Rate your transcript OrderClientKevin BrossRef #20660Order #TC0797112522 Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

I ordered this for a ford f150 and laid it out as specified, measurments and then re checked them to be sure of where i had to drill marked all holes as specified in the data information sheet drilled the bed holes and started to install the bolts 2 holes were miss identified and when i went to install the brackets they would not fit in correct position had to reverse the brackets to go inward instead of outward which was a pain inthe a-- to get in and tighten the nuts the 2 rearward bolts are drilled close to the emmison tank and neither one can be torqued let alone to the 85 ft pds trcommended the most rear is directlu above the tank and should be noted in the instructions as you cant see it unless on a hoist this is a saftey hazzard because a drill could go thru it and cause an explosion there should be a specific note to this problem i dare to say who ever wrote these instructions has never attempted to install one of these kits or he would be cusing himself a friend of mine recommended you people service and delivery were good but instructions and installation sucks thank and you have a good day 147975

The kit arrived very quickly, in fact shipping was moved from "5 to 7 days" to "3 to 5 days"and arrived in 5 day. During Christmas rush this was great, and really appreciated. I ask a technician friend to install it for me. It went together very nicely. I am rating this as EXCELLENT, do to the ease of installation an the escallation of the shipping arrangement. Thank You for a great product and great service. LGK satisfied customer 111867

The rails are solid and work as expected. Unfortunately it was not clear to me from the description at that "universal" meant that you need to drill through the frame to install and that there was a custom bracket available as an alternative that lines up with existing holes in the frame. While they were very helpful and willing to do a return, the cost of shipping the new product and returning the old made the whole transaction a costly mistake. 106438

Comments

Im planing to buy the same rails for my dodge diesel 2005 full box but do not want to make the same mistake so what kind of bracket and are they a must or makes it safer? thanks

comment by: Sid - 12/31/2013

2496

The brackets are not necessarily safer, but they are easier to install. They require less, and in some cases, no drilling through the frame in order to install. For a 2005 Ram 2500 with 8 foot bed, you would use part RP50140-58. This kit includes the custom fit brackets that attach to the frame as well as the rails that sit in the bed of the truck where the fifth wheel secures. No matter what, you will need to drill through the bed on any of these kits. I have also included a link to a video of this kit being installed on a 2006 Ram.

I ordered this Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for my 5th Wheel Hitch on a Monday afternoon and it was in my home Wednesday afternoon. I received a quick response from etrailer.com that my order was received and shipped. I have not had this quick response or shipping ever when ordering from any other company. The parts were all exactly what I needed and installed with ease. I am excited with how professional etrailer.com was and I "Highly Recommend" this company for your trailer needs. etrailer.com is the first place I will shop for my 5th wheel needs. 163588

I purchased this hitch kit along with a set of mirrors. I was surprised that my shipment was upgraded to a faster arrival date for no additional fee-but then the shipment arrived one day early! Great service from etrailer, thank you. I have audited the parts in the shipment and found them to be all there (and quite strong appearing), but I haven't been able to get to the installation just yet. With included instructions and hardware I expect no problem with the installation. Overall, very happy with the product and the service. 44976

Was very impressed with the shipping speed of my rails and hitch. Install was pretty straight forward, the written instructions are not the best but having the video made it go that much quicker. Brake controller, trailer wiring harness, rails and hitch took about 5 hours to install. Will for sure be using eTrailer again for my needs. My only problem was the pro series hitch, I had to open up the metal brace slightly to fit on the sliders. 120070

I placed my order on Sunday, Mar. 6 and within 2 hours had three different confirmation of order emails. Didn't expect any feedback until Monday at the earliest. Received my order in hand Wednesday, Mar 9. Turn around time was great. I haven't had a chance to install yet, but have opened all packaging and everything looks just like it was described. Thank you so much. I will not hesitate to order again from you in the future! 9061

Have installed it today. Manual was very vague for ford. The photo on web site is different than product recieved, but with all that it was very easy to install and will find out on Thursday how good it works. I am in need of other products for the camping process and will b dealing with etrailer.com. Will B posting pictures at a further date. If there is a catalog for etrailer.com I would greatly appreciate one being sent to me. 48835

You can find the instructions on our website, right here on the product page. Look for the "Installation Details" link closer to the top of the page.

Follow instruction very easy to install. Works well with my hitch. Took more time reading instruction than installing on truck. Drilling whole in the bed of the truck wanted to make sure I understood what I was doing before drilling. Installed on a 93 Chevy Crew Cab Dually, long bed. Truck sat high enought that I did not have to raise it up or remove the tires whick cut down on the istallation time greatly. 82020

Best price, prompt response and delivery. Product exactly as described. Fits a great variety of vehicles. Hardware parts application and description could be a little more complete; but, it can all be figured out. I simplified L-bracket attachment to frame by welding them on. Great installation video...if you can find it: http://www.etrailer.com/tv-fifth-wheel-2002-ford-f250-superduty.aspx Thanks! 6552

Thanks for the video I am a Tech and have never installed the 30035 kit. I was able to watch the video prior to install and this allowed me to get all the tools together and installed the rails with the hitch 30047 in about 2.5 hours. I think it is a great thing that you post these videos.... The truck I did was a 2007 F350 which was very similar to the 2004 F250 in the video... Thanks. RJ 4850

I have a 1990 Chevy Silverado 3500. The instructions were fine for most of the installation. At least one top bolt location had to be moved to match the frame. Two of the brackets required some cutting of plates on the frame to fit properly. One bracket bolt was a pain to get in because it was right behind the shock tower bracket. 17/32" drill bit was almost impossible to find. 133371

My order was recieved on time and in good condition. Installation was a little confusing at first, as this was the first time for me. I returned to your site and watched the videos and read the articles you have posted and found them to be a great help. Should I need to order anything else there is only one place I'll be ordering from and thats etrailer.com 130096

Service was great and friendly. Price was very competitive. However, product information should have advised for special application for my 03 Dodge 3500, rear rail mounting brackets. No big deal, though I figured it out. Reese instructions could more detailed. I installed the hitch myself. All is good. Etrailer, will get more business from me. 156117

Received the rails for my Dodge truck and had no problems installing them. The shipping was fast and had to call Support because I needed a new bolt. They took care of me and sent me a new one out next day. That's what I call service. It's good to have a company that still believes in great customer service. Thank you for a great experience. 71142

shipped fast box was torn and just left on front porch but that is not the company's problem it an issue that the delivery company needs to address had to go online to make sure everything was there no packing slip to make sure everything made the trip bit other than the issues with the delivery company. everything they said it would be. 173594

This was the first 5th wheel hitch I've installed and it was Pretty easy and done with in four hours. on my08 F250 I had to switch around the brackets to make it fit just as it said. Only draw back was on the passenger side where it didn't line up just right. Very simple modification and it's in. The video did help as a guide. 21698

I have purchased from etrailer before and each time I have been extremely satisfied. The latest purchase was for my universal base rails for my fifth wheel. I'm satisfied with the hitch I bought, I liked the fact that I could type in my truck make and model to find out what hitch I needed.( I have a short bed) It brought up several for me to chose from and in different prices ranges that I could afford.. The product was shipped fast also. Thanks etrailer! 30248

Was not too bad to install. Would have been easier if I had the brackets welded to frame rather than drill and bolt. Just remember to put brakets, that are just setting on the frame, in a safe place when you have to drive off during instalation. Those brackets are hard to find along side the road. 61842

The jaw designs range from the economy slide-bar jaw which will make the most noise while towing, the middle of the road standard double jaw which will offer a quieter ride, and finally the premium single-hook jaw that will offer the quietest ride. And then for the slider design there are square tube sliders and round tube sliders. The square-tube sliders...

  • How to Install a 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch # RP30047 In the Bed of a Ford F-350 Long Bed
  • Depending on the model year and design of your F-350 there could be one of several fifth wheel installation kits available. If your vehicle is 1998 or older a universal installation kit, item # RP30035, will be needed. This kit includes brackets that install under the bed of the truck and rails that install in the bed of the truck to accept any of the Reese fifth-wheel hitches, like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - 16,000 lbs, item # RP30047, that you mentioned. If your F-350 is a...

  • Installing a Reese 14K Fifth Wheel Hitch on a 2005 Chevy Pickup
  • I have included a link to the installation instructions for the universal kit, # RP30035. Instruction for your 2006 Chevy Silverado start on page 5. We have an install that shows the installation process. Because you have a short bed pickup, please make sure your hitch has a slider on it. Otherwise, there will not be enough clearance at the front of your trailer, and the corners will impact your cab during sharp turns.

  • Suitability of Older Trucks for Towing Fifth Wheels
  • Due to the myriad of different equipment packages GM offered, finding the towing capacity of a given vehicle is not as easy as you would think. I did some research on the towing capacities of those mid 80's GM trucks. I found that as a general rule, the K series 4wd trucks has lower capacities than the C series 2wd models. I saw several references stating that a C series could tow up to 12,000 lbs or maybe more, depending how it was equipped. The best way to determine the towing capacity...

  • For your 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed, there are a few options for 5th wheel trailer hitch mounting kits, both custom and universal. For starters, there are 2 custom fit options that I think would work best for your truck. First we have kit # RP50066-58. • Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab
  • There are numerous 5th wheel trailer hitch options available for a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500. The right one for your truck and trailer depends on a couple of factors. First, there are 3 different bed length options, 5-1/2 feet, 6-1/2 feet long, and 8 feet long. Since you have a crew cab, I am inclined to believe you have either the 5-1/2 foot bed or the 6-1/2 foot bed. If you have a 5-1/2 foot bed, in order to tow a 5th wheel trailer, you will need a standard 5th wheel hitch and a Sidewinder...

If you are needing just the rails themselves, use part # RP58058. The rails do not come with hardware to bolt to the brackets, so if you need the hardware you should also order part # RP58430. You can order these items online, or by contacting one of our...

  • What Are Measurements To Install Base Rails For Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch On A 2010 GMC Sierra
  • To install a fifth wheel hitch on your 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed, you will need to use a fifth wheel hitch with a slider. The slider is used to eliminate clearance problems between the truck cab and the fifth wheel trailer on slow speed turns. The Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch, # RP30047 you have referenced is a fixed hitch and will not give you the clearance you will need to tow a fifth wheel with a 6-1/2 foot bed. I would recommend the Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Trailer...

  • For a fifth wheel hitch, we do have applications for the 5.5 ft. bed of the 2010 GMC Sierra 1500, but use of a Sidewinder King Pin is required for clearance. A Sidewinder King Pin will move the pivot point of the trailer back 22 Inches which will give you additional clearance needed to make turns (see Sidewinder FAQ). Before buying a fifth wheel trailer, I would recommend using our Pin Box Conversion chart that shows all the fifth-wheel pin boxes that are compatible with Sidewinder King...

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2015 Ford F-250
  • The recommended universal rail kit for your 2015 Ford F250 would be the part # RP30035, this is a 10 bolt kit. There are no 4-bolt kits available that are recommended for your vehicle. The 4-bolt rails are much bigger than the 10-bolt rails. On some vehicles the 4-bolt design will install easier than the 10 bolt design, at the cost of reduced truck bed space. However, I would recommend you install a custom fit rail kit like part # RP50073-58 this will give you the same universal style...

  • 2014 Ford F-250 Crew Cab Short Bed Hitch Recommendations for Towing a Fifth Wheel Trailer
  • To determine if the truck you are intending to buy can tow the trailer that you are looking at, you will need to use the following formula to determine the maximum allowable tow rating for your truck. This weight should always be obtained by weighing the vehicle and the trailer together on a scale. GVW: Gross Vehicle Weight - The actual weight of the vehicle when fully loaded....

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, 2011 Forest River Sierra
  • We have numerous 5th wheel trailer hitches for the 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. The best hitch for your truck and trailer combination is largely dependent on the bed length of the truck. Short bed trucks require a sliding hitch or, in some cases, a sidewinder will need to be added. Long bed trucks can use a standard hitch. If you have a short bed truck, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Round Tube Slider, # RP30075. The round tube slider offers 12 inches of travel to...
