Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Jeep Cherokee's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the spare tire and quarter panel trim to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Jeep Cherokee's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Jeep Cherokee operate.

Product installs in-line with the factory installed wiring harness and converts a 5-wire system to a 4-wire trailer connection. Unfortunately, the ground wire does not tap into the factory ground wire. Rather, there is a connector for attaching the converter's ground wire to the vehicle frame. I had to cut off this connector, strip back the insulation on the factory ground wire, and solder the ground wires together. If you don't mind doing the extra work this converter works fine, otherwise select and different model and taps into the factory ground wire.47943

Installation couldn't have been easier. Remove spare tire, back out 4 or 5 trim screws, pull off an interior trim panel, plug in harness, and put it all back together. Took about 10 minutes from start to finish.24340

Easiest upgrade ive made yet. this is by far the best upgrade to my jeep yet. the last owner had jerry-rigged something scary with the wiring and for a trailer. a splice here, a idk there... all i had to do was rip his weirdness out of the walls :) and simply plug in the t-connector. yes, it IS that easy...3478
