This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your Acura MDX's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Acura MDX's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Acura MDX operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Today, well be installing the Curt T-connector Wiring Kit, part #C56038, on our 2012 Acura MDX. To begin our installation, well open the rear hatch and remove the access door on the drivers side rear scuff panel. Well open the rear storage door and remove the storage tray and jack storage door. We can then pull back on the black cargo liner. Well route the drivers side harness connector under the trim panel and up to the junction box here inside the removed access door. Well insert the harness connector into the receptacle here in the junction box.
Well next need to locate a suitable grounding point where well take our white wire with a ring terminal and attach it to the vehicle. Well then take our adhesive tape and adhere it to the black converter box, and find a suitable location on the vehicle to adhere to the other side. Well now take our 10-amp fuse and install it into the fuse holder here on the wiring harness. With that done, that will complete the installation. Well now go ahead and reinstall the cover panels and show you how the 4-pole works.
Well route the four flat wire to the center of the vehicle and out the hatch when in use. The molding around the hatch opening is soft enough that it will not damage the wiring harness, although you do want to stay away from the latch on the cargo door as this will damage the wiring harness. When not in use, you just simply roll up the harness and place it into your storage tray. That completes the installation of the Curt T-connector wiring harness, part #C56038, on our 2012 Acura MDX.

I purchased this for an Acura MDX. It was a little cheaper than the DrawTite brand. The video on Etrailer's web site for installing this product was spot on. It just took a few minutes. I tested the lights with my trailer and they work just fine.68277
