Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Nissan Titan

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation- 2004 Nissan Armada

Today on this 2004 Nissan Armada we are going to install part number N40975 from Hoppy. We are also going to use part number 18140 from Tow Ready. This is the bracket we will use to connect to the hitch. These are the two parts that come with the Hoppy kit. This bracket, and this connector, they just snap together. Mounting this to the hitch is going to be a little bit different. That is where we are going to use the other part number 18140. This will clamp to the hitch, and then we will mount this to the bracket. :35

If you look at the vehicle, there is not a very good place to attach this to. You could put it off to the side here, but that would require an extra long lead from your trailer to go around and make a right hand turn. It is not a good idea to put it that far out. We are going to move it here where there are a couple options. You can mount our bracket like this and mount it below, but it does look out of place. What we can do is actually take our bracket, put a small bend in it and put it like this and attach it which brings it a little bit closer. What we will do is take this piece and put it in a bench vice, grab a pair of plyers and pull up on this to make a gentle curve. You should end up with something like this. 1:18

Lets go ahead and install our bracket. Run the clamp around it, pull it through the clamp, and then take the threaded part, and push it towards the band itself and it locks in place. Then you can tighten it up. We will cut off our excess, That will leave a sharp edge, so we will leave it long and fold it up inside, that way you have a rounded edge instead of a sharp edge. We will that through the top, put this on, add a fender washer which you can get from any hardware store. Then bolt it together. This vehicle has the factory wiring harness built it, it is tucked up behind the bumper up here, so I have to reach in and pull it out. It does have a fastener that holds it in place. Pop it out and bring it to you. 2:49

Take off our cap, and then take our connector and snap it into place. Then plug our wiring together. Now take your wires, and zip tie them up and out of the way. We will go ahead and point out where the relays are going to be located on this vehicle. We are on the passenger side of the vehicle underneath the hood next to the battery. There are two fuse panel covers, we are going to remove the one closest to the battery. This vehicle has all the relays installed from the factory, so we got lucky. But, if you did not have it you would have to put a blue relay here.,located in Tow 1. In this socket you would install the brown one in location Tow 2. If you needed a 3rd one, there is an extra socket over here for it. Some models need this one, some do not. It also varies between the years, so take a look at what you have and what you need on your vehicle. That will finish our install of part number N40975 from Hoppy and part number 18140 from Tow Ready.

Wow!!! From the time I opened the package to the time I was ready to hook up to the trailer was 13 minutes!!!! My '07 Armada needed the extra blue relay under the dash, but thanks to your forums and customer reviews I was prepared for that by the time the package arrived. I ordered on a Sunday night and even with a blizzard hitting your area of the US hard, I still had my parts by that following Friday morning!!! Bravo to all who put customer service #1that is something that seems to have been forgotten by many companies but obviously not etrailer.coms!!! Thank you for providing exactly the product that was described, and the service that you promised!!!! Sincerely, Jason, Missie, and Family 68617

Easy to install on my 2010 Nissan Titan. All I had to do was plug it into the factory wiring. The only problem I ran into was there is a third relay that needs to be installed for this to work properly. Without it all of the trailer lights worked except for the running lights. I took my truck into a Nissan dealer and they added the relay, somewhere under the dash. 14769

Ordered for new hitch install on '06 Titan. Put the hitch on first then realized I could have installed the plug mounting plate on the hitch bracket first and would have been easier. Regardless, still installed in about 10 minutes so no complaints. Fit perfectly and looks good too. Nice quality plug. Overall, very satisfied with purchase. 147409

Great product, but for the 2006 Nissan Armada, you need another blue relay to install under the steering column to the left. you have to remove the lower dash to be able to see it. There is a relay plug there that you need to put in a blue relay to make the running lights work. 19471

Didn't work as expected. I have a 2010 Titan LE and my receiver is round tube, not square. Had to modify the bracket to fit the receiver. But still nice to have the 4 prong attachment with the 7. 157119

  • Nissan Towing Relays for Towing Circuits on 2008 Nissan Titan Pickup
  • The relays in the Valley 7-Way and 4-Way Connector, part # N40975, are the relays you will need to activate the towing circuits on your 2008 Nissan Titan. The relays are available individually, without having to purchase the trailer connector. The CURT Relay Kit for Nissan, part # C57000, is just the relays for Nissan vehicles that do not have the tow package but add trailer wiring later. Once installed, all of the trailer wiring functions should work.

  • The # N40975 Trailer Wiring Kit will include detailed instructions on how to install this part and the associated relays. There is a relay panel under the hood, in the engine bay, by the battery on the passenger side. If you remove the cover you will see some open ports. Trailer Tow 1 is where the blue relay goes and Trailer Tow 2 is where the brown relay goes. I have included a video showing the installation of this harness below. Most likely, your current harness is missing the...

  • Stop and Turn Signals Work But Tail Lights Do Not Work on Trailer
  • The first thing I would check is the trailer wiring running light fuse located in the power distribution box under the hood. Once the fuse box is located check the legend on the lid to determine the correct fuse to check. Blown running light fuses are a common problem with the Nissan Titan trucks. If the running light fuse is not blown or missing, you should also check fuses in the cab of the truck. Again use the legend on the cover, you will have a fuse box on the passengers side and...

  • I thought this one over for a while and could not come up with a definite solution. I asked our installer and he has not had the opportunity to install a harness on this vehicle yet. I then jumped on the internet and found a couple of interesting notes on the 2006 Armada. Apparently there is a relay socket under the dash just to the left of the steering column. Since your vehicle did not have the towing package installed at the factory this relay was not installed and will be needed to...

  • Trailer Turn Signals/Brake Lights Not Working on Trailer Towed by 2004 Nissan Titan
  • This does sound like a bad or missing relay. You can test the 7-Way connector without the trailer attached to see if you get any signal at all on the turn signal/brake light circuit. If you do get a signal but the lights are not working on the trailer, it could be that the extra load from the trailer lights is not allowing them to function properly. No signal would indicate a problem further up, most likely a blown fuse or relay. The 2004 Nissan Titan should only need 2 relays out of...

  • No Brake Lights or Turn Signals on a 2006 Nissan Titan
  • You are correct, you will need relays for the brake and turn signals on your 2006 Nissan Titan, if they were not factory installed. The CURT Relay Kit for Nissan, part # C57000, will have the large, brown relay that will activate the 12-volt power circuit and the two, small blue relays that activate the brake and turn signals.
