2007 Honda Pilot Bike Rack Questions

  • Yes, there is an adapter that is used for the exact purpose of carrying alternative frame bikes. I recommend using the Swagman Easy Out Adapter Bar # 64005. This bike adapter bar will connect between the seat post and the handle bars, providing a horizontal cross-tube to secure the bikes in the rack. This will allow your girls bikes with full suspension, to mount in the your newly purchased Pro-Series Eclipse Bike Rack. Using this adapter bar will place the suspension below...

  • A class II hitch usually has a lower capacity and has an 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inch opening, while a class III hitch has the more common 2 inch opening. I have included a couple of helpful articles that explain the differences between hitch classes and receiver sizes. I would recommend the Sportrack bike rack, part # SR2404 for your needs. It is a very popular 4-bike rack that will work great with a class III hitch. I have included a link to a video of this bike rack for you. The...

  • At this time we do not have a trunk mounted bike rack designed to fit the 2007 Honda Pilot. The reason there is not a trunk mount for the Pilot is that there is no safe position to attach the lower straps. For the Mazda 3 Sedan 3 bike trunk mount racks are not recommended because the vehicle construction cannot handle more than two bikes. In your situation the best recommendation would most likely be a hitch mounted bike rack and hitch for each vehicle. For the Pilot, I...

  • All things considered the I believe the Sportrack 3 Bike Rack # SR2403 has the advantage because of its ability to be folded up for storage. However, there are a few differences between these racks. The Sportrack model has a higher capacity at 132 pounds/45 per bike. The Swagman is at 120 pounds. The Swagman also has a distance of 11 inches from the center of the hitch pin out to the nearest upright bar of the rack while the Sportrack has a distance of 12-1/2 inches. I also...

  • It isn't that there isn't enough support it is the fact that the top spoiler or trim piece is not meant to support any weight itself. Adding a crossbar would not help or it would not help enough as there would still be tension on that spoiler piece. You would need to use the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack, # HRF2-3. This rack has an additional upper arm piece that moves the top straps up and over that spoiler so no weight is put on it (since the spoiler is not meant to...

  • You can use a trunk mount bike carrier on your 2007 Honda Pilot. You will need to use the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2 for 2 bikes or # HRF2-3 for 3 bikes. These racks have an additional upper arm piece that moves the top straps up and over that spoiler so no weight is put on it (since the spoiler is not meant to support weight). I have included a link to a video that shows how it works. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that...

  • If you wanted to also have the cable lock/anti-rattle bolt lock for the Swagman Chinook part # S64683 you would need the # S64031 as well. This replaces the hitch lock and comes with the cable you want.

  • I see that you purchased the # 75599 Draw-Tite trailer hitch, which has a 2 inch receiver opening. This was a great choice for carrying a bike rack, and the # TH9028XT rack you referenced would work well with it, as long as you have enough clearance. To be certain that the Thule Vertex 2-bike rack will clear the bumper on your 2007 Honda Pilot, you will want to take a quick measurement. Measure out from the center of the hitch pin hole until you have cleared the bumper. The...

  • The Pro Series Eclipse 4 Bike Rack # 63124 will fit on your 2007 Honda Pilot as long as you have a 2" Hitch installed on your vehicle. However, the Velcro closures holding the bikes to the rack are not very secure. I recommend going with the SportRack 4 Bike Rack # SR2404 as it can still hold 4 bikes, but is built from better material. If you do not have a hitch for your 2007 Honda Pilot, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III 2" Hitch # 75599 for your vehicle. I recommend this...
