Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Nissan Frontier with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Nissan Frontier's wiring harness, which is located beneath the rear of the vehicle, along the driver's-side frame rail. Once you've plugged in the tow harness, connect the included jumper harness with relays to activate functions. This harness plugs into the 12-pin plug that is located behind the passenger's-side kick panel in your cab.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your Nissan Frontier, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today on 2012 Nissan Frontier we are going to install the tow ready T1 connector part number 118525. This is a two-part harness. The first piece we'll be adding to the passengers side kick panel. First, we'll remove the passenger's side threshold trim then the kick panel. To remove the trim, we'll simply take a flat blade screwdriver or a trim inaudible tool and get it underneath and pry it free from the plastic fasteners. To remove the kick panel we'll need to remove plastic screw cap and then use our trim panel tool or our flat blade screw driver to pop free the kick panel.
Now with that out of our way we'll need to locate the 12 pin plug back in behind the wire harnesses that run to the kick panel. As you can see, the plug can be difficult to see but is hidden inside the manufacturers wiring. Before we install our connector into the 12-pin plug, we'll fast install the relays on to our harness. The three relays are provided with the install kit. Now with our relays installed we can go ahead and plug in to the 12-pin connector.
Now we have our connectors secure we need to go ahead and route the wire and relays in behind the kick panel and secure them with the black zip ties provided with the install kit. In cases where these relays could cause a rattle the install kit also provides form padding with two way adhesive that you can stick to the interior metal components or plastic components to avoid any rattling. Now with our piece of form padding reinstalled, we can go ahead and reinstall the interior trim components. Now with that piece of our harness installed we can move to the back of the truck underneath on the driver's side inner frame rail, you'll find two plugs. There's a gray and black plug.
We will be using the six pin gray plug to install our tow ready harness part number118263. First, we'll need to locate the manufacturers' plug located on the inside of the driver's side frame rail. As you can see here, there are two plugs. We are going to remove the cap off the gray plug, take our new tow ready harness and plug it directly it directly into the manufacturers wiring. We'll make sure we have it firmly pressed into the connector and locked in place.
Now with the plug installed we can go ahead and route our wire over to the center of the hitch and secure it with some black zip ties. All right with our wires secured, we'll go ahead and take our side cutters and cut back the excess in the zip ties and there you have it for the install of the tow ready T1 connector part number 118252 on our 2012 Nissan Frontier.

Instructions are slightly vague for those not so mechanically inclined. Also, a little packet of dielectric grease would be appropriate for the rear connection considering the location of the connection (on the underside of the vehicle behind the rear tire). Fairly vunerable location for water to get into the connection.37341

I am extremely pleased with the product. I got the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with Relays, #118525, way sooner than expected and had it installed within 5 minutes. You just plug in the 12 pin connector to the already existing 12 pin plug located behind the passengers kick panel, secure it with zip ties, snap on the relays to the other end of the 12 pin connector, place the supplied foam pieces behind the wiring harness, zip tie the rest and you are done. The foam pieces will assist in keeping anything from rattling; may not be necessary if you use the zip ties properly but the foam is there, why not use it. The instructions mention using a test prob to make sure the wires are correct. I just hooked my trailer up to the green wire bundle trailer plug, which came with the kit, to make sure everything was correct. The prob wasn't really necessary. From my point of view, nothing can go wrong; it was too straight forward. 36777

the nissan xterra is semi prewired so this is really easy for anyone to do. the relay harness in the right front kick panel took 5 minutes to install and the short extension under the rear left only took another 10 to install and dress to the back bumper. I also purchased the mounting bracket for the 4 pole flat connector p/n 18144. it keeps the wires away from the hitch and makes the install look clean.77002

At first this might look too involved for the average person to install, but it's really user friendly. The harness with the relays is easy to put in & pretty much foolproof. Removing the sill plate & kick panel is not hard at all and you don't need a trim panel removal tool to do it either. Just use a fairly wide flat bladed screwdriver & use a little care and the panels come off easily. etrailer offers a short online video showing the installation that is much better than the instructions that come with the kit so a few minutes spent looking at that will answer just about any question you might have.. 69792

I was a little apprehensive about tearing panels out of my truck that is barely a week old. After watching the installation video a couple times I was ready. It was actually a lot easier that I thought it would be. And yes, the 12 pin connector was buried. I put the relays in and wrapped them in foam while at the kitchen table reviewing the video. It took longer to get the factory cap off the wiring in the rear of the truck than it took to do the wiring in the cab. Just finished and haven't hooked up a trailer yet but expect no problems. 56459

Tight fit, took quite a bit of my husbands and his buddy's man power to squeeze it in. Good to know that it wont be coming off anytime soon but it would have taken a lot less time and had been easier to have just slipped right in and been able to attach the bolts. 2009 Xterra 2 wheel drive. Installation time 20 minutes. Most difficult step was removing the factory cap on the plug underneath the vehicle at the rear. Slide the plug rearward to detach it from the frame for easier handling. Also, pop the floor sill UP using a trim panel puller (putty knife), starting at the rear end. Raise the floor sill about 2-3" to clear the alignment stems then pull rearward to detach from the front door post. I broke one of the stems by not raising high enough before I pulled it loose. Otherwise an extremely easy install.43728

My eTrailer purchase experience has been fantastic! Quality products, low prices, fast shipping, and great instructional videos. The Curt Trailer Hitch (#13514) is definitely a high quality product; I installed it on my 2012 Nissan Xterra PRO-4X. The fit was definitely tight. Not only did I have to remove the rear exhaust hanger per the instructions, I had to remove the mid-hanger just behind the muffler and loosen the hanger just in front on the muffler to get the required clearance. After that it just needed some friendly persuasion; i.e. a hammer. The hitch fits well, looks great, and only took about an hour to install with my 15 year old son. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with Relays (#118525) could not have been easier! I was only cautious of removing the passenger side floor sill and kick panel without a panel puller. Just took my time and didn't rush; panel puller really not required. Had the Xterra wired in 20 minutes. GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH eTrailer! They have gained a repeat customer!!!38756

This is a good product overall - I just installed it on my 2009 XTerra SE and it works. Since there is no moving parts I do not believe it is likely to break. However there are 3 minor issues with it: 1. Instructions could be improved. Just like Pete mentioned in his review, it was confusing for me at first, since I do not have much practical experience. It ended up to be simpler that I thought really. At first I thought that there should be 2 or more connectors to plug it in and I was breaking my head trying to find it. It took me some time to realize that I really just need to plug in connectors to the harness and then connect harness to the adapter on the car body. Once I realized it took no time at all to put it all together. 2. I am not sure if this is due to some code requirements, but I would make harness ends shorter in order to fit it better behind the panel. 3. Plastic strips that came in the package could be longer to allow to be attached to my hitch receiver. Overall it is a good product and I would recommend it to a friend.32564
