Today on our 2003 Cadillac Escalade, well be installing the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 7 and 4 Pole, part number HM40975. This will be in conjunction with the Draw-Tite No Drill Mounting Bracket, part number 18136. First lets go ahead and identify the manufactures wiring that well be using. As you can see, its bundled up here behind the bumper against the frame. Well go ahead and untie it and run it down to the hitch. Now for this application we want the wire to go over the hitch, so Im going to go ahead and loosen up the hitch enough to get the wire connector over the top of the hitch and between the bumper.
After weve re-secured the hitch to manufacturers specifications, we can go ahead and install the universal mounting bracket using the cable clamp provided. Now with that in place were ready to go ahead and install the bracket and connector. Well be installing the bracket using the self-tapping screws provided with our install kit. Now with the bracket mounted, well feed the wiring harness through the bracket and connect it into the back of the 7 and 4 pole connector. Now with the connection made well pull on it just to make sure that we have it locked into position and then well lock the connector into the bracket.
With that our install is complete. There you have it for the install of the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 7 and 4 Pole, part number HM40975 in conjunction with the Draw-Tite No Drill Mounting Bracket, part number 18136 on our 2003 Cadillac Escalade. .

I broke the factory plug and dust cover on my 2004 Silverado, when I backed it into a trailer tongue. So I thought I would replace it with a plug with both 4 way and 7 way receptacles. This was a perfect fit to the factory connector. I just used an angle grinder to remove the bent factory mounting bracket, and installed this bracket about the same place. Total time 15 minutes, including cutting off the factory bracket.13635

Once you have one of these you will never settle for having a pigtail hanging off the back of your truck again. I bought this for my 2006 Silverado, along with the Curt round bar hitch. Build quality is great and installation was simple. The factory plug plugged into it at a nice angle and it worked great with my 4-pin trailer. My only advice is to be prepared for how hard the bumper is. It takes a lot of force to get the self tapping screws to bite. I ended up drilling a small starter hole and that made it much easier, but it still took a lot of force. 65453

I noticed that you had a video on installing this product on a 2004 Silverado, and a 2006 Silverado. So I'm thinking that should be easy on my 2005. NOT SO! You have to install the bracket on the part of the bumper where there is space. But in doing so, the large piece of round channel causes a big problem. So, what you do is drill holes, then put plug into the connecting wiring harness. Then you have to run the self tapping screws into the bracket while holding the bracket in your hand with wiring attached. Once they are started into the bumper, you will need to use and 1/2 inch wrench because of the clearance issue to get them tight on the driver side of the bracket. Socket will work on the other side. And I thought it would be simple. But it did work57400

Because of my particular placement of the plug mounting bracket, I had to spot weld the bracket to my hitch. Once I did that, I let it cool a bit, that simply snapped my connector in, plugged my chevy 2500 hd wiring harness in the back and now I do not have to mess with plug adapters for my flat wired trailers. Very, very, easy installation. Additionally, this new plug solved a bunch of issures with blinking trailer lights or lights that were not working at all. This is a plug-in replacement for my 2010 Ford F-150 with factory installed trailer package. I had this exact same connector but someone unclipped it and stole it. Ford Parts wanted over $100 for a replacemnt (they included the entire rear bumper harness that I did not need). I had the cutout on the hitch that exactly matched this bracket and the blue socket that you see in the optional pigtail available for this product (see attached photo). I snapped this dual connector into my existing cutout - fit perfectly. Did not need to use the included bracket. So if your factory connector is damaged or stolen, use this as a snap-in replacement. The only difference is it says "Pollack" instead of "Ford". I called Hopkins before I bought and they said they supplied a lot of the OE parts Ford uses.55449

I loved the plug-n-play design to take advantage of GM's provided pigtail, but don't understand why the connector is a 4-pin flat instead of a 5-pin flat which would give you 3 different hook-ups for very little additional production cost. The 5-pin flat is common on boat trailers with tongue brakes. The 5-pin connection would make this product excellent.54440

This was a great addition to the hitch I bought for my 2011 Grand Cherokee. I was able to plug it right into the factory harness for a perfect fit. The only issue you may have is the trailer lights won't work until you get the computer flashed from the dealer to tell the Jeep it has a towing harness attached now.54337
I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that came without the tow package, but which still had the 7-way connector at the rear. This trailer connector socket attached easily to my hidden hitch, and connecting it to the Jeeps 7-way was a snap. If your trailer signals and brake lights do not work after installing this socket on the 2012 WK, youll probably have to take it to the dealer for a body control module re-flash, and itll cost you around $100.

When looking for a factory-looking solution to replace the original 7-pin connector on my 2003 F250, I ran across this product. This is exactly what I was looking for. Trailer plug unit (Pollack 7 & 4 pole for my F-250 was broken by the car wash. Called the dealer and they wanted double what e-trailer sales it for plus I had to special order and that took too long to ship as I needed it immediately. I went online and found E-Trailer.com and they had the exact replacement device that was identical to what the manufacturer had installed. I ordered it and asked to have it within a set timeframe and e-trailer did exactly what they said they would do! The lady I spoke with Cathy was on the stick with the entire order and follow-up. The E-trailer staff then followed up the very next day of delivery. I have just installed the plug this morning so it has to be tested but do not forsee any issues as it is the exact replacement which worked great before. I am very impressed with the service here and will most definitely buy from them again as well as refer my freinds and business associates. I really like this product. I like that the 7 blade and the 4pin plugs are internally wired. It is truley a 'plug-n-play' unit and even has corrosion preventitive in the pins. The reason I did not give this kit an 'excellent' rating is the mount bracket is too short. This required that a use a 1 inch spacer and longer bolt to attach the mount so the trailer plug could be inserted. 31977

This is a very handy way to connect your trailer to your truck just mount the bracket plug in your factory connector snap into place and your ready for the highway no adapter needed. And it is reasonably priced what more could you want? 19156

This is a great idea. I want to be able to use either type of plug--this does that. But I'll have a big hassle mating up the other side. I'm looking for a connector or else I'll have to solder and carefully shrink wrap all the connectors. it would be great if a pig tail was provided. It is designed for OEM applications for Ford Dodge and GM. I am putting it on a Volvo 240 Wagon. Most of the time I pull very small boat trailers. I have one bigger trailer that is 1900 lbs and wired with a 7 prong connector so I can use utility lights and trailer backup lights. This is a very nice quality connector. I just think it is STUPID not to sell it with a wiring pigtail.18334
