Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Jeep Grand Cherokee with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.

Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Jeep Grand Cherokee's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. If extra length is needed, you can cut the zip tie on the passenger side harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your Jeep Grand Cherokee, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee were going to install the Tow Ready T1 connector part :# 118425. First well need to access the rear cargo area of the vehicle. Well need to remove the drivers side real taillight lens assembly. There are two fasteners, there are push pin fasteners. Itll take a screwdriver to pry out the center of the fastener and then remove it. With our fasteners out well gently pry the lens assembly out away from the body of the vehicle.
Next what were going to do is disconnect the taillight connector from the lens assembly. It will be the large black connector with a red locking tab, so well unlock the locking tab pressing the connector lock and detach it from the lens assembly. Now we can take our new Tow Ready harness and plug it in line with the manufactures wiring. We will be using the yellow, brown and white wire and connectors and first well plug in and then well lock in place. The other end will go into the taillight assembly.
This plugs us in line with the manufactures wiring. The remaining wires we have is going to be a white and green wire and the 4 pole connector. These will get fed down between the bumper cover and the sheet metal of the vehicle. Alright, with our wire pulled down from underneath the vehicle well go ahead and install the drivers side taillight assembly. With the taillight assembly reinstalled well go ahead and get under the vehicle and start routing our wires.
Now, when routing our wires we want to keep them away from moving components such as the steering and such as the suspension or excessive heat such as the exhaust. To rout my white and green wire over to the passenger side Im going to feed them through in the inside of the bumper structure itself. To do this Im going to take a piece of air line or a stiff piece of wire as a wire lead to feed it through the bumper and pull it out the other side. Im going to tape my wire with a black electrical tape and just tape it to the end of my wire pole. Now well go ahead and pull it through the bumper over to the passenger side.
Alright, now that were over the passenger side with our white and green wire we can go ahead and remove the passenger side taillight assembly. Once we do that well feed our wire up behind the taillight and make the connection. To remove the passenger side taillight assembly well repeat the same process as we did on the driver side. Alright, now weve got our wire pulled up behind the taillight Ill go ahead and remove my pole wire. Well go ahead and make our connections to the taillight assembly. Now we can take our white wire with the ring terminal, this will be our ground wire, and attach it here to the body to ground our harness. Well use our self-tapping screw to run it directly into the body of the vehicle. Alright, with our ground made we can go ahead and reinstall the taillight assembly. Well go ahead and close the car door, get back underneath the vehicle and complete routing and securing our wires. Rout it up behind the bumper structure and over to our hitch. Now Ill just take some black zip ties and secure my wire. With my wire secured Ill just take my side cutters and go ahead and cut the excess from our zip ties. And that will complete the install of our Tow Ready T1 connector part #: 118425 on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

I too thought the harness was too short, but it turned out that there is a zip tie holding the passenger side wires to the driver side. You can snip that zip tie off and give yourself some slack. 31060

This harness is easy to install and works great. The harness is NOT too short as some reviews have indicated. I'm glad I read the reviews first to see that others were having trouble with this. All you have to do is clip one of the cable ties holding the harness together and there is more than enough wire to reach the passenger side.41308

Have a 2011 Jeep GC- product works great- don't listen to the other reviews about harness being too short. It's close, but you have to watch not to get the small transfer box on harness caught up on anything- that's what it did and I threw a fit, but once I figured it out I had about 1-2in to play with on both tail lamps. The hitch wire/plug has plenty of length- prob about 1ft extra that I zipped up behind bumper cover. I did have to drill a very small hole at the bottom of the rear body for the ground. *Etrailer was very, very fast with the shipping, even with the free shipping. Would definitely buy from again18420

So far so good! Trailer hitch & wire harness arrived & I installed them without any problems. The installation video's for both the hitch and the wiring were excellent. Much better than the written instructions provided with the product. For the wiring installation I was under my Jeep with my ipad watching the video. As others mentioned I did have to clip one of the preinstalled wire ties to provide enough length to connect both lights. The product is very easy to install. For those with comments about the wires being too short to get to the passenger side, all you have to do is cut a zip tie on the harness and there is more than enough wire supplied. This is a very nice product. Simple to install. Solid construction. Plenty of wire length. Just be very careful when pulling the tail lights - wiggle, pull, shake to work the locating studs loose. It will come. Resist the temptation to pry and chip the light like I did. Tuck the splice socket between the tail and backup light reflectors to get it out of the way when going back in. Lube the studs and rubber sockets with a little soapy water when going back in. It helps a lot.56087

Don't listen to anyone who says its too short. Just clip the last zip tie if it does not reach for you. Don't cut the harness like some have said. This goes in quick, only other thing I would add is take some of the paint off around your ground hole so you get a bit better contact; steel wool works great. 53084

Like most people, i read most of the reviews for this product with half of them stating the wiring was not long enough and the other stating it was. I found this to be both truthful and false. Using the wiring as it was shipped resulted in it not being long enough to cover the spread between my tail lights. After I noticed this, I reviewed how the wiring was held together and noticed that a zip tie was shortening the overall length of the wire. I cut one(1) zip-tie and then had more than enough length of wiring to connect to both tail lights. Very good product, i have not had an issue since installing.50855

I was very pleased with the price, quality and speed of delivery. The only negative I have that you may want to correct is that the wiring harness, supposedly made to fit my Jeep Grand Cherokee, was about 18"to 24" too short when attempting to run the harness from the driver side connection to the passenger side connection. I was able to correct this by splicing in an additional length of wire in order to make the passenger side connection and enable the ground wire to be attached as shown in your video. No problem or action on your part is required other than you may want to get the manufacturer to lengthen this portion of the harness. Thanks for asking.50433

Thank you etrailer for a trouble free experience. My order was processed early, and this product arrived a day sooner than anticipated. After reading some of the reviews on here about the harness being too short - I was slightly apprehensive, but I possess some wire strippers and a bit of common sense, so I thought I would give it a shot. The entire process took 15 minutes. The hardest part was removing the tail-light assembly (2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee - just pull firmly straight towards the rear once the two fasteners are removed. Its tricky to grip, and the internal plastic clips offer a bit of resistance - but it will come). Yes, there is an extra zip-tie on the harness which makes things tight if you are routing through the bumper as the video shows. Simply snip that tie, and installation is a breeze. I will be placing more orders without hesitation when the needs arise.43743

Installation of this harness was very easy after I watched the harness install video. Together with this harness, I also ordered from etrailer, a 10 foot long plastic wire loom (PN 39035) which I used to cover the wires before installation. I thought this would insure protection of the harness wiring as it is routed under the bumper. This harness would have been perfect if it came with the plastic wire loom already installed. It only took me a few more minutes to install the loom so no big deal. The harness was of perfect length and all the connectors just snapped easily.20265

This harness would get an excellent rating but is is too short. I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee. The video shows the harness going thru the bumper tube. Way too short. I have a 2007 Laredo and as others have mentioned the wire harness is too short. I watched the video and the harness in the video appears to be plenty long. I bought this wiring harness as an after thought. I had purchased the trailer hitch earlier in the year to mount a bike rack on my Grand Cherokee and since I do not own anything that needs to be towed there was no reason for having a harness. Since that time I have had to tow a few thing like a Uhaul trailer and a rented log splitter so now the need is there. I have dealt with eTrailer on other occassions and so far EVERY experience has been a good one. When I decided to get a harness I did not spend any time loooking anywhere else. I had read the reviews and although most were positive I did see a few that were negative about the length of this item. I will admit that on my first attempt I also thought that someone made a mistakewith the length. I did take a few more minutes and tried another route and had more than enough wire. To get enough length, all you need to do is cut the zip-tie that holds the two halves together. Peel the bonded wire apart till you get enough length, then you can tie them back with a new zip-tie.
