Video Transcript for Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring PK11916 Review

Today were going to review part number PK11916. This is the twist-in seven pole RV style trailer connector for Chevy and GMC vehicles. This socket is designed to fit into a pre-existing cutout on your GM truck models 2007 and newer. This twist-in connector also serves as a replacement for OEM sockets on GM trucks 99 and newer that came with the factory tow packages. Basically, the way this would insert is on your truck on the bumper usually, there is a cap thats in the hole that this would go into. If you just take that cap, twist it and pull it out, then the hole would be exposed.

You would take this and these tabs right here, you would just line it up, put it in, twist it into position. That would lock this onto your rear bumper. This socket is made of a high-impact nylon construction which will resist corrosion, has a spring loaded lid as you can see here with a stainless steel pin, and has a runner gasket on the inside. That lid will help prevent intrusion of moisture when closed. If you do get any moisture on the inside, at the very bottom here, there is a drain slot which is angle designed for drainage.

So, basically, when this is installed on the bumper, this will actually angle towards the cap here which if any moisture does get inside it will go down that drain slot and drain out. This part does include the wiring diagram for quick installation, does have the copper-plated terminal pins you can see here which will give you high conductivity and low resistance, and at the very back you might be able to see its sealed with a silicone at the back of the socket and this will prevent moisture from contacting your mating connector. So, basically, when you install this you remove that cap off your bumper, put this in, lock it into place, take your harness that is on your truck and plug it into the back here. You have a working seven way on your truck. The application again is all Chevrolet and GMC trucks 2007 and newer and it will serve as an exact replacement for 99 to current Chevy and GMC trucks with the factory tow packages.

The current rating on this is 30 amps. The volt rating is 12 volts and it does come with a one year limited warranty. And, that should do it for review on part number PK11916. .

This little marvel was a piece o' cake to install. Less than 10 minutes from taking it out of the box to installing in the bumper of my Chevy and wiping my hands on my pants. If my nosy and talkative neighbor wouldn't have been staring over my shoulder, it would have been installed in under 5 minutes. 127695

Working fine.

No issues to report, the unit is working fine.

Looks to be good quality. Easy to install. Remove the old connector by depressing the keeper, turning it counter clock wise about a quarter turn, slide it out, depress the keeper on the wiring harness connector and unpluging the unit. Install the new connector by pluging in the wiring harness connector, sliding the unit through the bumper hole and turning it about a quarter turn clock wise to lock it in place. It took less time than writing this. 89755

After a year, I still believe this product is well made of high quallity products. It is operating well as I expected it would. Thank you for building and selling this product.

This summer I added 51-97-4105th WheelGooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug - 9 Longto make hook ups that much easier for my fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers. It installed relatively easily there was some drilling and filing involved to get the receptacle in the side of the truck bed.

Looks like OEM and took all of a minute or two to install. The video was very helpful to show how to remove plate on back of rear bumper. The wiring harness on my 2012 Silverado wasn place so it was only a matter of removing plate and plugging in. A seven point adapter then plugs into this and the trailer plug just pushes onto the adapter. I tried both a seven point adapter that I kept from my 2005 Silverado and also a seven point adapter that my brother has on a 2011 Honda Pilot and they are all universal and worked just fine.. Very user friendly. The tow hitch took about 45 minutes to also install with no help (though a second person could make it a 30 minute ordeal tops). Very pleased and the shipping was ahead of original date with just normal ground freight.. 47314

Perfect fit for my 2008 Silverado. Identical to the adapter used in my wife's 2007 Suburban, except hers says "GM" and mine says "Pollack." This is all assuming it works, I haven't hooked a trailer up to it yet. 11806

After spending a little time online figuring out how this connector attaches to the factory hitch (push the tab, twist about 1/4 turn, pull out far enough to reach wiring harness connector), I ordered one from etrailer. When I got it, it took me all of 5 minutes to remove the broken connector and install the new one. Upon examining the OEM connector, which says "GM" on the lid's outside, it says "Pollak" on the inside, so the OEM part was built by this aftermarket company. No wonder it fit so well! BTW, the original broke because of cockpit error, not because of manufacturing defect. 128958

used this plug to replace the factory "filler". this item is well built, excellent spring, just what i needed to keep the 7 way option (used with a four way trailer harness). breeze to install and fits snugger than the factory one (2008 silverado). would recommend and first time ordering with etrailer...will do business again, great products to fit any situation, outstanding service and prices. videos are great too. look no further than this company. shipping was fast. A++++ all the way around. good job guys. 75414

piece of cake without the installaton video to show how easy this is to install, I might have relegated the entire hitch install to a shop, just to avoid having to cut into the wiring harness and making a big mess of things. In 20 seconds I was able to utilize the factory wiring harness and leave a profesional looking result when I was done. My 09 Chevy Silvarado came equiped with a 7 wire trailering harness, in case I want to tow something, like a camper with a electric refrigerator onboard, I wil be all set to go. 4786

The manufacturer (Pollak) directed me to etrailer where I easily located the correct trailer connector. Apparently my 2004 Nissan Titan was retrofitted at the dealer with this style connector. I bought the vehicle new. The dealer's parts department had no information for this part or the hitch. Your website was easy to navigate and the pictures simplified the process. Replacing the broken original was a five minute job. The new connector fit perfectly. I wish all repairs were as easy. 65118

Plug, twist, done. That easy. My 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 already had the wires, so I just plugged the wires to the back of this unit, twisted it into the hole next to my license plate on my rear bumper, and was done. Unit looks good and all connectios work as they should. Etrailer shipped the unit quick, packed it securely. They offer tutorials and guides for most of their items. I feel safe when I order from Etrailer, knowing that the item will arrive as described. 152845

I have a 2008 GMC 2500HD and this replacement plug fit perfect. The cover was broken on my factory plug, and I simply turned it until it popped out of the bumper. I then unpluged the wiring harness from the back and plugged it in to the replacement plug. I then twisted the new one into place and was done. I would put a little grease on it or the bumper next time becaus it went in very tight. All in all it takes 5 min. or less to install. Great aftermarket product 108338

by: Ed E.09/08/2014

The product has been made from a harder, phenolic plastic (not like the OEM part which is a more flexible plastic) which restricts its flexibility during assembly to an older vehicle with some surface rusting. I needed to file the interface surfaces to increase the slot gap on the part to be more compatible with the vehicle bumper material thickness. On a new vehicle, I would assume that there would be less of an issue. 150371

by: Nick05/20/2011

Very easy...Installed in about 10 seconds. Product did not completely cover the holes through the bumper that existed from the factory harness insert. So you can see light a little bit of light around the product. 14933

Perfect fit for a 2010 Silverado 2500HD. Time saving tip: It's not necessary to disconnect the molex plug from the old connector before twisting it out like it shows on the video. Just twist out the old one and the cable bundle will come through the hole in the bumper. From there you can disconnect the plug and plug in the new connector. It will save you two trips under the truck! 194832

The twist-in,7-pole,RV-style trailer connector was perfect for my 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. It works good, looks good and fit like a glove. etrailer was great, but they should stop using UPS Mail Innovations. It took them ten days to get the package to the USPS office. USPS got my package to me in one day. To long to wait. Should only take 5 to 7 days. USPS is better. 160452

I was told by a dealer he would charge me $80 to wire in my tow hitch. I watched a video on the installation that was just over a minute long, that was about how long it took me. • Troubleshooting No 12 Volt Power at 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2009 Chevy or GM Duramax Pickup
  • I would first test the 12 volt wire hooked up to the RV-Style Trailer Connector, # PK11916, to see if the wire itself is carrying power. If it is, then there is something wrong inside the connector such as a loose connection or its wired to the wrong pin. If no power is on the wire, then I would check the other wiring to make sure you have the correct wire. If you are still not getting 12 volt power then you know something is wrong between the wiring at the rear of the truck and where...

  • Removing the 7-Way Trailer Wiring Plug from the Housing, 2010 Chevy Silverado with Factory 7-Way

There may be a little tab or lever on the top that you will need to hold down when pulling the housing away from the plug, like in the video linked below on a 2009 model. Make sure that you do not pull on the wires themselves...

It will also reduce wear and tear on the vehicle and trailer brakes. I have included a link to our brake controller FAQ article for you to view. For your 2005 GMC Sierra, I recommend the Tekonsha P2 # 90885 and...
