Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 4 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Ford Ranger's wiring harness, which is located beneath your vehicle, along the driver's-side frame rail.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your Ford Ranger, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Ford Ranger's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Ford Ranger operate.

Video Transcript for Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118325 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pull flat trailer connector. This product fits a 1994 to 2008 Mazda B Series Pickup, as well as a 1993 to 1999 Ford Ranger. It's going to provide your four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle. It's going to power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5 pull, 6 pull, and 7 pull adapters. The adapters are sold separately, and it's going to come with a dust cap for the for way flat connector. That way you can cover up the connection points when your plug's not being used.

The black box is going to be the included taillight converter, this is going to insure that you . Excuse me. That your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The unit's designed to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate the connection point, along the frame rail, and plug in your T connector.

The ports on the connector are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle, and they're going to snap lock together for a nice tight secure fit. Once you have that plugged in, you'll need to mount your converter box to a nice clean alloy wheel location. It's going to come with some double sided adhesive tape on it, that way you can easily get that mounted. Some other options includes includes a mount hole right here, so that way you can use one of the included screws to get it mounted that way, or it includes one large zip tie, that way you can get it mounted with a zip tie. Multiple options to get that converter box mounted, but you want to get that mounted to a nice clean out of the way location. Then you can secure your excess wires if you have any slack in your wiring. You can use that zip tie or you can provide your own.

Once your installation's complete, the four way connector's going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch, you can loop it around the safety chain loop, or you can purchase a mounting bracket. Mounting bracket is sold separately, but it is recommended to help keep the connector secure. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pull connector itself. That grease is going to help prevent corrosion, so if you need some of that, you can find it here as well. It's going to be sold separately also. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit, and for the taillights we're looking at 4 amps per circuit.

It's going to come with your detailed installation instructions, those are going to walk you through the whole process step by step. That's going to do it for today's look at the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pull flat trailer connector.

I installed this on a 1996 Ranger. I removed the rearmost bumper mounting bolt on each side and then loosened the other two. This allowed the bumper to drop down far enough to easily access the wiring. At that point you unplug the factor harness and plug in the trailer wiring. I drilled one hole behind the license plate to hold the wiring harness in place and the installation was complete. 132588

Couldn't be happier with the wiring harness. It plugged directly into the wiring harness on the truck and had enough length to route it along the frame and secure it with wire ties in several places. The converter came with self-stick adhesive which made mounting a breeze, although I also secured it with a small bolt through the mounting hole on the converter. During the installation, I used 1/2 inch plastic ribbed wire conduit to protect the wiring harness from chaffing, although it is not necessary. I installed it on a 1999 Ford Ranger, which has separate turn signal lamps from the tail/brake lamps. If you have a similar vehicle, I highly recommend this product. Also shipping was extremely fast. 196632

Works, but even with the protective cap on the plug recepical I get corrosion inside the connector

Dan M - 05/11/2014

The cap is good for keeping debris out, but it's far from a water tight seal. Best thing to do at this point would be to clean the contacts with electrical de-greaser or cleaner that you can find at an auto parts store. With the contacts clean, apply a healthy glob of di-electric grease like part # 11755
Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz.
$9.99
. You can do the same on the trailer side connector. The grease will slow corrosion quite a bit by keeping those contacts coated.

I ordered a trailer wiring harness for my Ford Ranger. It arrived several days earlier than scheduled, which is always appreciated! Installation was very easy, took only about 10 minutes. It plugged right into the factory wiring harness. A quick check with the voltmeter to verify everything works, which it does, and I'm ready to tow! Thanks e-trailer! 143271

Good quality product! No cutting/splicing required, just pull apart the OEM connector, then plug in the T-One. Use the tie wrap or double back tape to secure the converter. Actually took all of two minutes for total install on a 1993 Ford Ranger 4X4. As always, several choices for delivery, great customer service, and their email follow-up. 226061

I'll tell ya what, this made wiring for my trailer a no-brainer. I found the connection on the rear underside of my truck, separated, and inserted the wiring harness, and i was off and running! (just had to make sure everything was secure). thanks guys, custom harness makes this easy for someone who is not so truck or wire savvy. 65231

This wiring harness saved me both time and money. I f you use a generic harness you will risk poor conections & corroded wires. This solves both with a plug & play type conection, plus eliminates that pesky choice between tail lights or turn signals caused by the independant turn signals on a 1993-2000 ranger. 26690

Received the T-One Vehicle harness with four pole trailer connector for my 1997 Mazda B Series pickup. Very easy to install as you just unplug the quick disconnect connector and install the T-One between the connectors and re-connect. A couple of zip ties and you are done. Less than 15 minutes. Works great!! 52937

Bought the T-One connector and the 4 pole to 7 pole connector. Regular Shipping service was ok, alittle slow, but not etrailer.com's fault. Installed them in about 5 minutes and they work perfect together. Going hunting in a week with my "new" used pop up trailer, lights and everything work great! 31629

Easy "Snap" installation. Recommend if installing a trailer hitch along with the trailer wiring install the wiring first. It's much easier to install the wiring before the trailer hitch as the hitch makes it a little more difficult to get to the wiring.harness after its installed. 45507

Easiest way to wire a trailer. Don't be cheap and try to do it yourself with splicing kits. This takes 60 SECONDS to install and it works perfectly on the first try. No cutting or taping. It just plugs right into your vehicle's existing plugs. How simple is that? 70380

Plugged it into the existing harness, and it worked perfect. The only suggestion would be to add a second attachment ear on the conversion box for the self drilling screws. One is minimally adequate, a second would hold much more secure. 86604

  • How to Wire a Towed Vehicle With Seperate Turn and Brake Cicuits on Towing Vehicle
  • If the vehicle you are towing with has separate stop and turn signals then it will need to be wired with a Modulite converter so that it can run the lights on the vehicle you are towing that does not have separate turn signals and stop lights. If the vehicle you are towing with is already setup to tow a trailer then the Modulite converter is most likely already installed. If you are towing with the 1994 Ford Ranger mentioned above then you will need to wire it with a 4-way connector...

The only solution in this case is to replace the wiring harness and then making sure the wiring on any trailer you may be towing is correct.

  • Adding a Brake Controller to a 1996 Ford Ranger
  • First, if your 1996 Ford Ranger came with a factory 4-Way trailer connector or you installed an aftermarket 4-Way, you will need to add an # ETBC7, if the trailer has a 7-Way blade style connector, or an # ETBC6, if the trailer has 6 pole connector. If you need to add a 4-Way, you would use # 118325. If you add a trailer connector or it already has one, the signals for the tail lights on the trailer are already converted down to the correct signals. In order to operate the electric brakes...

  • Installing T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness On 1993 Ford Ranger
  • On the driver side frame rail you should be able to find the connection point that you install the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118325 to. Per the instructions you will need to use caution when separating the connector to avoid damaging the locking tabs on the connector. If you can gently pry the locking tabs up, you should be able to separate the connector with out much of a problem. You then install the T-connector to complete the installation.

  • Trailer Hitch to Fit with Full Size Spare Tire on a 1995 Ford Ranger
  • Customers have found that Curt trailer hitch # 13019 fits without having to remove the spare tire. More customers actually commented on this for hitch # 13138 with several of the reviews stating that that the hitch fits with the spare without any problems. Based on the customer information I would go with # 13138 for your 1995 Ford Ranger. I have linked a video showing installation for you. I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It includes 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 70181 on a 1999 Ford Ranger
  • Yes, the Hidden Hitch Class III Trailer Hitch, # 70181, will install on your 1999 Ford Ranger assuming all of the factory bolt holes were pre-drilled into your vehicles frame rails. All of the bolt holes for this hitch are pre-drilled during assembly, so the holes should be present. It is not common for a hole to be missing. If you want to verify that you will not have to do any drilling, then I would recommend checking your frame rails for the necessary holes. I have attached an installation...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 1998 Ford Ranger
  • For a trailer hitch for your 1998 Ford Ranger you would want the Curt Hitch part # 13138 as it is a Class III hitch confirmed to fit your vehicle that is the most popular with our customers. This is a round tube hitch with plenty of capacity that would work well for you. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop...

  • Trailer Lights Not Working with Wiring Harness Installed on a 1995 Ford Ranger
  • To determine definitively if the converter is bad use a circuit tester like # 3808 to test the wires going into the converter box. If the signals are correct going in, test the 4-Way end. If they are not correct coming out of the box then the converter is bad and it will need to be replaced. You will not be able to just eliminate the box. The issue is that the vehicle has what is called a separate 3-wire system meaning that all the functions are on separate circuits (brake lights, turn...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2010 Dodge Dakota Behind a Motor Home and Problems with Tow Vehicle Wiring
  • First, if your 2010 Dodge Dakota is a 2-wheel drive model then Dodge says that it cannot be flat towed. If you have a 4-wheel drive model then it can be flat towed but you will need to follow the specific procedures outlined in the owners manual starting on page 326. If the motor home was built on a full-size Ford van chassis or at least uses the same tail lights then I recommend going to a T-connector style harness that just plugs in line with the vehicle tail lights, # 118343. • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation and Functions for a 1993 Ford Ranger
  • On a vehicle that has turn signals that are separate from the brake lights, a converter, # 118325 in this case, is required. The converter takes the separate signals on the vehicle and combines them to turn/brake lights on the same circuit which is what trailers use. Your trailer has what is called a wishbone harness. Normally, yellow is the driver side and green is the passenger side. When there is 2 brown wires this means that the running light signal is split at the connector so you...

  • Mounting Hole Dimensions for the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch on a 1998 Ford Ranger
  • I went out to the warehouse to measure the hitch for you. The distance between the holes on center from front to back is 5-3/4 inches and the side to side measurement is 31 inches on center for both the most forward and most rearward bolt holes. Some items you may want to consider to complete your towing setup are listed below. Wiring # 118325 Drawbar # 2923 Hitch Ball # 19260 or # 19247 Hitch Lock # 7683

  • Why Would a Trailer Wiring Harness Not Have Power at the Connector
  • If you have a # 118325 installed on your Ford Ranger and it does not have power ran to it then your truck's taillights would also not be working. That would typically indicate a blown fuse under the hood of the truck. If you have a different style of trailer wiring harness most likely you have a blown trailer wiring fuse. I attached a help article on troubleshooting trailer wiring harnesses for you to check out as well.

  • Repairing T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118325 for 1999 Ford Ranger
  • I would first start by testing the wires on the T-connector with a circuit tester like the Quickee, # 3808, to make sure that each is functioning as it should. If there is an issue with any of the wires, you will need to replace the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118325. • Troubleshooting a Shorted Out T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118325 on a 1996 Ford Ranger
  • It sounds like the # 118325 might be bad since you checked the voltage before the unit and there was power but after there is not. However, since this is the second one of these you have gone through it sounds like you might have a short somewhere on the trailer that is causing the # 118325 to short out and quit working. I would recommend you go over your trailer wiring and check for any bad grounds, loose wires or corrosion and fix as necessary. I attached installation instructions...
