Video Transcript for Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring HM11143395 Review

Today, were going to review part number HM11143395. This is the Hopkins 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat, Multi-Tow Wiring Harness for the Toyota Tundra. This part is designed to fit the 2007 to 2014 Toyota Tundra. With the factory 7-way, it is intended to be a factory replacement for your vehicle if it come equipped with the 7-way. Basically, it comes with all the parts shown here. The mounting bracket comes with the hardware to mount the bracket to your vehicle and to mount this connector to the bracket. It comes with some dielectric grease to put onto your connections to help prevent corrosion, and it comes with some detailed instructions to tell you how to install it.Basically, what you would do, this gives you a 7-way and a 4-way on your vehicle.

The way to install this is I would take your mounting bracket first and run it through on your cable, through there. Your mounting bracket has the four holes you can see that will line up to the four holes on the 7-way. Just line those up using the hardware and attach that, and then the other package of hardware is to mount this to the rear of your vehicle. The way you connect this is you just go down to the neck of your vehicle and disconnect behind the 7-way thats on your vehicle now, and you have these two plugs. One is a 5-pin plug. The others a 2-pin plug.

You would just match these connectors up to the ones underneath the vehicle behind the 7-way that you have now, plug them right in, then youd be all ready to go.That should do it for the review on part number HM11143395. The Hopkins 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat, Multi-Tow Wiring Harness for the Toyota Tundra. .

2008 Toyota Tundra

I received my Hopkins wiring harness and day before the estimated delivery date. The kit itself was very easy to install. I did need to slightly modify the mounting bracket to match up the factory mount on my 2008 Tundra. Installation took all of 20 minutes. That's from removal of the old to the install of the new (including securing the wires from rubbing on the frame with a couple ties). Very good replacement piece. Thanks etrailer.com 80497

Comments

After a year of use there are no issues with the harness or its use. This was and is a good product and I am very happy with it! Thanks etrailer.

2007 Toyota Tundra

My truck: 2007 Tundra, double cab, SR5, build date 8/07 with factory tow package and wiring. The OEM trailer cord has two plugs which hook to my truck with a 2 prong and 5 prong connectors. The Hopkins HM11143395 which has this configuration is listed for a 2008 Tundra. A Hopkins 43385 is listed for the 2003 to 2007 Tundra. This cord has a 3 prong and a 4 prong arrangement. I think Toyota did a running changeover on the OEM trailer cord plug and hence that is why my truck requires the HM11143395. So buyer be aware. Check your connector plugs before ordering. HM11143395's bracket needed to be altered to mount to my truck. Everything is installed and checked with a meter but have not hooked it up to a trailer yet. Do not foresee any problems. 43232

Just an update with my 2007 Tundra, double cab, SR5, build date 807. I did install the HM11143395 as noted above . I have hooked the truck up to six different trailers and the lights all work properly.I also see etrailer added a video on the running change by Toyota on the 2007 Tundra.

2007 Toyota Sequoia

I searched online for the correct trailer harness and couldn't find it for my 2007 Toyota Sequoia SR5. Even your website did not have anything listed for my vehicle. But I traced my short to the factory trailer harness (tail lights stop working, all other lights worked). Thanks to your detailed description, pictures and video, I thought I would give a try. All the other ones I found online did not look like my wiring connectors, yours look exactly the same as mine. Like you guys stated Toyota had a design change in 2007 for the Tundra, and changed it on my Sequoia also. Now all my trailer lights work perfectly. The only thing I had to do was make the drill holes bigger on the mounting bracket to align and fit perfectly with my factory location and bolts, not a big deal at all. Took about five minutes. Hopefully this will help anyone looking for a lower affordable price, for a factory replacement trailer harness for their Toyota Sequoia. I've attached a picture of my factory trailer harness connector. 201114

Product was easy to install. I actually installed it through the bumper so that I could not crush it AGAIN. With minor fabricating I had the old one out and the new one in within 25 minutes. Couldn't have been easier. Super fast delivery too! 116519

As other reviewers mentioned, the gauge of the mounting bracket steel is rather flimsy when compared to the original equipment. I reused the bracket that attaches to the vehicle frame by drilling holes into the Hopkins bracket and securing the two together. The product was simple to install and the electric grease came in handy. The shipping was quick as well. I would recommend this product. 138793

2007 Toyota Tundra

Fits my 2007 Tundra SR5 perfectly. I did not buy this as a replacement but instead an addition. My tundra was purchased without the tow kit; however, the factory left harness in and all I had to do was plug this in (check to see if yours is already there). Saved me a bunch of money as Toyota wanted over 200$ for this part... Not to mention the "labor cost." I mounted it differently because of the Hitch I bought. I used this: http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Tow-Ready/18136.html 116629

Harness: I like the dual type connection (I'm not a trailer guy) that apparently is the most common used. Hardware was zinc and because of potential rusting, I replaced it with weather protection hardware. The connections fit perfect, did not need to modify. Only modification was to the bracket; drilled holes so would fit horizontal to existing bracket rather than vertical. Hitch ball and mount: Fits great and works great. Good quality. For theft protection I purchased the receiver padlock rather than the coter pin style. Great quality and feels very sturdy. Glad I found your company, thanks bunches. Already told friends about your quality. 17868

This product was easy to install with minor changes to my truck. That said, the great part of this was dealing with e-trailer. I was on the verge of ordering the wrong product, and there was a page warning me I was ordering the wrong piece for my truck. After looking more closely, I would have been in big trouble and ruined a spring break trip. Thank you e-trailer, great experience! 73451

Comments

After doing a lot of trailering last summer, and some sporadic trips this winter, I can happily say the wiring harness is working just fine. I hope it continues, and I have no concerns!

I'm not much on reviews. But after calling Toyota for this plug and getting a price that was crazy for a 18 inch pig tail. Then waiting for my normal mechanic for a month to screw around . He bought the wrong one after looking at it and having all the info in hand. So I finally told him ill take care of it . So in about 15 mins of me crawling under and double checking and comparing to the pic u provide on line . Very very pleased and I've been telling all my friends . U have followed up on every detail. Ill be back . Thank u . 75727

2007 Toyota Tundra

My 2007 Tundra factory 7 way harness was shorted out by a faulty trailer plug that melted my harness with the short. The Hopkins replacement worked perfectly. It did require drilling of 2 holes in the original mounting bracket to allow for the new mounting bracket to be attached but that was easy and fast. The 5 and 2 connections were factory exact and plugged right into the existing harness. I liked the vehicle specific videos that Etrailer produced for this part. Works perfectly. Thank you, Jim 274825

Very happy with my order from etrailer. You had my order in stock and it was sent right away. Even when I needed another part I was easily able to call your customer service department and they took care of me right away and were very nice! Your customer service department was the easiest department I've talked to. Thank you for allowing me to be a customer and taking care of what I needed. I will keep your company in mind when needing something again. :) 135969

Product received earlier than expected. Meets my expectations. Have not installed it yet as I just received it today but it is exactly what I was looking for. Dealer wanted to charge me $100 for the same piece, I am very glad I was able to find this which has more than what I asked for and was way cheaper. In the future, if I am in need of any trailer or towing accessories I will be sure to come back to this website. Thank you very much for your service. 63728

Product exactly replaces the OEM unit at a fraction of the cost. I should have bought two in case I drag my back end and break it again! It's not that the quality is such that they break, but water bars and off roading can be hard on hitch components. The wire quick connectors clipped exactly into place. The mounting bracket needed some minor modifications, but nothing that you can't manage if you were installing this thing int he first place. 17642

Great product and much more affordable than OEM. Removing the left license plate light makes for a great alternative spot for your trailer connection. The chance of hitting it on a big rock again is gone. Lots of room behind for the wire bundle. 162406

This was really easy to install and all my trailer lights are working again! My factory connector gave out and all the female parts pulled out and left me with no trailer lights. Now I'm ready to go and tow again without the worry of getting pulled over and getting a possible ticket. Etrailer sent me an e-mail throughout the whole shipping process and wanted to make sure I was happy with my purchase. What an awesome experience! 220907

Product works great. $300 less than what the local Toyota dealer wanted for the same thing. If I ever need an item(s) again I will check with etrailer first. The price for this item was less than the local automotive parts stores had for similar items that fit ford, chevy etc. Even with snail mail the package was here in the northeast in five days. Yes, I recommend etrailer.com to anyone. 15493

Ordered this with economy shipping and I got it super fast! I had to modify the supplied bracket to fit my 2007 Tundra, but once mounted it easily plugged in to my existing wire harness and BAM! Very happy with the quality of this product for just a small amount of the new cost of an original OEM. No complaints about this at all. 242547

Nice product for the price. Original equipment was ridiculously priced in comparison. Would like to see a more substantial mounting bracket. The original is MUCH heavier duty. I ended up drilling for holes in the original bracket and mounting whole unit on the original bracket. Much stronger, looks good, and am very happy. 187858

This is a great replacement for only about $35! Plugs right in and is durable. The bracket included seemed a little weak compared to the OEM bracket, but with a 10 minute modification you can use the OEM bracket and not drill any new holes. Excellent choice considering the OEM replacement is over $230.00! 173384

Products are good but etrailer shipped them with no manufacturer box or instructions. All they did was remove them from their original boxes and threw them into another box for shipping! No packing material or anything, just a bunch of loose parts rattling away! Pretty sad Etrailer. 20595

As advertised. However the mounting bracket had to be redrilled to match the factory holes under the bumper. Otherwise the connectors fit with the factory wiring and appears to be working fine. It may not be as heavy duty as factory parts but it is also1/6 the cost. 41211

The only issue that I had with this product was that the bracket to attach the wiring kit to the truck did not match(2008 Toyota Tundra). After a couple of modifications, I was able to attach it to the truck. Other then that, everything else fit perfectly. 93194

Not excellent, but better than good. Mounting Plate not the right plate for a 2010 Tundra, and holes do not align. Had to bend plate, and redrill holes to larger diameter and placement. Not quite as "plug and chug" as I had hoped for. 38295

  • How to Identify a Trailer Connector on a 2009 Toyota Tundra
  • If your 2009 Toyota Tundra came with the factory tow package, then it should have a 7-way round trailer connector attached to the bottom of the rear bumper to the left of the trailer hitch (see photo). I recommend looking at the back of your truck to see if you have the factory 7-way trailer connector. If your truck does not have a 7-way trailer connector and you are sure your truck was equipped with the factory tow package, there should be two connectors under the vehicle near the frame...

  • Which Replacement 4-Way and 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2007 Toyota Tundra
  • The part you have selected, the Hopkins Tow Package Wiring Kit for Toyota Tundra, part # HM11143395, is specified for 2008 - 2010 Toyota Tundra trucks. This part has two grey connectors to couple with the factory wiring; one is a 2-wire rectangular connector and the other a 5-wire square connector. It will be a good idea to inspect the existing connectors on your Tundra to confirm the number of wires going to each so that you are certain of the replacement. Toyota did make some running...

  • Replacement 7-Way Wiring Harness for a 2007 Toyota Tundra
  • Since your truck has a 5 pin plug and a 2 pin plug for the trailer connector, you will want the Hopkins Tow Package Wiring Kit, # HM11143395, that you referenced. Toyota made a change to the tow package wiring during the 2007 model year, so some 2007 models, like yours, are wired like the 2008 - 2010 models.

  • How Does the Hopkins Tow Package Wiring Kit # HM11143395 Install On a 2010 Toyota Tundra
  • As long as your 2010 Toyota Tundra has the factory tow package 7-way connection harness underneath the rear of your truck this would simply plug in and you would be ready to go. However, if you do not have the factory harness you will still be able to plug this unit in. I would recommend plugging the Hopkins Tow Package Wiring Kit, part # HM11143395, and testing the wires to make sure the tow package is complete. If you have a 4-way trailer connector and you are looking upgrade to a...

  • Trailer Lights Work but No Power On Brake Output Pin on 2008 Toyota Tundra Towing 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Depending on what type of trailer connector you have on the truck and trailer you may be checking the wrong pin. If you have a 6-Way round connector, such as # PK11609, the brake output pin will either be the center pin or the pin in the 10 oclock position on the vehicle, 2 oclock on the trailer side. On a 7-Way connector, such as # HM11143395, the brake output pin is in the 5 oclock position on the truck side and the 7 oclock position on the trailer side. If none of the pins mentioned...

  • In order to determine if you can use the Hopkins Tow Package Wiring for Toyota Tundra # HM11143395 that you referenced, you will first want to check for the mating connectors at the rear of your truck, near the bumper. If your Tundra has the mating connectors, one with 5 pins and the other with 2, you will want to use a circuit tester, like # 40376, to test the functions of each of the pins on the vehicle connectors. I have attached a photo of the connectors on the wiring harness with...

This will plug into your factory tow package wiring harness and give you a 7-way and 4-way at the rear of your vehicle. It looks just like the # 20137 picture, but has a different connector for the 2008 to 2010 Toyota Tundra. • Adding a 4 and 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2007 Toyota Tundra
  • In order to install a 7-Way trailer connector on a 2007 Toyota Tundra, it would be a hardwire situation, as the HM11143395 will not fit. Instead you would need to have a 4-Way or add a 4-Way using # 119179KIT, and then use a 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. I have included a link to the installation details for the 4-Way and links to an FAQ and video showign the installation of an ETBC7 kit. • 4-Way And 7-Way Adapter For 2014 Toyota Tundra
  • If you have a 7-way connector on your 2014 Toyota Tundra, the harness I recommend is the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # HM11143395. Both the 4-way and the 7-way connector are active at the same time on the harness. You may want to check your Tundra owner's manual for any information as to its wiring capacity to avoid any potential for overloading the vehicle circuit.

  • Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2014 Toyota Tundra
  • You would want to install a brake controller. You should check with your local laws and regulations to determine what towing setups are required to have trailer brakes activated by a brake controller. Some states require trailer brakes and a brake controller on any vehicle that is towing a trailer, but in your situation I would strongly recommend one. We recommend that at the very least if the trailer weighs over 50 percent of the weight of the tow vehicle than a brake controller should...
