Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side tail light. You will have to remove the tail light assembly to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited well be installing Tow Ready T-1 connector, part number 118416. To begin our install well need to remove the drivers side taillight assembly. Well remove the two inside screws and then pop the taillight assembly out of its position. Here we can gain access to the manufacturers wiring and well disconnect the taillight assembly from the wiring by pressing on the locking tab and pulling the connectors apart. Next, well set the taillight assembly aside and take our Tow Ready Harness and feed it down through the opening and then underneath the foam cover at the bottom of the drivers side quarter panel. This will feed our four pole underneath the vehicle.

Now with that done well go ahead and take the white wire with the pre-attached ring terminal and ground it to the body or sheet metal of the vehicle. Here on the drivers side visible through the taillight opening where the sheet metal doubles up will be a perfect ground location. Using the self-tapping screw provided with our install kit, well go ahead and run it into the sheet metal securing the ring terminal. Now with our ground installed were ready to go ahead and reinstall the taillight assembly. Well plug the Tow Ready Harness into the manufacturers wire and the other end of our Tow Ready Harness into the back of the taillight assembly.

Then well go ahead and reinstall the taillight assembly securing it with the fasteners. Next well get underneath the vehicle and start routing the wire over to the center of the hitch. Im going to feed it up over the body mount, go through the frame and then to the hitch. Now well go ahead and secure the wire using several black zip ties onto the back side of the hitch to protect it. Any excess from the wire can be fed back up and behind the taillight housing and well secure it with a zip tie through a hole in the body making sure the foam pad is reinstalled.

Well go ahead and cut off the excess from our zip ties. And this will complete the install of the Tow Ready T-1 Connector, part number 118416 on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Running a T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness to the Outside of Jeep
It is an easy process to install the wiring harness; I will quickly go over the steps, but also attach the instructions in a PDF file for your convenience. You are correct with assuming you use the taillights. Start on the driver's side, remove taillight, and plug harness in; next ground the harness with the white wire. Availability of Wiring Harness that Will Use 2010 Jeep Wrangler Lights while in Tow
You are looking for a different kit of wiring kit than part # 118416. You are looking for something like part # RM-154 or part # 38955. These are diode wiring kits that will allow the signal from the motor home to activate the Jeep tail lights, but not send power all the way up the Jeep circuits. Is a 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Mounting Bracket Recommended for a 2007 Jeep Wrangler
It is not required to have a mounting bracket for the 4-Way end of trailer wiring harness # 118416, but we do recommend it for a secure and professional appearance. You can use bracket # 18144 with either the short extension # 18140, or the long extension # 18136. I have included a link to a video that shows, in part, the installation of the mounting bracket.

Installing a Brake Controller on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler
Your brake controller will need to be hardwired. We offer an Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC6 for a 6-way connector, or part # ETBC7 for a 7-way. The install kit includes everything necessary for installing the controller, except for the T-1 connector needed to tap into the Jeeps lighting circuits.
