Thank you for a GREAT product . My order was processed , shipped and delivered with precision . I have an older but reliable 1999 Ford 350 DWD Super Duty and your 5th tailgate fits like a custom made glove . The workmanship is excellent and the finish compliments the overall look of my truck.
So the tailgate instructions are lacking for starters. There’s a few dings on the tailgate where the paint is gone. Looking at the back of the truck, on the bottom where it connects, none of the spacers worked. So the top connections are snug but my bottom connections have play in them. I ordered the right one for my truck year make and model so I’m not sure what that’s about. It looks good, but I wish it fit properly and did not have chipped paint. Shipping was fast.

Plastic but durable. Unless you open and close it a lot. Then the closing mechanisms break. No parts can be found and the warranty says I have to ship the whole thing back to get replaced and I have to cover all shipping.
I purchased same a few years back from etrailer and didn't hesitate to again. The improvements since ,to now are great ,stronger ,trim end pieces,and lock are a great improvement.Love it and etrailer for always what I need. All the videos help so much.

Works great at slowing down my heavy Ford F250 tailgate when opening. It was actually a bit dangerous to lower the tailgate before, and definitely I needed to have both hands on it. Now I can release the latch with one hand and step back for a soft opening.
Very misleading as to which part number to order on the website. When I called to resolve the ordering issue I was not offered any help, refund or otherwise. I have had great experiences in the past with etrailer but unfortunately this was not their best. Because of this I have started shopping elsewhere and don’t plan to return as a customer.

Great addition to the tailgate. It really brings out the look of your Stromberg Carlson 4000 Tailgate. I have never been one to stand on my tailgate. I always use a step ladder so this will last me a lifetime. Very happy with this purchase.
Make quick release pins thanks. A little bit to pricey by itself, maybe include it with the tailgate?

Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist w/ Cable - 300 lbs
The Lift Assist works as described and installation was straightforward. The only tricky part was experimenting with various combinations of large and small springs to get the correct balance. Also it would be nice if shorter bolts were included for installation on angle iron rails.
This is the most simple assist to install. Used it on a folding aluminum gate and it takes NO EFFORT to drop or raise the gate. Best unit on the market and etrailer is the BEST for service (had many questions on install for a folding gate)

Rack'Em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist w/ Chain - 200 lbs
Received the product. Thanks for the speedy shipping. I have installed the product and am very pleased with it's operation. It was very easy to install . Since it was placed on my trailer's side gate, I only had to make one small change. I drilled two mounting holes into the gate bracket and mounted it with the adjustment holes on the outside in order to keep the lift chain straight on it's sprockets. (shown in picture). I had to purchase nothing extra for the double barrel lifter and it works great. Friends are already commenting on it and getting the order info from me. More will come when the snow and ice clears.
I am very pleased with this product. I have installed this on my split tailgate and it works flawlessly. I have another trailer with the gorilla tailgate assists on both sides. I would pick the RA-27C double barrel over the gorilla springs, hands down. I have included some pics to help anyone else with a split tailgate. This is what I came up with and it works great!

Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock for Ford Trucks
Quite straight forward to install. Good bang for the buck if you don't need much weight loaded on the tailgate. Used with the Husky Backup Camera Relocation Kit on my 2013 F-150. Simple mod to the camera kit (cut off lower wire cover and use longer screws to attach to gate where you want it.) Camera is wide angle enough that placement isn't that critical.
I just love this product for it replaced my rusty tailgate. My truck has an updated look and a lighter tailgate for me to manage. Less bending and reaching to get things out of cargo area. I made some modifications which improve the cargo area security. The seller of this product was great.

TrailSeal Tailgate Gasket- A Tight Tailgate Seal
I ordered the TrailSeal Tailgate Gasket for my 2022 Ford F-150 Platinum which has a power tailgate. The install took about 15 minutes and appears that it will do a good job of sealing out dust and snow. The kit had good instructions and contained more than enough material. After installation the tailgate closed and locked with a push of the button. When installing make sure you have everything lined up the way you want as the adhesive will not let you reposition the gasket.
I used this to seal around my Ridgeline dual action tailgate. I already had installed a backflip hard folding cover. The seal works great. I now get a very small amount of water in the bed in a hard rain

This tailgate is the ultimate "plug and play" item. In total it took me less than 30 minutes to open the box and install it. It was so quick and easy I triple checked it fearing I messed up. Light weight yet sturdy.
This tailgate looks great and works great. The instructions are easy to follow for the installation. It took me about 20 minutes to complete the installation process. I recommend the Carlson Stromberg 4000 series tailgate.

Extang MaxSeal Tailgate Seal - 10' Long
The seal works very well on my 2018 Silverado, with the exception of the area near the top of the tailgate, where there is just not a good way to seal it. Not the fault of Extang tape, so I sealed almost all the way to the top and I never have any issues with dirt or rain getting in. I would buy this product again.
I don't know what other pickups are like but Ford didn't do anyone any favors with all the curves in the tailgate. Have said that I followed the directions exactly and got a good seal except for the bottom corners. So I took the little bit of extra and put a piece in each corner (picture) and that pretty much took care of the gap. I have a 2019 F-150.

Now I can drop the tailgate and it won’t drop like a sack of rice! Installation is easy until I cut off the washer on the cable bolt only to realize that I don’t need to cut it. Got a replacement washer from O’Reillys. Read and understand the instructions, do not rush it.
Great product very easy to install. You can install in about 30 minutes!!!! No more losing control of tailgate falling fast and out of control.

Tailgate word perfectly for my needs, I live in northwestern New Mexico and use it spring to fall for 5 th wheel convenience during hookup and dropping trailer. The light weight and v shape eliminates much of the fear of baking normal tailgate into trailer. I don’t have to drop tailgate to hook up. Was difficult to sand rubber inserts to fit on initial install but I got it done, also doesn’t provide theft deterrent from bed as the v opens enough for hand to reach latch on by backflip tonneau cover however I knew that would be the case before I purchased. I am totally satisfied with my tailgate.
Great product. Only problem I encountered was installing bottom screw on the end covers.

Relatively easy to install. 1st timers should allow atleast 30 mins. In operation: Just pop the tailgate handle & let-go the tailgate opens nicely w/o your assistance. (note: light weight Ram gate) On Installation: the nut assembly, for the tailgate empty hole insertion, may need just a tap w/a hammer to enter the hole; I know I had to tap it. Finally, I hope the spring clips in the ball joint of the pump hold up under regular use... time will tell. Also, the clear protective mylar? If, it's the 3x5 piece of paper I found in item box; I couldn't peel it. Satisfied & thanks! Rob

This product was purchased for its safety. Many times when my wife was opening the tailgate she found that it was hard to control it as it opened. For me it was not a problem but she loves. Along with the electric lock its been a nice upgrade.
Installs easy, but I’ve still not found a way to let the tailgate to open smoothly but those summers does help the tailgate from slamming down. I actually feel like the children is harder to lift but that was my concern it was the drop. Seems like the cylinder in the tailgate in the frame there’s just not enough room for everything and I’ve tried numerous things that I just can’t get it to open smoothly and the tailgate work perfectly before I started this overall accomplished what I want I just have to talk to tell you a couple times to get it to release

Seal installed easily With exception of sidewall seal on my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. Big gap between sidewall and tailgate, Resorted to putting seal next to the taillight assembly as shown in pictures, no gaps between tailgate and seal.
worked great for about 10 opening and closings of the tail gate, then the large "bottom" piece started coming off. now a year later, the bottom piece is off and I have a dusty truck bed. yay gravel road life....

After I installed this tailgate, I can never go back to the original! The photo speaks for itself. East assembly with no adjustment for proper fit. Installed on 11-1 more than 10 compliments on 11-2. A must have even if you don’t have a 5th wheel..
I didn’t realize how flimsy and plastic this tailgate was when I bought it, but that’s on me for not reading the the entire description I suppose. I don’t think it was worth the purchase but it did save me some cost over a replacement oem tailgate that would have to be painted to match. I hate that it only has a 100lb capacity. Also closing it is a 2 part process, you have to slam one side then push hard on the other side to ensure both sides are latched, this is due to it’s flimsy plastic construction. My kids are constantly jumping oin and off the tailgate at the ranch before, so now I can only be worried that it will break. If they made a steel version with ORM camera mount this would be a great product. As for now time will tell but I’m not convinced it will hold up over time.

Love the look. East to install. Needed to use my old cables and had to buy some fasteners and washers to attach the cables and also had to buy the hinge bushings. But for the price and the quality I am very happy.
Pro: 1:fit and finish (excellent) 2:shipping arrived 2 days early (awesome) 3:packaging good (everything arrived intact) Con: (nitpicking) 1: latch bolts should not be slothead (replaced with something not so prone to stripping) 2: could have used more of the rubber spacers (sandwiched steel washers). Summary: Used on 05 dodge 3500, would buy again. Very pleased with product.

Hello, I purchased the 2015 Ford F-150 Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate and followed the directions. Everything worked correctly until I reached Step 11 - Reattach your factory tailgate cables to your new 100 Series tailgate.. The nuts are built into the tailgate. You need to either include (2) 1/2-inch nuts or state in the documentation the customer must purchase (2) 1/2-inch nuts to complete Step 11. I attached a picture showing the Ford tailgate and cable and the finished install. The install went faster than expected less than 30 minutes and looks great on my truck.
I ordered the wrong gate, but was able to make it work. I love the product, great service

2003 Chevrolet SilveradoOne year ago I purchased this model tailgate for my 2003 Silverado. I found immediately that delivery of it as without exception the fastest. This tailgate made the act of hooking and unhooking from my 5th wheel trailer was simplified tremendously. The visual of the Pin lining up with the hitch was very clear. The Tailgate did require some minor assembly by me however minimal tools were all that was needed for the assembly. This took a mere 30 minutes for me to perform and the tailgate fit perfectly. It still looks great to this day and performs excellently. I recommend this product without reservation.

Today on our 2012 Ford F250 we're going to be taking a look at the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate, part number VG-97-100. This is what our tailgate looks like fully installed. It's going to have that nice big cutout so you're going to have access to your 5th wheel, as well as when you're backing up you're going to be able to see. The louver design is going to cut down wind noise and drag, possibly increase your gas mileage, and make it easier to see when you're backing up to your trailer. As you can see, this is a custom fit tailgate, and the lines of it are going to contour perfectly to the body of our truck. Today on our 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Husky liners premium fifth wheel louvered tailgate with locking handle, part number, HL15130. It's got a large cut out to allow access for your fifth wheel or your gooseneck trailer, without having to let your gate down you can simply pass it across and attach it. You can see it's a nice fully welded, aluminum tailgate, weighs about half what a traditional tailgate weighs. Still uses a center style latch like your factory, and your safety cables, and it has a key so you can lock it and keep it in place, so nobody can run off with your tailgate.
