Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Kia Sorento's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located along the frame rail at the rear of your vehicle. The exact location of the port will vary depending on the make, model, and year of your vehicle. Once you've plugged in the connectors, insert the included fuse into the in-line fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your Kia Sorento, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Kia Sorento's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Kia Sorento operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your Kia Sorento's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Video Transcript for Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118269 Review

Today we're going to review part number 118269. This is the Tow Ready T-One vehicle wiring harness four factory tow prep packages. This has the 4-way flat trailer connector on it. This is a custom fit part number. It is designed to fit the Hyundai Santa Fe and Vera Cruz, and the Kia Sorentos all with the factory tow prep package starting in 2007. Now this is a custom fit part number so what I would recommend is go to our website, use our fit guide.

Put in your year and model vehicle and it will tell you if this part will work for your application. It includes everything shown here on the table: the harness with the ModuLite power module attached, cable ties, a piece of double-face tape to attach the ModuLite down, and a set of detailed instructions. Now this will provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. Again, this is designed for use on vehicle's that have the factory tow prep package. This does connect very quickly and easily. There's no cutting or splicing of wires.

You just use these plug-in connectors, attach them to the connection point on the vehicle and you'll be ready to go. Usually those connection points will be beneath the rear of the vehicle along the frame rail. Now in the detailed instructions it will show you each vehicle where to find that connection point, and it even includes some good pictures to help you out. Now this does include the ModuLite right here on the harness. This is to ensure that you vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer. It is a powered module.

What that means is it's directly connected to the battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. This extra length of wire with the 4-ways connected to is a 16-gauge bonded wire. You just run this out the back. When you're not using it you can just put it inside the vehicle. Also, if you notice the 4-way itself, does have this included dust cap to protect the 4-way so when you're not using it, put your 4-way on.

That will help keep it from getting damaged, and also protects it from the elements. A few specifications on this harness: the maximum amperage on the stop and turn light circuit is 4.2 amps per circuit. On the taillight it's 7.5 amps per circuit. Really briefly how this installs, you go to the rear of your vehicle. Again, using your instructions, it will show you where that connector is located on your frame rail. Plug this t-connector right into that. Then you'll run this out to the back. what you'll want to do is take your double-face tape, attach it to there, and then secure this ModuLite down so it doesn't bounce around or rattle. The other thing you want to make sure also is right here, this inline fuse holder, is pop that open and make sure the 15-amp fuse is installed right here. You can see the 15-amp fuse is installed. You do need to have that fuse in there. Then you'll have these cable ties if you want to take up any slack in the wiring harness. That should do it for the review on part number 118269. This is the Tow Ready T-One vehicle wiring harness for factory tow prep packages, and it includes the 4-way flat trailer connector. .

I purchased the T-one vehicle wiring harness, along with the Curt trailer hitch receiver, for my new Santa Fe Sport. The dealership Service Department did the installation for me in order to maintain my warranty on the vehicle. The cost of the tow hitch set-up and the cost of dealership installation was significantly lower than if I were to have had the dealership order the parts. In fact, it was more than a 50% savings. The Hyundai salesman and Service Department were so very impressed with the price and quality of the tow hitch and kit, I was delivered, that they requested eTrailer.com website from me for referral to their future customers that are looking for additional ways to save money in their new car buying experience. My vehicle look exactly like the pictures provided on eTrailers.com website. My Santa Fe happens to be the same color as well. Again, I had the trailer hitch receiver, along with the tow kit, installed professionally at the dealership for more than 50% of the price if I would have purchased the vehicle with the hitch included. 154174

Great experience from start to finish. Quick delivery. Perfect fit and easy to install within 30 minutes. Routing the wire harness was a bit challenging but it also was a perfect fit. I only have one picture but you can't see the hitch since it is behind the center panel which is exactly what I wanted. 142647

The delivery was prompt, the packaging was good, the directions were clear and easy to follow and the installation went fast and as simple as promised. It looks good on the vehicle and worked wonderful too. Not a complaint, but it is lower to the ground than others I have used so a step up receiver is needed. 121448

The unit, instructions and application were right on. Removing the Dust plug was the hardest part and had I been working with a lift and not on the ground that wouldnt have been such a problem. I am very pleased.

The wiring harness fit the pre-existing vehicle wiring perfectly; the extension which goes to the trailer is long enough for nearly any use, and the harness comes with double-backed tape or a small sheet metal screw to mount the control box. A very complete package; my only gripe would be that only one of the zipties that came with the unit was long enough to go around the hitch frame to secure the wiring extension in place. Not a big deal since I always have plenty of zipties, but something to make sure you have before you install the harness so that you can adequately secure it in place. 156240

These guys have hands-down the best product, best price and the fastest shipping you'll find out there, if you don't use them you're making a mistake! This is the third time ordering from them and it's been consistent every time. I love Etrailer.com! Thanks again guys Oh and also super easy step-by-step instructions with pictures believe me you won't be disappointed. 144577

Plug and play. 2013 Hyundai Santa fe sport. Checked for the two connections on the driver side frame rail, they were there so I ordered the T-One for the factory tow package. Plugged right in and ready to go in 20 minutes. Photo of factory wiring attached. 102447

The product was received exactly as described. Etrailer.com is extremely fast in how fast they get their parts to shipping. The harness plugged in and worked perfectly. The wires are long so there is plenty to work with depending on how you run it. My Santa Fe Limited had the tow-prep package so I had to use the enclosed zip ties for the extra wire Suggestions, maybe adding a second screw to attach the black box to the vehicle as added security. 96517

Tamara caught the fact that some of what I ordered was not correct for the hitch I ordered. She called within the hour and made the correction for me. I received product in record time for standard shipping! Everything was as promised. Only variation in instructions is that the wiring harness plugs for the 2014 Kia Sorento in on the driver's side instead of the passenger's side. Have purchased before and definably will again. 95591

The wiring harness & trailer hitch fit and function perfectly. The instructions, especially the video, were a great help. I originally ordered the wrong wiring but Melinda E. seamlessly ensured I got the proper wiring and arranged for the of the return of the improper wiring. I have already recommended etrailer to a brother-in-law and will strongly recommend them in the future to others. 189433

I just competed the installation of my wiring harness. It fit correctly snapping in to the factory connection. This product appears to be as good as OEM at 1/3 the cost. It arrive on time as estimated, I paid for the cheapest shipping and it arrived in 4 working days. It was good to find a product to fit my new 2014 car on the aftermarket,.. Now off to pic up my new travel trailer. 108171

Ordered a Curt trailer hitch for my new santa fe sport. It went on without a hitch. Looks good on the car. Also installed the recommended T-one wiring harness. That was the easiest one I ever installed. I have bought from Etrailer.com many different times and they are always the best in parts & service. I buy from them again. 156154

Hitch for my new Hyundai Santa Fe arrived super fast. It was easy to install due to the excellent video prepared by E-trailer. As I installed the hitch and wiring harness, I kept marveling at how well organized and efficient the program at E-Trailer is. This is my fourth hitch from this company. They know what they are doing. 159395

Very easy to install, however a suggestion for the installer is to install this item before installing the hitch...especially if the plugs are on the side of the rear end of the car (mine was on the driver's side rear). Great product, highly recommend it to other do-it-yourselfers and even those first timers! 100787

Product worked great on my 2014 Sorrento SX. Just a little difficulty (lack of space) in placing the Modulite black box within the rear driver side tail light. I used the double sided sticking foam. Also, this vehicle has no large plastic cover to remove for access to the connection points. 100061

Exact fit on my 2011 KIA Sorrento Sx. Like the video said, the hardest step was removing the dust plugs on the underside of the car. After removing the dust plugs, it took me about 10-15 minutes to complete the installation. The on line video was very accurate. 108610

This was a snap, almost literally. Just remove the two factory installed connector guards and plug in the two connectors included on the harness. Then route it, secure it with the provided wire ties and double sided tape and button it up, that's it! 180000

  • How to Determine if a 2013 Kia Sorento has a Factory Towing Prep Package
  • The most definitive way to determine if your 2013 Kia Sorento has the factory towing prep package is to have the dealer run the VIN number. They will be able to you how it is equipped. The trailer wiring for vehicles with the tow prep package, # 118269, is located behind the driver side rear wheel along the frame rail. I have linked instructions for you. If you have a 4 cylinder model or a model without the tow prep package use # 118506. For a trailer hitch, the most popular option...

If you are interested in a hitch with a less obtrusive appearance, the Curt Class III, part # C13073 might be a better alternative. However, hitch # C13152 is rated for use with weight distribution whereas the lower capacity hitch is not. • There are three hitches compatible with your Santa Fe XL. All three hitches have a capacity that meets or exceeds the towing capacity of your vehicle, so capacity isn't an issue. The Curt Class III, part # C13153 is constructed of square tubing. The receiver opening and the entire crosstube would be visible from the rear of the vehicle. • What Trailer Hitches Will Fit a 2011 Kia Sorento SX
  • I have recently spoken to my contact at Hidden Hitch and Draw-Tite regarding Trailer Hitches, # 87574 and # 75684. He stated that there are no exclusions for the trailer hitches, except if the vehicle has dual exhaust, which means they should fit all models, including your 2011 Kia Sorento SX unless it has dual exhaust. I have included a link to the installation details below (both hitches share the same directions). If you plan on doing some towing, the recommended ball mount is # 2923...

  • Will the Spare Tire on a 2012 Kia Sorento be Blocked by Installing Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch 87574
  • With Hidden Hitch trailer hitch # 87574 installed, the spare tire can still be removed and replaced. Instead of it just dropping straight down, you would need to angle it down some and forward towards the front of the vehicle to remove/replace it. I have included links to the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you. If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. • Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2014 Kia Sorento EX
  • At this time there are no brake controller wiring harnesses for the 2014 Kia Sorento. To install a brake controller you would need to hardwire it in. If you can tell me if the vehicle has a factory 7-Way, aftermarket 7-Way or 4-Way, or no trailer connector, I can explain exactly what you will need and how to install the controller. If it has a factory 7-Way you will just need installation kit # 5506 for trailers with 6 to 8 brakes. You will attach the included circuit breaker under the...

  • How to Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • You will need a few different items to add a 7-way trailer connector to your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe because Hyundai did not offer a factory connection for a 7-way trailer connector, only for a 4-way. If your Santa Fe was pre-wired for the factory tow package, then the first item that you will want is the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118269. This will add a 4-way flat trailer connector. I have attached an installation video for you to check out. Next, you will need our Universal...

If you have a V6, you could have a tow package. What you can do is have a dealership run the VIN number of the vehicle and they can tell you what options it has. Some vehicles will have the wiring for the tow package present to accept the wiring harness, but it will not be functional. This...

  • Mounting 4-Pole Connector from T-1 Connector Part # 118269 on 2011 Hyundai Veracruz
  • The 4-pole connector at the end of your trailer wiring harness can certainly be zip tied, but using an installation bracket like part # 18144 along with a no drill mount like part # 18140 is recommended for a clean looking installation. A Mag-Flat, part # 38095 can be used instead of the bracket system. A storage box, part # 18145 is also offered. On my wifes KIA Sedona, I used the no drill mount, part # 18140, the bracket, part # 118137 and the knock out adapter, part # 30601. Your...

  • One Brake Controller for a 2004 Chevy Silverado and 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Because you have two different vehicles the best option is going to be either the P2 # 90885 or the Prodigy RF, # 90250. The P2 can be mounted a full 360 degrees in the direction of travel. This is good because of the different possible mounting locations on the 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. With many other controllers you would be limited in the mounting range and that could cause some brake controllers to not fit well on both vehicles. The Prodigy RF actually...
