Video Transcript for Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring N40975 Review

Today we're going to review Part Number N40975. This is the Hopkins factory style seven-way and four-way flat vehicle and trailer connector with the included relays. This is a custom fit part number. It is designed to fit the Nissan Armada and Nissan Titan starting in 2004 and they are for vehicles that do not have the trailer connector on them. Basically right here this will plug into the vehicle's factor plug, which is usually located behind the bumper of the vehicle. This will provide a seven-way and a four-way trailer connector hookup. It also includes the mounting bracket for this plug and a couple of screws to install the mounting bracket to your vehicle.

Also you'll notice it comes with the three relays that are required to activate the wiring harness. On some 2004 and 2005 Nissan Titan models they might only require two of the relays, but most of them will require all three. Basically the large brown relay is made to activate the 12-volt power circuit and these two smaller blue relays will activate your brake and turn signals. Basically when you go to these relays to install, you go to actually your relay panel, which is usually on the passenger side under the hood right near your battery. Remove the cover that's on the relay panel and then basically if you look on the panel, it will usually have a map of what each location is. You just find the trailer turn right hand and trailer turn left hand for the blue relays. Then you also look for the brown relay ...

You'll find a position that will say trailer tow number two and you'll insert this into it. On the factory plug here, the seven and four-way, you'll notice it does come with this mounting bracket. What's nice about this is you have your screws to install this to the vehicle and then there's clips right on here. Once you get this plugged in, you just push this in the mounting bracket. It'll click right into place and you're ready to go. If you need to remove it, just push in on those clips and it'll pop it right out.

Very easy to install. That should do it for the review on Part Number N40975, the Hopkins factory style seven-way and four-way flat vehicle and trailer connector with the included relays. .

Wow!!! From the time I opened the package to the time I was ready to hook up to the trailer was 13 minutes!!!! My '07 Armada needed the extra blue relay under the dash, but thanks to your forums and customer reviews I was prepared for that by the time the package arrived. I ordered on a Sunday night and even with a blizzard hitting your area of the US hard, I still had my parts by that following Friday morning!!! Bravo to all who put customer service #1that is something that seems to have been forgotten by many companies but obviously not etrailer.coms!!! Thank you for providing exactly the product that was described, and the service that you promised!!!! Sincerely, Jason, Missie, and Family 68617

This Kit worked perfect for my 2004 Nissan Titan XE. Easy install, it attaches right to the factory harness. My truck only requires 2 of the relays because its a 2004. One blue and one brown....... A note for anybody trouble shooting any power issues {blinkers or lights on trailer not working} there are 2 hidden fuses that were installed on most first generation Titans as a dealer recall. They are located in the wire harness bundle underneath the steering wheel. If either one of these are blown, you will need to replace for the trailer harness will work. Hope that helps. I would definitely recommend this product !!!!!! 204526

Easy to install on my 2010 Nissan Titan. All I had to do was plug it into the factory wiring. The only problem I ran into was there is a third relay that needs to be installed for this to work properly. Without it all of the trailer lights worked except for the running lights. I took my truck into a Nissan dealer and they added the relay, somewhere under the dash. 14769

Ordered for new hitch install on '06 Titan. Put the hitch on first then realized I could have installed the plug mounting plate on the hitch bracket first and would have been easier. Regardless, still installed in about 10 minutes so no complaints. Fit perfectly and looks good too. Nice quality plug. Overall, very satisfied with purchase. 147409

The product matched up mounting holes to the hitch I got so I was able to use some bolts and nuts I had to mount it to a plate in the new hitch. The factory 7 pin harness on my Titan plugged directly into the unit and it worked perfectly. Took about 5 minutes to install. Simple and easy. 195060

Great product, but for the 2006 Nissan Armada, you need another blue relay to install under the steering column to the left. you have to remove the lower dash to be able to see it. There is a relay plug there that you need to put in a blue relay to make the running lights work. 19471

Bought this for my 2006 Armada. Direct connection, no fuss. Worked absolutely perfectly for my non-factory tow package SUV. Installed the plate onto my bumper with the provided sheet metal screws. Required a hole to be pre-drilled, which is super easy. 250522

  • Stop and Turn Signals Work But Tail Lights Do Not Work on Trailer
  • The first thing I would check is the trailer wiring running light fuse located in the power distribution box under the hood. Once the fuse box is located check the legend on the lid to determine the correct fuse to check. Blown running light fuses are a common problem with the Nissan Titan trucks. If the running light fuse is not blown or missing, you should also check fuses in the cab of the truck. Again use the legend on the cover, you will have a fuse box on the passengers side and...

Once the fuse box is located check the legend on the lid to verify the correct fuses to check. Blown running light fuses are a common problem with the Nissan Titan trucks, and if the fuse is blown you need to make sure your trailer wiring is not shorted before plugging it in again or you will continue to blow fuses. If you do get a signal but the lights are not working on the trailer, it could be that the extra load from the trailer lights is not allowing them to function properly. I would start by cleaning out any dirt or corrosion from the front and back of the trailer connectors to see if that fixes the problem. If not, I would move on to checking the ground on the trailer. Make sure the ground from the trailer plug is attached to a clean metal surface. Then you can check the grounds at the tail lights. On many trailers, the...
