Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Chrysler PT Cruiser with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Chrysler PT Cruiser's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your Chrysler PT Cruiser, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Chrysler PT Cruiser's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Chrysler PT Cruiser operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your Chrysler PT Cruiser's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Today on a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, we're going to install product number 118462 from Tow Ready. First thing we need to do is go ahead and remove the tail lights. We're going to remove the wire harness from the tail light we're pushing on the sides of these little tabs right here. Sometimes its easier to push it with a screwdriver. We're going to start off by running a 4-pole wire and our T-connector half with a yellow wire down to the bottom of the tail light and out at the bottom of the bumper. Next, we'll go ahead and remove, attach our ground wire to the body which connects this to a sheet metal around the side here which we'll attach to that.
Now, we'll go ahead and hook up our T-connect wires to our factory harness. Now, the connector of the two wires is going to be a turn signal circuit so that will go to our green wire half of the T-connector. So we'll plug those together and then our T-connector, the red wire, will connect to the other socket. So these two ends will plug into the tail light. We'll leave that alone for now and run our 4-pole wire over to the center of the hitch and our yellow wire will run over to the other tail light.
Now, we have to find a spot for our module and we're going to clean up a piece of sheet of metal right here and let's go ahead and attach it. We'll continue off with our yellow wire and run that up to our tail light and that will go to the connector with just the two wires. Next we'll go ahead and deal with the power wire going up to the battery. We'll get the black wire that became a kit to the red wire that comes up the module. We'll use a supplied block connector to do that.
We'll take our black wire and run up to the battery to make sure we stay away from anything moving like the suspension components or anything hot like the exhaust. Same thing applies when we run up to the engine component. Now, to get access to the battery we have to loosen up the lid to the air filter. We'll pull up our wire from below which you'll take up all the slack, then we'll cut it to length and then add a fuse holder. Ok, in our wire, we use a block connector and then we cut our fuse holder wire into half and add that to our block connector.
In the other side, we'll get the ring terminal so we'll add that to the positive side of our battery on the terminal here. We'll go ahead and add a fuse to the fuse holder and just stuck it out of the way and we're done. Then we go ahead and put the cover back onto the intake and we are set to go. The last thing we need to do is to go ahead and reinstall the tail lights in the back. With that, that will finish it for installing product number 118462 from Tow Ready.

This is the second time that I have ordered this wiring harness (118462) for our 2006 GT PT Cruiser Convertible, The first harness only lasted about 4 years, I'm hoping that the second harness will last a bit longer. Only time will tell. The harness is very easy to install, it uses OEM style plugs that just plug into the existing taillight wiring plugs. The hardest part of installing the wiring harness (If you can call running a power wire from the taillight wiring harness to the battery, hard) Which I didn't have to do this time because I already had the power wire running to the battery. I installed the second Taillight wiring harness today and it works fine. It took me a little longer than the first one, as I had to remove the old taillight wiring harness before installing the New taillight wiring harness. 133845
I am not overly impressed with this unit. The design of the unit required running a separate B+ wire from the battery to the converter in the rear of the vehicle. This is the first converter I have ever used that required this. While this may be ideal to draw as little current as possible from vehicle's stock lighting circuit, I would have preferred to not have to run a "hot" wire from the front to the back as this kit required and just replaced the flasher with a heavy-duty type. Etrailer's customer service is top-notch, and they updated me along the way with the information on the order status. I will certainly be using Etrailer in the future for my towing equipment needs. 7983

The Instructions were not clear and did not mention what to do with a third of the wiring harness. When it was finally installed in the only way it fit on the vehicle, only the turn signals worked. I had to pay a mechanic $100 to fix the problem. He said there were some bad connections in the white wired portion of the harness. Will avoid this manufacturer with future purchases. 76305

This was a replacement item. Installation was easy. Some of the wires could have been a little longer. They did not hamper installation, but I did have to add wire to the wire that went to the battery to make it long enough. Also had to mount the box portion on the body of the car instead of the side of the trailer hitch where the previous one was mounted. 42935

I had no idea how to wire vehicle with a trailer connecter wiring harness and it was still simple. Installation took about 45 minutes but most of my time was spent tucking and securing the wires neatly. Everything worked just fine. Just like the video. I didn't have the car on a hoist so running the wire from the battery took the most time. Had to splice a few inches onto the yellow wire going to the driver's side to get there but not an issue. A good product and does what it says it does. 87877

Wiring harness works perfectly. Installaion took a couple hours. One problem. The wire going from the module to the other side of the vehicle NEEDS to be longer. I routed it every way possible and was never happy. It does fit, just would be SO much easier if only at least 6" longer 34953
Sucks having to run a power wire from the battery to the rear of the car. The lead to the passenger side of the car IS short as other reviewers have stated. I had to make it a little longer to to make it to the passenger side harness. But other then that, so far so good... 53389

Like others have said, left side yellow wire needed to be 2" longer, but fit after reinstalling left light. (Just don't zip tie the wire BEFORE reinstalling left light.) Plenty of power wire to make it to battery. Clean install. 39977
