Today we're going to review Part #119147KIT. This is the toe ready, upgraded, module light vehicle wiring harnessing kit with the four way trailer connector, right here. It does include the module light install kit, also, everything shown here on the table. We'll go through all the pieces here in a minute. Now, this part will virtually eliminate any draw in your vehicle's tail light circuit. On a lot of your newer cars you're wiring is so thin that when you try to plug in a trailer it could overload your tail light circuit and cause major problems. What you're gonna do here is this module light when you connect it on your tow vehicle this will connect directly to the battery which will take away anything running through your tail light circuit. This will work with either LED's or incandescent bulbs on both trailer and vehicle.
It will work with most vehicles multi-plex wiring systems for lighting. The tail light circuit has been upgraded to work with vehicles using the PWM which is the Pulse with Modulation. It allows the converter to turn on fully giving your trailer maximum light brightness. This part will power your trailers stop, turn, tail, and running lights directly from the tow vehicles battery. This can be used on two and three wire systems. The thing you do have to remember when you use it on a two wire system that this red brake wire must be grounded.
This will eliminate the need for a heavy duty flasher. It does include everything shown here. It even includes a circuit tester, the extra length of wire to run to your battery on your vehicle, some five quick splices here so when you help install it and again, it includes the four way trailer connector cover which is attached to the four way. So, when you're not plugged in you can put it on there to cover the terminals. The rating on this- the maximum stop and turn light circuit one per side is 2.1 amps. The maximum tail light is 7.5 amps.
Included with this you get the module light with the length of wire with the four way on it, and the cover, and all your wires to connect. You also get a nice set of detailed instructions which shows you how to install this. I had mentioned you get the circuit tester so when you hook your wires up you can test the circuits on your vehicle to make sure you are hooking it up correctly, the quick splice connectors, you also get a screw that will help you attach and get a clean ground. All the connectors here and even double-faced tape for attaching your module light down keeping it from bouncing around, some zip ties to take up any length of wire that might be hanging down, and also this is your in-line fuse holder comes with the 10 amp fuse. Basically, when you go to install this what you'll do is .. all these wires coming out of your module light, your green wire, and again you'll use these quick splice connectors when you connect it.
Green wire will go to your right turn signal. Your red, again, is your brake light signal. The yellow would go to your left turn signal. The brown would connect to your tail lights. The white that has the eyelet on it that would go to a good, clean ground. We mentioned that it comes with a grounding screw, if needed. The last one, the important one, is the larger black wire- now this is what we'll run to the 12 volt power so, you need to run this all the way up to your battery. To do that, you get this length of wire. You'll connect it with the butt connector and run it up to length and then using this you'll connect to the butt connector to one side of this in-line fuse holder on the other side of the fuse holder you can choose between one of these two eyelets. They give you two of 'em because, they're different sizes. If you're going to connect to the top or the side post of the battery. You'll connect this to the positive side post of your battery using one of these. Then once before you use the system you'll take your 10 amp fuse, go ahead and put it into the in-line fuse holder. Then put the cover back on. As I mentioned, you have zip ties if any of this you run to the front of your car the wire needs to be tied up you can use your included zip ties. That should do it for the review of Part #119147KIT. I just installed by my own on BMW 135i 2010 despite the fact few dealers and u-haul refused to help me. It is a way easier installation(45mins) as compared to other car brands, because the battery is at the back of the car. The only thing you would need from the kit is one more butt connector. I had a problem to find a place for ground - but it is solvable. I used crocodile connector and tape to connect to one of the screws of the back light. One more easy thing for dummies. To test the right wire you will need to connect one end of the tester to the ground of the car, switch on the light to test and connect the tester(which is also in the kit). For tail light you will need to switch on the car engine. If you do not want to test these here are the colors you use in your car Left side of the car in multibulb assembly wires: MODULITE ----------------------------------------------135i LEFT TURN -------------------------------------- Blue wire with green stripe BRAKES ----------------------------------------- Purple with Yellow stripe Left side of the car on Tail light bulb harness: TAIL LIGHTS ------------------------------------ Purple wire with Light Blue stripe Right side of the car in multibulb assembly: RIGHT TURN ------------------------------------- Blue wire with Brown stripe ^^^I took this description from open source of one of the BMW forums. I recommend the Tow-Ready 119147KIT instead of the Curt Model for a 2013 Prius. I had to return the Curt Kit because the running lights/tail light stayed on all the time even with the vehicle off. Sometimes there wasn’t a tail/running light on if you reset the converter by removing and re-installing the fuse. This Tow-Ready model works like it should. You'll need 12 gauge wire to run from the battery, (right side hatch area,) to this unit which will need to be mounted on the driver’s side, rear hatch. At the very top of the left rear tail light are covered wires going into a plug. The Blue is the Stop light and the Brown is the tail/running light. (Be careful since these wires are thin solid copper wires.) Left turn signal is the green/yellow stripe wire and on the right side rear lamp the right turn signal is also the green/yellow stripe wire. You will need to remove the left rear panel to get to the blue and brown wires. Remove the bottom tray cover, the bottom tray as well as the left rear plastic tray and the plastic bottom hatch trim over the latch assembly. Remove the Phillips screw on the left rear panel as well as the chrome tie down clamp. This sounds harder than it really is. Good luck! 134002

2014 WRX wagon at taillight: WHT/RED = Turn signal BLK/WHTstripe = Running light BRN = Brake light I mounted the modulator behind the left turn signal. I routed the power wire through the trunk via rubber access plug. I then fished the power wire under rear seat and stuffed it under plastic trim molding along the doors. I went behind left kick panel and then came out and ran it into the fender well, between the door and the fender, and up a structure tube into the engine compartment. The wire is safe from damage and will not be crushed by shutting the door because of the rubber door seal. I ran my XM ant. wire like this also and there are no negative consequences. 144319
Recently purchased this to go with a Hidden Hitch for a 2005 Honda Element. Everything was delivered on-time and in perfect condition. While the hitch went on smoothly, I had originally viewed the video for installing a kit on an Element but the kit in the video is not the same. The extra step for installing the power tap off the battery took some extra time. Not having a lift or a good way to really get a good look under the car to route the power line. I also added some conduit for the power line to protect it. The only thing that really didn't fit properly were the supplied ring terminals, I had to pick up a different size for the battery terminal. I also had to get some wire for the right turn signal since the right turn signal wire was not long enough to reach the right turn signal for the connection. 250377
The electrical kit took me about 3 hours to install, I liked that it included a test light with a sharp probe for finding the correct wires. I also like that it isolates the trailer power away from the car lights. This is not your auto part store $20 converter plug. This unit, takes the signals from the car's lights but draws the power from the battery so it does not overload the car's lights. This prevents things like the speed of the turn signal changing that can happen with cheap converters. I did not used the include wire clamps, rather I soldered the wires for better connection that will last for the life of the car. 323166

Just completed the installation of the 119147KIT on a 2014 Lexus RX350 and it works great. Everything needed was included in the kit and the installation process was fairly easy. Easy to install, it just takes time. Connecting all the wires in the back of my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 was quick and easy. Running the wire to the battery and hooking it up took the most time but still easy enough to do myself. Since I also got ETBC7, I ran both wires together up to the battery. The wires on my vehicle had the same color coding as the harness so I didn't have to probe any of them to see which was the left turn signal, the right turn signal, or the running lights. 284245

I installed this wiring kit on my 2014 BMW X1 to use with my small boat trailer. The installation was easy and I had no trouble making it work. I do recommend that you use the included tester to determine which wires are which, and don't rely on advice from the Internet as to the wiring color scheme. Anyone who is comfortable drilling a hole and working with simple wiring should have no trouble installing this themselves. 283413

Received the hitch for my Element within a few days of placing the order. Straight forward and easy to install. Tips I read in reviews were helpful. Such as taping the 3/4" washers in place and installing the U-bolt first to support the weight. No instructions came with wiring harness. The video on your website showing every step of the install was SUPER helpful. I didn't even need to use the circuit tester because the guy in the video described the wiring so accurately. One need for improvement: The green wire that goes over to the passenger side tail light needs to be about a foot longer to fit correctly in a 2013 Chevy Volt. Other than that, perfect! 252311

Very very confusing and incomplete directions, NO way to understand the difference between the red "2 wire or 3 wire setup" Very very annoying, parts missing in, i.e. 12 gage wire, fuze for battery connection. Everything needed for a clean install is provided. The only problem I had was the quick splice wire connectors. The 2015 Subaru WRX had very small diameter wiring for the tail and brake light wires and the wire connectors would not make contact. I spliced the wires manually and everything worked fine. 135872
Generic kit but with the included test light I was able to install it solo! I could press on the brake pedal and look back at the test light. The green wire was not long enough for my Volt so I had to splice in extra wire. The kit says it will work with LED lights in the car or on the trailer. 103644
