Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I received hitch and wiring harness about a week ago went out this morning and installed both. Took about an hour and a half to do both. The hitch went on without having to drop the muffler and the wiring harness is pretty well plug and play you just have to run powerfrom the battery to the rear. This is the second vehicle I have done using etrailer can't say enough good about these guys the delivery was timely and instructions clear, videos on the site are always helpful as they are vehicle specific. Thanks etrailer

Having this wiring harness available made the install "almost" enjoyable. All went well, and I could not be happier with the results.

So about a year ago I bought a reciever hitch, receiver cover, euro style ball and wiring for my 2010 Camry to tow a 4x8 foldable trailer for powersports......Installation was straight forward and dedicated an afternoon for install.....Directions for the products was easy to follow for both products.... so far the wiring is just as I installed it and the hitch is holding up great, you can barely notice that I have a hitch back there. I think it blends in nicely....I anticipate many years of worry free towing....
Customer service is top notch also ????

With the exception of the hitch cover cracking and dry rotting where it pivots, everything else is great. If I had to do it over again I wouldnt change a thing.....Im extremely pleased with the products I purchased from etrailer.com

This is my third hitch and harness from etrailer. videos are useful. Customer service is excellent. The etrailer brand hitch for my 2015 Toyota Venza is virtually invisible!

by:

When help was needed, Korren was very helpful. She put the order in on Friday and I received the wiring harness today, Monday.

by:

The wiring harness was easy to install with the included directions and the video. Have used it several times and it is still working fine. I would recommend the wiring harness to anyone looking for a good quality product.

Everything fits as it should, youtube video's from e-trailer gave step by step instructions for my car!

by:
2012 ToyotaVenza

It took us a while to install because we have little background on pulling trim panels off and knowing where to find things. But, we watched the YouTube video and with the instructions we were able to install the wire harness with little to no problem.

Everything is working fine! Thank you!

by:

The item worked OK only once, the first time. I have done some testing. There is continuity from battery to unit. There is continuity from unit's ground to trailer plugin. The lights on the car work fine with the unit's wiring: it gets feed from car controls. The unit is fully sealed so I cannot test continuity from unit to plugin, other than mentioned ground connection. Visually the wires from unit to trailer plugin are fine. I highly suspect the unit itself and not the wiring. I have tried the suggestions online to unplug power to it for some time to no avail. Needless to say, poor rating.

by:

This is my 2nd trailer hitch from e-Trailer. I have a small trailer I use to haul brush, furniture & my recumbent bike. I was very pleased with my first hitch, but after getting a new car, I needed another hitch. The quality products and video instructions make it straight forward to install. My kit required a wire to run from the back of the vehicle to the battery in front. The video outlined the best path to route the wire to avoid hot parts or areas where the wire could be damaged. The connection at the battery included a fuse to prevent a electrical fire if somehow the wire got damaged, like in an accident. When I ordered the 2nd hitch, I received an email letting me know the hitch I selected was no longer available within 3 hours of my order. They suggested another hitch to fit my vehicle. Whenever the need for another hitch arises I know the only place I will go, etrailer.

1998 Toyota Camry

This worked great. The only thing that was a little bit of a pain was to run the power wire to the battery. I ran it out under the car attached to brake and feul.line area from trunk to battery. It does work good i have a 98 Camry also that didn't need the power wire but at time I have issue with the 98 blowing tail light fuses. This one works great on the same trailer it is a 2 place snow mobile trailer. This one has side lights also

by:
2011 Toyota Camry

Fit my 2011 Toyota Camry perfectly. I wish that the ground cable would have been slightly longer to reach the factory ground. That being said, there is plenty of space to attach the ground with the supplied self tapping screw. Installation was simple, the only time consuming part is running the main power under the car to the battery (not an issue for hybrid models where battery is in the trunk). Everything tucked away nicely.

A year later this harness is working flawlessly. Being able to store the harness end in the trunk out of the weather has been nice, it looks as new as the day I bought it. I tow with it once a week at least.

by:
ToyotaVenza

Works well but not particularly easy to install and directions were of little use. I tried to find a place to fish the power lead through the firewall for an hour but gave up and drilled a hole below and to the left of the steering column. Also, the directions for the Venza say to remove the cargo attachments and plastic in the back. It isn't necessary and doesn't actually help... just remove the black trays and the small access panels for the tail lights. You can reach down and disconnect the wiring harness but it helps to pull the harness away from the tab that secures it to the chassis.

2007 Toyota Camry

This kit made the wiring easy. No question about what went where or how to get it there. I can't wait to get a trailer for my canoe to hook it up. Thanks.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The wiring kit is complete and installation is foolproof. Once installed it works exactly as it should. If you are installing it in an Outlander PHEV, here are some observations you might find useful:

The battery is in the rear of the vehicle and obstructs your exposure to the driver's side wiring. You might want to consider removing the battery entirely so the trim panel can deflected a bit more.

The tail light wires have very little slack and the connectors are a bit difficult to pull apart. I found it helpful to remove the lens assemblies from each side and access the wires that way. Simply remove the two screws and firmly pull the entire lens straight back until it releases from the plastic "C" connector.

Toyota Camry

I purchased a light kit for my Camry and loved it, worked great without putting a load on the car wiring. So when I needed lights for my Venza I went back to etrailer and it was promptly sent to me. This one however had an issue. When I notified etrailer they helped me trouble shoot and when the box was the problem, promptly replaced it. Very happy with the with the service.

by:

Wiring harness fit the vehicle very well. My only suggestion is that a bracket should be shipped with either the wiring harness or the trailer hitch for the external mount of the four-wire connector. The wiring instructions suggest that the four-wire connector be stored in the trunk and extended out of the hatch when using with a trailer. The harness is made to go through the knockout on the driver's side and connect via a bracket on the trailer hitch. The installer just needs to squeeze the four-wire connector to push it through the rubber knockout opening, and then slit the rubber knockout to fit the flat wire of the four-wire connector.

by:

I couldn't give it 5 stars because I haven't put the wiring harness on yet, but it sure got here fast...like two days. I certainly appreciate that.

Working great. Easy to install, no problems whatsoever.

by:

Good product, installation instructions and videos on YouTube made the install easy.

Steven

4/14/2020

Made some modifications during install, tapped power from a never used cigarette lighter style port and ran harness external through a hole I found in the pan under the spare tire, double wrapped with corrugated tubing and spiral wrap to make a clean and protected hookup point, sealed the exit hole with silicone RTV to prevent water entry, been working great for the past year.

by:
2017 Mitsubishi Outlander

The product itself seems durable and well crafted. The install is mostly straight forward and easy to do however the instructions are not very great. The videos on the website were not helpful for me as they were not my make and model. The greatest difficulty of the install was the running of the wire to the battery and re installing the trim. In my Mitsubishi Outlander I was not able to find a way to run the wire along the outside nor did I want. I ended up running it along the harness but once I got to the dash I could not find a way to get to the engine bay without having to remove the whole dash which I wasn't going to do. After investigating for an hour to find a hidden pathway I just ran the wire out the door and through the quarter panel. Took me about 4 hours to install.

by:

This was truly a great investment!
Easy
to install.
I watched the video that etrailer has on their site and about an hour later I was done with the installation and about another 20 minutes securing the wire to the battery for a (2015 Toyota Venza).
Looks great on the vehicle. No altering the rear bumper at all.
Thank you etrailer for making this a very simple task.

by:

I have used this several times and has never let me down yet. Previously i purchased a competitor brand, i towed my trailer 4 times and it stopped working. Ive had this wiring harness for a year or so and its still working. I recomend it to all.

by:

I got this product because it was featured on a video. I am a visual person so watching the instructional video saved me hours verses reading the Manuel. The install was just as easy as the video showed. Part works great.... Just as it should.

If your on the fence about this job yourself or getting it installed, do it yourself. Compared to getting the hitch and wiring done at u haul, I saved about $200. And I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. A floor jack and stands are a must to get under the car though.
