Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Chrysler Town and Country with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your Chrysler Town and Country's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your Chrysler Town and Country, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Speaker: Today on this 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, were going to install part number C56150 from Curt. First step is go ahead and open the back hatch because we have to remove the taillight. To remove our taillight, there are two bolts that we have to remove. Well use a 10mm socket to do that. Now, well go ahead and work our taillight loose. Sometimes, you can pull back on the top and bottom and work it out.
If not, get somewhere where theres a wide edge to work back here and pop it loose. Now, to disconnect your wire harness, theres a small red lock to slide back. Then we can push down on the tab to remove it. Were done with our drivers side now. Well go ahead and repeat on the passenger side. Now weve got our vehicle ready to install our wire harness.
Well take the four-pole in of our wire harness and drop it down in-between the body work and the bumper cover. Now, well take T-connecter with the green wire and do the same thing. Well let that set for now. Then well work with our black wire here for the module. Well go ahead and add a longer piece of wire to this wire that comes with the kit.
Well go ahead and run it down as well. Take the butt connecter that comes with the kit and attach it to our long piece of wire. The other end will go to the short piece going to our module. Well add some electrical tape to help protect it. Lets take the other piece of our long wire. Well go ahead and run it down as well.
To keep our whole assembly from going down any more than it needs to, well take our T-connecter with yellow wire and plug it into the factory wiring harness. Push it together until it clicks. Well let that sit aside for now. Then well go underneath the vehicle. Weve got our four-pole wire. Weve got our T-connecter for our green wire. There it is. Theres our black wire. Now lets go ahead and take our four-pole harness, and well go ahead and route it behind a bumper support and over to our hitch. Lets go ahead and route it to our hitch. Just route it and thats it. Well take care of our access later. Well go ahead and put our four-pole cover into place. Well use that to help hold it to our hitch while we do our work. Now well take our T-connecter with the green wire, and well go ahead and run it all the way across. Well take our T-connecter and run it behind the body work in our sheet metal. With the T-connecter routed up in place, well go ahead and plug into our factory wire harness. Then, we can also go ahead and reinstall our taillight on this side. Well go ahead and plug this into the back side or our taillight. Well go ahead and take a new wire harness, plug it back into the taillight until it clicks. Then you want to take that red lock and push it back into place. At this point, we can also reinstall our taillight for our drivers side. Now we can go ahead and start bundling our wires. Maybe a good idea is tuck it up behind there and take up the tension. Well also work a zip-tie around this part here to hold the wire up away from our exhaust. Now to help hold the wire, were going to drill some holes in these supports here so we can run some zip-ties through it and hold our wire. A quarter-inch size hole will be more than enough. Now well go ahead and use some zip-ties that come with the kit to secure our wire. Now chances are, youre going to use more than what comes with the kit, so its a good idea to go get yourself some extras. Next well go ahead and work with our module here. Were actually going to attach it to the inside edge of the bumper cover. Well go ahead and clean off an area first, and then use an adhesive that comes with it to attach it. Honestly, the warmer the temperature it is, the better this will stick. Well attach it to our module first. Peel off the backing, and flip it around and attach it to the bumper cover. Now well work with our ground. This is a white wire at the ring terminal. Well go ahead and cut off the tails of our zip-ties. Then well continue on working on with our black wire, and eventually well go up towards our battery. Im trying to stay away from the suspension as much as possible. Then well route our wire up and over the engine. Grab another handful of zip-ties, and well go ahead and start securing our wire, working our way from the back to the front. Well go ahead and zip-tie our wire to anything thats handy. Inaudible 00:05:57 for now. Well go ahead and cut off the tails of our zip-ties. Now to run a wire up from the bottom to the top, well use this old piece of airline tubing. This could be a fish wire or just another heavy piece of wire to help pull it up as well. As you pull your wire out, you want to double-check the route of the wire. Make sure it doesnt get caught up in the parts, suspension or any steering components. Lets go ahead and pull it up. Well go ahead and zip-tie our wire here. Well go ahead and take a wire, and route it around the fuse box. Then well go ahead and cut it to length. Now well go ahead and get our black wire ready to install a fuse holder. Well go ahead and strip back the wire, then install a butt connector. Our fuse holder already comes with the wires basically stripped. Take one end and attach it to your black wire. The other end, well get the ring terminal. Then well go ahead and protect our butt connector with some electric tape. Well go ahead hold a lid for our fuse panel. Then well attach directly to it. For this part, we can go ahead and put the lid back down, and well put our fuse in our fuse holder. Then, you use one more zip-tie to hold our fuse holder. With that, our install is finished. Now it will be a good idea to go ahead and test it out on a light tester before you try it on a trailer. To test it, well go ahead and take our light tester and ground to our white wire, and well test our brown wire for a running light circuit. Then our yellow for a left turn signal. Green will be our right-turn signal. Then to check of for our brake signal will be a constant signal on our yellow and green wires. It looks like everything works. Now would be a good time to try it on a trailer. Another thing well do is go ahead and put a little piece of loom material. The loom material that were using is part number 459075-1. With that, that will finish it for our install. Part number C56150 from Curt on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. .

I purchased this Curt wiring harness (made in USA) over the other cheaper option, and it was a good decision. The installation went reasonably well and most importantly when I got all done it worked. You really need to plan where all the wires are going to be routed before you start. The flat connector and the black power wire I routed inside the car, and the right light taillight under the frame. I put the flat connector inside the compartment where the jack is stored and when I need it I just pull it out. Hints: Review the online video before you start, it gives you a good overview of what to expect. Make sure you install the control box as low as possible in the light well otherwise you will not have enough green wire to run to the other light. Use black tape on all the connectors to make sure they do not come apart. Running the wire inside the vehicle was pretty easy. I fished the wire under all the inside trim panels and went through the firewall in the same place the hood release cable did. It was a lot cleaner and I did not have to deal with where to attach the wire under the car. Areas that could be better: The installation instructions are pretty basic, and could use some help. Make sure you stare at the wiring diagram before you start the install. The green wire that goes to the right side light needs to be at least a foot longer. You have to be real creative in routing the wire to get it to fit. I had to re-run the wire several times to get it to fit. The double stick tape to attach the control box to the light compartment does not work well. The area you need to put the box in is not flat thus making the tape unusable. I ended up putting two strips of duct tape on it to hold it in place 38115
Everything was going as I expected until I ran the wire to the R/S tail light. The wire is too short, I had to add a short extension to the green wire so that it would reach the R/S connecter. This T-Connector does fit my 2014 Chrysler T&C.110004

It took me well over 3 hrs to install. 1. The green wire is about 2" too short. I cut and spliced in 4" and added plastic protective looms. If you do not do this the tight wire will cut and short on the sharp metal through which is the only possible path. (HOW MUCH MONEY did they save by making this wire 2" short?? Screwing with this took most of my installation time...trying diff paths, splicing etc. etc.) 2. The adhesive strip is a joke ..held only for about 10 minutes. I got desperate and used Liquid Nails...doesn't move ..yet. 3.ran black power wire through where the jack is kept then tucked it between the carpet and rocker panel step and out aside the hood release grommet. I have not yet hitched up a trailer to test. 83160

I installed the wiring harness with no problems except one. I had read in other reviews that the wire to the passenger side T-connector was too short to reach the taillight assembly but had assumed that it was the result of installer error. However, I also found it to be about one foot short which required me to splice in a piece of wire. Curt - Please lengthen this wire!123687

I ordered The products and 4 days later they arrived. The hitch was a custom fit and fit like a glove. The wiring took more time as I am fussy. I did have to lengthen the green wire going to the PS Rear and I ran the wires through loom. E-Trailer is the best as they have videos to show you how they done it and how it fit without you being the guinea-pig. They are a class act 116854

Having read other reviews I knew the green wire was going to be short(you would think that after so many years and so many complaints about this that the mfg would add 12" more to make it easy.)Because of this, I started installing the green wire first and then the drivers side-everything came together perfect by doing it like that. I also used split flex tubing on the wires going behind the hitch-took a little longer but well worth it. Overall very satisfied-the videos made it so much easier-Thanks108659

This produce packaging lists what vans it will work on and a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan is not listed. The green wire going to the passenger side tail light is about 6 inches short as the connector on these tail lights "2013 Dodge Grand Caravan" points up and not down as shown on instruction PDF file.102655
I found this wiring kit easy to install as it took only a few hours--routing the wires took the most time--and it works perfectly. So no complaints here and really like the fact did not have to splice the original factory wiring.97995

Very please with the kit and ease of installation. I have added a wiring harness to four vans over 30 years, and this was the easiest. Even with having to run a wire to the battery. I did have to add 6" to the green wire, but wonder if undercoating lengthened the path. There appeared to be a slit that I could have slid the wire into as a shorter path, but it was clogged - and adding wire seemed to be easier. The online video was key - the packaged instructions are minimal if you have never installed a wiring kit. * The nut on my battery terminal is about an M6-1.00, not the larger nut listed in the video. I found a usable nut in my loose hardware drawer, so I don't have the exact size.97802

Installation was straight forward and took me about an hour. I routed the passenger side tail light wiring before securing the module in the drivers side tail light space. The green wire was long enough as I made sure it was on top of the bumper ledge and trailer hitch brackets after reading the other reviews. It is very easy to route it so it will be to short. I purchased 20 ft of small wire loom for the power cord and secured it with wire ties under the car. It was pretty easy but there were not enough wire ties in the kit. I used about 15 wire ties for a very neat installation of the power cable. I also cut a slit in the rubber grommet in the drivers side tail light well and ran the trailer hook up wire into the car jack compartment. This made the wire a little short but I was able to purchase an extension. For me it is much better to have the trailer wire inside of the mini van rather than trying to find a spot to secure it underneath the van when not in use. Every thing works no problems.90973

I was stalling on this installation, I thought all my good fortune had been used when the receiver installed so easily. The wiring was a breeze, I installed the passenger side harness before mounting the adapter box and had just enough wire to make it fit. Running the +12V supply went smoothly. I cheated though, I ran a 12Ga wire back to a small water tight fuse distribution block. One fuse is feeding the adapter box and the other is for my 7 pin trailer connector. 90784

With the video it was a pretty straightforward installation. Like some others I felt the green wire was too short. Rather than spend time to find the perfect routing, I just spliced in an extra foot of wire and everything fit. The most time consuming part was running the power wire to the battery. Again the video helped in that, but if you don't have a lift you will have to spend some time on you back getting it all done. I had some zip ties with mounting holes in them and I used them on the wires coming out of the control box, so that even if the self adhesive tape doesn't work the box is held in place by wire ties. I probably spent 2 hours on the wiring installation.88285

Hitch was nice, had to remove 2 exhaust hangers to gain access to bolts on passenger side. Rubs bumper cover at bottom, but mounts solid so hopefully no damage. Wiring harness from Curt was tight to get from drivers taillight to passenger side underneath, not much room to maneuver taillight into place. About 2 1/2-3hrs to install hitch and wire everything up and test working by myself. Use 6 inch extension on ratchet and it will give you much more room to tighten down bolts for the hitch, especially with the torque wrench.81210
