Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer, we're doing a test fit of the Carpod 23x47 walled cargo carrier, part number M2205. It's designed to work with two inch hitches and has a weight capacity of 450 pounds. The first thing we're going to do is take a few measurements. Our ground clearance is first, we have about 20 1/2 inches. Overall to the vehicle we're adding about 34 inches. Our closest point is going to be on this raised shank here, at about 5 1/2 inches away. With our Explorer we do have a dual exhaust, comes out of the passenger and driver side. Although it's lower than the carrier, it still comes out about 15 1/2 inches, so you may want to be careful carrying any heat sensitive materials on your carrier.

Rola Dart Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2013 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer we'll be test fitting the 23x56 Rola Dart Cargo Carrier for Two Inch Hitches, part number 59550. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch. Line up the pin hole and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tightening it with a wrench. Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements.With the cargo carrier in the folded position we have about 13 1/2 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the rear of our vehicle is about four inches and we've added 12 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. Now go ahead and pull the orange handle at the top of the carrier to allow our carrier to unfold.With it in this position we now have a ground clearance of about 17 inches and overall length of 36 inches and we have 16 inches from the closest part of the carrier to our exhaust which exits on both the driver and passenger side of our vehicle.



Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2013 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer, well be test fitting part number C18145. This is the Curt 20x48 Cargo Carrier for both 1-1/4 and 2-inch hitches.Now, to begin our test fit using the included adapter that comes with the cargo carrier for our 2-inch hitch, well slide our shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, our cargo carrier is secured to the vehicle.Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance here at the back of the cargo carrier is 14 inches and from the closest point of the cargo carrier to the back of the vehicle is 2-1/2 inches. Now, the overall length added to the vehicle with this cargo carrier is 22 inches. The exhaust on this Ford does exit both the passenger side as well as the drive side here at the rear bumper.
