Installation

T-One Connection Location Points

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Honda CR-V's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Honda CR-V's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Honda CR-V operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Honda CR-V

Today on this 2007 Honda CR-V we are going to install part number 118427 from Tow Ready. Alright, the first thing we need to do is get inside the vehicle and remove the interior panels to find the port that we need to plug the wire harness in to. Remove the floor panel until we are down to the spare tire. We also need to remove the threshold so we can pull apart this side panel right here. First we will go ahead and remove the tie-down loops that are on the inside here. We will just go ahead and remove them. We have the driver side done. Now let us do the passenger side. OK to remove the plastic rivets it is a little bit different from most. You actually take the center and push it down. And then it pops right out. You can use your fingers or you can use a special tool to help pop them up. But usually apply pressure and they will release on their own. Pop open this panel. There is a little tab you have to pull out. And then you want to use a trim tool to pop the releases here. There is a plastic rivet here that you have to remove as well. It gives you a little bit extra wiggle room. And then you can pop the panel a little bit more until you can see the interior wiring. 1:08

Now the reason why you have to pull out the panel so much is that the connection point is actually right in this area here. And our port is a white connector wrapped up with light blue tape. You just need to free it from the tap and we can plug our wire harness right into that. OK, we will plug in our wire harness. And then we will take our ground wire with the loop and attach it to the factory ground that is right here. Our ground is hooked up. Take our adhesive back off of our converter and place it on to the interior side of the sheet metal. We will route our 4-pole wire underneath and to the spare tire compartment. We will just leave that alone for now. We will go ahead reinstall the interior panels. Now you will have to take the plastic rivets from the threshold and kind of peel them apart and reset them. Take these two points and kind of pull them apart. And them push them to the top and it resets the rivet. 2:48

Our 4-pole wire will be stored underneath the floor covering until we need it. Now we will go ahead and show you how to use the 4-pole. Basically you pull up the floor cover, pull it out. Make sure you stay away from the center latch. And shut the door on it. The door seal is thick enough and it will not hurt anything when you shut the door. Pull down what you need to go down to your trailer. And we are finished. Alright and there you have it for part number 118427 from Tow Ready.

I just installed the hitch and wiring harness this morning. It went in without too much difficulty. The only change I would make to the installation instructions would be to improve removing and reinstalling the muffler rubber isolator hangers. The outside isolator is straight forward just remove isolator from muffler pin let isolator connected to the frame pin. The inside isolator pin I had to remove from the frame pin first. I could not get it off the muffler pin until the muffler was dropped down then I could remove the isolator hanger from the muffler pin. Note, install the inside muffler isolator hanger back onto the frame pin before bolting the hitch in place. Just not enough room to get the inside isolator back on the frame pin after the hitch is installed. The spacing between the hitch cutout and the frame pin is too close to get the isolator back on the frame pin. See the two photos I have attached below. 66958

After purchasing this hitch and wiring kit for a 2010 Honda CRV I was pleased to receive the follow-up, informing me that the order had been processed and shipped. This vendor's customer service is the best I've had the pleasure to experience for any online purchase ....bar-none! Shipping was followed up and very informative also. It arrived on time and intact via UPS! The online install information and video was right on the money. This had to be the easiest of any hitch and wire kit I have ever installed, and I have probably designed, built, or modified 20-30 hitches in my many years of custom car and motorcycle building, racing, R/V-ing, towing and farming! I look forward to doing business again soon . Thanks!! ......Frank Lyons 70052

I am using this on a 2008 CR-V to run a set of towing lights attached to the back of a large bike rack for added visibility. Installation went exactly as it should have, with no problems at all during the whole process. I didn't even need the included grounding screw because I was able to use an existing ground screw already in the car. I love the fact that no wires need to be spliced; this thing just plugs in! So far, it has been working flawlessly. I thought it was odd that the sides of the plastic box were bulging slightly, but that doesn't seem to have any effect on the operation of the device. I totally recommend this for anyone who needs to use a trailer or auxiliary lighting with their CR-V. 53034

In addition to needing a trailer hitch, I also needed the wiring to safely and legally haul a utility trailer. Honda was smart to have the wiring harness pre-installed at the factory, and the folks at etrailer were smart to carry a product that easily plugs right into this harness. From start to finish, including properly removing and re-installing the cargo panels, it took me about 15 minutes to install this harness. The trailer's lights are operating at full brightness now, which they never did on our old minivan that was "professionally" wired by a local shop. I highly recommend this product if you have a CR-V from the compatible years! 89898

Great product, but the video guidance on etrailer.com could be improved. Showing, instead of just saying, how to remove the center button trim clips might avoid breaking them. Also, a tip... When reinstalling the muffler, the video just says to reconnect the rubber hangers without showing how. We found out the inner rubber piece could be easily reconnected by removing it from the muffler, connecting it to the vehicle hanger hook, then sliding the muffler hook into it. After that, the outer hanger is easy to reconnect. 43035

Complete perfection! I do not typically write reviews but this experience warranted it. I ordered my wiring harness on Monday at noon. By 3pm I had received an email saying the product shipped (I only selected regular i.e. Cheap shipping). the harness arrived at my house on Wednesday! The product was perfect. The video was perfect. Installed exactly as described. I am always weary about shopping online from any sight other than the "big" guys, but this proved that etrailer.com is a proven winner. Outstanding! 24925

Wiring harness was delivered within a few days, and was exactly what was ordered. Installation was fast and easy following the attached step by step directions. From the time I opened the vehicle up to the time i closed it was less than 30 min. Hooked it up to the trailer and everything worked correctly. Made the right choice by buying this product. Sorry I did not take pictures, but it just went together so fast and easy i was done in no time. Thanks etrailer 123174

I ordered the 2008 Honda CRV trailer wiring harness, after conducting some internet research. The entire ordering process, to include arrival was absolutely excellent. To top things off, the installation video, provided on the website, made installation of the harness a breeze. From time of item arrival, to the operational checkout of the trailer lights was less than 1 hour. The best internet shopping experience that I've had. 7762

Perfect in every aspect. Just installed the wiring in my 2009 Honda CRV. Took 25 minutes at a leisurely pace that included testing. Instructions were easy to follow AND accurate (an unfortunately rare luxury these days.) Price, shipping, service, and website were all great. Particularly liked the ability to view instructions and installation videos in advance. Really helped me to decide to do it myself. Glad I did. 50451

Purchased Hidden Hitch Class 3, 2" hitch for my 2007 Honda CRV along with wiring harness and ball mount. Not the handiest person in the world but after installing this hitch, my handy-ego has been inflated. The videos on the website are spot on and are a huge resource for installation. Support during the sale and after were much appreciated. This is one of my top five e-commerce experiences. Well done etrailer.com! 94526

Package showed up on time and complete. I used the Youtube video for the install and it was a breeze. The 2008 Honda CRV comes with a socket already installed at the factory, so I just had to remove 2 interior panels, plug in the wiring harness, screw in the ground wire, stick the module to the inside fender, reinstall all panels and I was done! No drama. I should have this kind of luck with all my projects! 92003

Wiring harness fit like a glove and worked perfectly. This was for my 2009 Honda CRV. Look for my review of the trailer hitch that I installed. This harness was for that vehicle. What a breeze to snap together. This had to be the easiest part of the job. The best part though, when I was all done everything worked (Lights, directionals etc). Thanks again E-Trailer. I love the product and the etrailer.com company behind the product. I had great communication from the day of my order and continuing until the product was delivered. The wiring harness came exactly as described and installed in 15 minutes. The video provided by etrailer.com was extremely helpful. This was my second flawless purchase from etrailer.com and I'm sure there will be more! 34528

My CRV wiring harness arrived on time to the promise date and performed as specified. The online video was helpful and gave me confidence that I would be able to install it myself before purchasing it. It installed pretty easily but some patience was needed for pulling open the plastic panels in the car. I like having the connector stored in the spare tire well. 115295

The product was exactly what was described. I installed it on my 2011 Honda CR-V in less than 1 hr. No issues and no problems. I used it the next day to trailer home a log splitter I rented from Home Depot. Considering what "Professional" installation would have cost me this was a great deal. The installation video was a great help. 149456

Excellent installation videos made this a snap to install. I loved how it was "plug & play" with no cutting or tapping into the wiring. Etrailer support was excellent as they answered my question about compatibility with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness that I also wanted to install. That gave me the green light to make this happen. 109017

Easy to install because of the video instructions, which were tailored to my 2011 Honda CRV. Worked perfectly right away. I like that the connector hides away in the spare tire compartment until I need it for towing. Only criticism is that the self tapping sheet metal screw did not thread properly. I had to supply my own screw. 129429

Plug and Play. Couldn't be easier. I bought a similar style converter once from U-Haul and that one has LEDs to show signal on the output and I think that should be standard, so diagnostics of problems would be easier. This one doesn't have that feature, but it is otherwise functional and easy to install. 30518

Good harness Not bad to install, but instructions could be better as far as how to remove the interior panels. No need to drill a hole for the ground wire; there's a body ground nearby that works fine. Wire tucks neatly inside the spare tire compartment, and fits under the tailgate seal when in use. 726

If I'd watched that install video just before I did it, I would not have broken one of those little plastic rivets... but that is all I broke the first one and not a bad learning curve. All else worked well - I plugged in my hitch cable tester and all the light wiring worked as it should. 57793

great plug and go harness This required disassembly of my left rear trunk area. I also cut the wires to feed them through an access hole near the left side, soldered them back together and taped them up. This was a much cleaner install. This took me about 1 hour to do without rushing 889

The manufacturer has to get the new vehicle into engineering to test fit the hitch so it sometimes takes a while to get to all of the new model vehicles. • Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440 Recommendation for a 2008 Honda CR-V Towing a PWC
  • If your personal watercraft and trailer weighs less than 2,000 lbs and the tongue weight of the trailer weighs less than 200 lbs you could use a Class I hitch. For your 2008 Honda CR-V I would recommend you get a Class III hitch like the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440, as this hitch has higher towing capacities so it could tow your PWC trailer and if you decide to pull a heavier trailer down the road you would be able to that as well. • Installation Instructions for T- Connector Trailer Harness on a Honda CRV
  • The connection point is located behind the interior trim panel in the cargo area on the driver side. The 4-pole trailer connector will be stowed inside the cargo area of the vehicle. You will need to open the rear door of the vehicle and temporarily remove the rear threshold, cargo net and cargo cover to allow access of the rear interior trim panel on the driver side (it may be helpful to fold rear seat forward). Carefully pull back the interior trim panel on driver side. Then locate the...

  • Is Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Installation the Same on a 2009 Honda CR-V as it is on a 2010 CR-V
  • When installing the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440, installation will be the same from 2007 to 2011 Honda CR-V models. So installation on a 2009 will be the same as in the video for the 2010. If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, hitch pin with clip, an interchangeable ball system with 1-7/8 and 2 inch balls, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118427. I have included...

  • Parts Needed to Wire a 2010 Honda CR-V With Diodes for Flat Towing Behind a Motor Home
  • In order to wire a vehicle for lights to be flat towed, you have a couple of options. However, you will not be able to use the vehicles wiring harness as it does not accept input signals. Instead, you can wire the vehicle with diodes. There are 2 ways in which to wire a vehicle that has a 3 wire system like your 2010 Honda CR-V. It can wired to works as a 2 wire system, or it can be wired to run as a 3 wire system. In either case, you will need Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring...

  • After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2011 Honda CR-V Vehicle Running Lights Stopped Working
  • It does sound like it is a fuse but we need to figure out what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. Otherwise this problem will just keep happening. First, to verify that it is a fuse, you can use the owners manual and/or the legend on the power distribution box lid to find the fuse location. Leave the harness unplugged when you change the fuse. If the running lights on the 2011 CR-V start working then we know that there was a short somewhere that caused the fuse to blow. Check...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2011 Honda CR-V with Class I Hitch
  • We do have a couple of trailer hitch mounted cargo carriers that will fit a Class I trailer hitch on your 2011 Honda CR-V. The first thing you are going to want to do is check the owners manual for your CR-V. I believe you will find that it has a gross trailer weight capacity of 1,500 pounds and the tongue weight capacity is probably 150 pounds. This means at most you could carry 150 pounds. The combined weight of the cargo carrier and contents cannot exceed 150 pounds or the tongue...

  • Tow Ready and Curt Wiring Harness Comparison for a 2011 Honda CR-V
  • The Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118427, and the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C55106, are basically the same harness from two different manufacturers. The main difference between these two harnesses is that Curt uses surface-mount technology (SMT) which is newer technology from the older through-hole technology. The Curt harness also has higher amp ratings of 3 amps per circuit for the stop and turn lights and 7.5 amps per circuit for the tail lights. The Tow Ready harness...

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2011 Honda CR-V with Class I Hitch
  • Actually, for a cargo carrier for your 2011 Honda CR-V, I would go with Draw-Tite carrier, # 6500, because it will fit a Class I or Class II trailer hitch and it is adjustable to be closer or further away from the vehicle depending on how much clearance is needed. I have included a link to a video review of this carrier for you. You can also add a light kit to this carrier using # 6504. To use the light kit the vehicle will have to have trailer wiring installed using # 118427. Most...

  • What Is Needed To Install The Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness # 118427 On A 2010 Honda CR-V
  • The Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118427, will plug into the white trailer tow plug on your 2010 Honda CR-V, located behind the drivers side rear interior trim panel. You will also need to attach the white ground wire on the wiring harness to the vehicles existing ground stud or another suitable grounding point. You will not have to do anything with the fuses under the hood of your 2010 Honda CR-V. That will be all that is needed to install the Tow Ready wiring harness to your...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Light Malfunctions on a 2009 Honda CR-V
  • From what I understand, at first, none of the lights worked. Now, with a trailer connected and the running lights on, you get a hot signal with every connection. First, you will have to disconnect the trailer to do some testing. Start by using a circuit tester to test the wires going in to the converter. Test each function separately. Turn signals, tail lights and stop lights. If these are all correct, move on to the wires coming out of the converter. Test each function again for these...

  • Where is the Trailer Harness Connector Located on a 2007 Honda CRV in Guatemala
  • It is possible that a Honda CRV sold in Guatemala will have different wiring, but I am not familiar with vehicles sold outside of the U.S. and Canada. What I can do is tell you where the connector should be located, whether or not it is there could be dependent on where the vehicle was sold. The connector is behind the access panel on the left side of the vehicle. I have included a link to a video of an installation of this part in a 2008 CRV so you can see how he did it.

  • Can TrailerMate # TM783106 and Tow Ready # 118427 Be Installed on Same Vehicle
  • You can indeed install the # TM783106 for lighting when flat towing and the # 118427 for towing a trailer. Since both will not be used at the same time, both will work just fine with no interference. I have linked you to an install video showing the # 118427 being installed on a 2011 CR-V, as well as to some FAQ articles about flat towing that you might find helpful.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Taillights that Don't Function Correctly When Headlights are On
  • It sounds like the problem is in the ground circuit. Any time we have seen taillight circuits stop working when headlights get turned on we know the problem is the ground circuit. Since your ground wire got ripped off at one point I would make sure it is reconnected well. And you should make sure your taillight assemblies are grounded well to a clean metal surface. Some assemblies ground through the mounting hardware so you would want to make sure they are installed onto a clean metal...

  • Trailer Hitch, Bike Rack, and Wiring Recommendation for 2010 Honda CR-V
  • I recommend the Class III Hidden Hitch, # 87440, for your 2010 Honda CR-V. A Class III hitch provides more versatility with its 2 inch receiver opening. This hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 525 pounds. Just a reminder, you will want to follow the weight limitations of the component with the lowest rating. This would include the towing capacity of your Honda or any accessory that you mount in the hitch. If you are interested in...
