Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Honda Civic with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. Circuit-protected converter guards against shorts.
Features:
Specs:
Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Honda Civic's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Honda Civic's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Honda Civic operate.
This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Today on this 2008 Honda Civic we are going to install part number 118420 from Tow Ready. This is our T-One wiring harness. First, we are going to get inside the trunk area. We will show you the layout of the T-One connector. The yellow wire goes to the driver side, so does the red and brown wire. The green wire will go all the way to the passenger side. :20
Just use simple clamps to hold the cover up into place. Next, we will remove the threshold panel right here. We will remove the panel right here by removing these two fasteners. You should be able to pull it out enough to get to our connection points. We will then start making our wire connections. :40
The connection for the red and brown wires will fit right here. Make sure they match up so you know you have the right part. Snap this back into the tail light and take your factory harness and plug it back into the T-One. Now we will deal with the yellow wire, it will be your turn signal circuit. Pull this tab out and it comes apart. Plug that into our T-One connector and the T-One connector into the tail light. Next we will install our ground. We will use this factory ground right here. We are done with that side, now lets take our green wire and run that across to the passenger side. Repeat the same process with that wire. This will be our connection point for our green wire. Next we will find a place for our modulite. We will adhear it to the backside of the body work right here. We will take a second here to zip tie our wires up and take care of the slack. Snap our threshold back in place. 2:01
We have our wiring installed, I will show you how to use it. Pull it out, set it on this seal right here because it is thick enough that it will not hurt it when you shut the hatch on it. Just make sure you stay away from the latch right here, and pull out what you need to reach your trailer hitch or trailer. When you are not using it you can keep it safely stored away with the spare tire so it will not be sitting outside all the time getting corroded up. With that, that will finish our install of part number 118420 from Tow Ready.

took some time to place hitch and run bolts ,but would be able to do another one a lot faster now that I have done the first. great product worked in drive way with a smaller jack. Took about a hour but a lot of that was jacking up blocking and trying to make the car safe to get under. Holding the hitch, getting bolts centered ,nuts started kind of a pain by myself a second set of hands would have been great help. Just a small helper handing parts or tool while I hold the hitch up would be great55009

The harness has the appearance of good design, quality manufacture, ruggedness and durability. The connectors fit snugly and securely. The wires are right-sized (length). It works as expected. I installed the wiring harness myself, and initially had problems. I tried to connect to the first two tail light connectors I saw, instead of locating the specified light for a specified harness connector. I thought the wiring harness connectors were misfit. Customer service gently encouraged me to activate the specific light (turn signal or running lights), find that tail light and then connect that harness connection to it. I reluctantly complied, tried it, and found that it worked (as advertised). I called back to thank CS and apologize for being moronic. I was assured that I wasn't a moron. Customer service was patient, tolerant and helpful - a pleasure to deal with.9567

it Works in a 2007 Civic Si Sedan I'm not exactly sure why it says it will not work with the Civic Si models. I researched parts from Honda and found that the tail light wire harness for the 2007 Civic EX and Si are the same. So this past summer I went on a limb and purchased this unit rather than the alternative one which would have required me to spice into wires. I've confirmed that it does work on a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan. It may not work for 2008+ Si Sedans, and it may not work for 2006+ Si Coupes, but I know for sure it works on my 2007 Si Sedan without problems. Installation was easy. I read some folks complaining about directions and I don't understand why., I found the directions nearly unnecessary, it's a pretty simple plug-in and go item. If you have a basic understanding of wiring or you've wired up a trailer before, it should be very straight forward where everything needs to plug into and why. I will admit though that you want to layout all the wiring first to decide the best way to mount the harness in your trunk. The process does give you the feeling that you could work for West Coast Customs when you're done.4423

After receiving very good direction for removing the original plugs, installing the harness was simple. Really plug and play. I ordered the wrong harness and received the correct one in just a couple of days. I have purchased several items from etrailer, and their shipping and service have been top rate. I have never before written a review of a purchase; this one stands out so that I do so with pleasure. Dan McBeth64421

Install went off without a hitch (no pun intended). I jacked up the car, threaded the fish wire, all in all pretty simple. I actually did it on my own and it went well. I was under the car an braced the bar up, was able to get one of the nuts on and put the other two on to hold it into place while I finagled the other side into place (the passenger side outlet on the muffler was kinda in the way). I was able to get it on easily but tightening the last nut (closest to the back of the car) was a bit tough because the hitch frame gets in the way. Overall, it was simple, it's all tightened down, and now we can tow a trailer/cargo/whatever! Thanks etrailer, your prices beat anyone on the internet and Uhaul by at least 100 bucks.59089

After watching the installation videos I was a little concerned about how to route the power wire to the car battery. It turns out this wiring harness doesn't need a power wire. No need to cut/split wires either. Just unplug the connector from the rear light assembly, plug it into the wiring harness female connector and then plug the wiring harness male connector back into the light assembly. The whole process took me about 45 minutes. This went on a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback with regular light bulbs.56824

Just wanted to say I'm really happy with the wiring harness for my 2009 Honda Civic. Installation was really easy and thank you to etrailer for the video install. This past year, I've bought a hitch for my civic, for my Fiancee subaru and the wiring harness, and etrailer is an awesome seller. Finally, the wiring harness works great. I was able to install the harness, and then take my trailer to pick up my new living room couch!!! Thank you Etrailer, keep up the great work!!56793

Product was very good. instructions for the hitch were great. Video was just whatt was needed. Instead of enlarging the frame holes in the car I chose to grind 1/16 inch from sides of rectangular spacers. Please note do not have to remove 10 inches from heat shields only 8 inches. This provides a more professional installation. The wire harness works great as well. Better instructions would have been more helpful in the wiring kit. Overall for the price this is a very good product.40357

The service was excellent again, this being my third hitch and harness set purchased over a few years from eTrailer. The T-One wiring harness is an excellent product, far superior to cutting and splicing on your vehicle’s wiring, particularly now with the small wires used with the LED lights of modern cars. The installation was straight forward, though the instructions could be greatly improved with some model-specific detail on removing trunk panels, and on identifying the correct vehicle plugs. Ultimately, the number of pins in the connector guides the match-up, but a little more information would speed the process. Overall, an excellent product from an excellent company. Good customer service, prompt delivery, quality products. 29780

The T-One wiring harness is an excellent product. It attaches to the original wiring precisely, leaving the job completely reversable should that ever be desired. Special thanks to Jim T!!! I actually owned this for roughly a year before installing the harness. Much like Jim, the hitch went on without a problem, and when I made it to the installation instructions for the harness, I stared at it and my trunk for 15 minutes and put it on the shelf....(yes, i have two engineering degrees.....) I settled for the main intended use of the hitch for carrying bikes :) I decided to following Jims instructions this weekend when I went back to the website to find the "directions" again. Installation was complete within 10-15 minutes thanks to his painstaking instruction writeup. Key is to remove the strip edge piece first. I was able to do the right hookup without removing any panel fasteners, and only had to remove one for the left side (for those of you who try it without, you do have the proper wiring harness, there is a fourth plug above the other three for the missing harness connection (that cost me half of the installation time). A few tie wraps, a few snaps and back in business!! works like a charm. Thanks Jim, there was no need for you to do that but you made the world a better place from your effort!!!2099

Feed the directions to the dog While the hitch went on my '06 Civic without a problem, this wiring harness allowed our neighbors to learn some new colorful hyphenated words, fitting to my level of aggravation! While the quality of the product was certainly top-notch, the installation instructions were almost unintelligible, highly generic and ambiguous. I rolled them into a ball after 10 minutes and used them to play fetch with the dog. Here are some tips to make this a 10 minute deal instead of 1-1/2 hours that it cost me. PREPARATION - After the trunk mat is out, remove the plastic interior trunk edge piece (about 2' long and right below the bottom of the trunk opening). To do this, lift up and inward at the same time. There are 4 plastic pins and a location tab that hold this in place. If you simply pull on it from the bottom, you'll break off the plastic locator tab. BE CAREFUL! Once this is off, simply remove the three plastic fasteners from the trunk material so as to gain access to the back of the tailights. It's helpful to have a partner hold this material out of the way while you work. INSTALL - You'll see 4 groupings of wiring coming off the little black logic box, one is for the 4-pin trailer harness and the other three connect to the tailights. 2 of the wire groups (the one with the single yellow wire and the one with the 2 wires) go to the drivers side tailight and the single green wire goes to the passenger side tailight. There are 3 connectors on each tailight, each being different, so it's impossible to make an error connecting. These connectors remove by depressing a tab on the edge of the connector while pulling. For each of the 3 wire groups, simply attach the two connectors in series with the disconnected lead from each tailight. There is a main ground lug just below the drivers side tailight, and this is where you attach the white wire with the eyelett on the end. REASSEMBLY - Get yourself some extra wire ties. Attach all of the excess wire to the factory loom. Now, pull the paper off the double-faced tape on the logic box and attach it to the flat surface just to the outside of the drivers side tailight (between the light and the fender). Reassemble all else, making sure that the interior panels fit into the groove in the trunk weatherstripping or the fasteners won't align. They don't tell you this, but the 4-pin trailer connection stays in the trunk when not in use, and the trunk shuts fine with the lead in use.896
