Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Malibu

Hi, John with Etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Brake Buddy Classic 3 portable supplemental braking system. Now this is being installed on the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu LT. Now the Brake Buddy is a good choice for you if, say, you have a lease vehicle and you don't wanna dump a whole lot of money with a supplemental braking system into a car that you might just be getting rid of in a few years. Or, if you have multiple vehicles that you flat tow, this is a lightweight, fully self-contained unit, that's gonna get all of your supplemental braking done for you. This also includes an alert system that's a wireless alert system.

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Malibu

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the SMI Stay In Play duo supplemental braking system, part number SM99251. Here's what it looks like once it's installed in the vehicle. The operating unit here is going to be what controls and creates the air pressure needed to operate the air cylinder that's mounted to the brake pedal. Here's the cylinder that mounts to the brake pedal. We've got the air line that comes out the front here connecting to our operating unit. This is going to be a permanently installed system. This air cylinder is always going to be here, but it is up out of the way of the driver's foot, so it won't interfere when driving the car normally.

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Today on our 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, we'll be reviewing and installing the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO supplemental braking system for towed vehicles, part number SM99251. Now once we're hooked up to our tow vehicle, while someone is pressing on the brake pedal in our tow vehicle, we can go ahead and set the G force controller. To do that, we'll turn our G force controller on, rotate the knob to loosen it, and slide it up. We'll slide up just far enough to turn off the control unit to another 1/6 of an inch, and then turn the thumb wheel to lock it down. Now our G force controller unit is set. Now one of the really nice features of our SMI supplemental braking system is it's super simple to use once it's set up. Simply turn your switch on, mount your indicator light, and you're ready to head on down the road.
