Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bars - RM-RSSA

Keep your motor home in line with this unique system. The sturdy steel spring works to correct oversteering and return your vehicle to center for increased control. Requires custom mounting brackets (sold separately).

Features:

  • Compensates for oversteering and returns your vehicle to center
    • Tempered steel spring works to return to its normal state - when compressed, spring pushes back into neutral position; when extended, it pulls back
  • Attaches to the steering mechanism on one end and to the chassis undercarriage on the other
    • Tight connection between these components keeps steering firm and controlled
  • Helps you to maintain control of your vehicle in the event of crosswinds, rut tracking, road edging or a tire blowout
  • Reduces road fatigue - stabilizer keeps you centered so that you don't have to work as hard to steer
  • Installs in approximately 1 hour with no drilling or welding
    • Custom mounting brackets (sold separately) are required for installation
  • Made in USA
  • Limited 1-year warranty

A variety of things can make your vehicle veer - crosswinds, uneven pavement, tire blowout. The key to a pleasant, and safe, driving experience is learning how to deal with these situations. Roadmaster's Reflex Steering Stabilizer works to return your vehicle to center when something happens that causes it to swerve or jolt. As a result, you won't have to oversteer in an attempt to stay in line, thus minimizing road fatigue.

The stabilizer attaches to your vehicle's tie rod on one end and to the frame on the other. A heavy-duty steel spring runs the length of the rod, constantly working to keep steering controlled. If you steer your vehicle one way and it gets pulled the opposite way, the spring will stretch momentarily and then quickly pull back to its normal state. If you oversteer your vehicle in the same direction it is already moving, the spring will compress for a moment but then push back out to its prior state. No matter how you steer or how the frame is pushed or pulled, your vehicle will always return to center.

Today we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer for Class A Motor Homes. Now, you'll be able to keep your motor home in line with this stabilizer. The sturdy steel spring will work to correct over-steering and returns your vehicle to center for increased control. Now, there's a variety of things that can make your vehicle veer like crosswinds, uneven pavement, or even a tire blowout, but the key to a pleasant and safe driving experience is learning how to deal with these situations. This Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer will work to return your vehicle to center when something happens that causes it to swerve or jolt. As a result, you won't have to over-steer and attempt to stay in line, thus minimizing your road fatigue. This stabilizer has a tempered steel spring secured at both ends to a specifically designed and valve steering inaudible 00:44.

One end of the stabilizer is attached to the tie rod itself. The other end is securely fastened to the chassis undercarriage. This heavy-duty steel spring that runs the length of the rod will constantly work to keep your steering controlled. Basically what happens, if you steer your vehicle one way and it gets pulled the opposite way, the spring will stretch momentarily and then quickly pull back to its normal state. Now, if you over-steer your vehicle the same direction it's already moving, the spring will compress for a moment, but then it will push back out to its prior state.

No matter how you steer or how the frame is pushed or pulled, your vehicle will always return to center. Now, this part will install in approximately about one hour with no drilling or welding. It does require custom mounting brackets for installation. We do sell those separately on our website. Basically what you do is go to our website, go to the application guide, find the stabilizer kit for your vehicle. What you'll first want to do is identify the chassis of your motor home.

Then refer to the app guide, which will list the stabilizer and your stabilizer's mounting brackets for your chassis, simple as that. This part is made in the USA, but that should do it for the review of the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer for Class A Motor Homes.

I received my front anti sway bar (RM-1139-140) around noon on the day it was promised. The package was undamaged and all parts were contained within. After lunch I installed the bar in less than 30 minutes, which included the removal of the factory bar. I installed it by myself from the ground. Simple install although I did deviate some from the instructions to make it easier for me as the bar is heavy. Instructions say to attach the bar to the axle with the bushings and saddle clamps first, then bolt the endlinks. Instead I bolted the endlinks first then simply swung/rotated the bar to the axle and attached with the saddle clamps. I did not have to lift the heavy bar to the axle as the weight was already supported by the endlinks. Easier if doing the install alone in my opinion. About a week prior I had installed a Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer ( RSSA-RBK9). These 2 items greatly improved the steering and sway problems which were extremely bad in my 2013 Winnebago Vista 26HE. So bad that I considered the drive extremely stressful and dangerous. With these 2 parts added the drive is now 80 to 90 per cent improved. Very happy. 286393

Our 2013 motohome is built on the Ford F-53 chassis with a 20,500 GVWR. Prior to this trip, i had driven the motorhome 11,000 miles. I ordered the stabilizer while travelling and had it shipped to a warehouse facility. We picked it up, drove an hour to a highway rest area, and installed it in an hour. Our 3,000 mile trip through 4 western states allowed testing in most weather and road conditions. Our motorhome is 30 ft long with a 190 inch wheelbase so it requires a lot of focus on steering when there are strong sidewinds and/or when large trucks are passing from behind. After driving for 8 hours, my upper body would be worn out. The steering stabilizer is a very subtle addition. It softens the impact such that major steering corrections are no longer required. At first I thought we wern't encountering the same conditions as we had on previous trips because the steering corrections were minor. After 1500 miles it became evident that the stabilizer was doing its job. I still feel the pressure from wind and trucks while driving but I'm not nearly as tired at the end of the day. 230874

Review from a similar Roadmaster Reflex in Anti-Sway Bars

I waited to write the review because on my initial test after install I could not tell the difference on the drive since there was virtually no wind. Today it was blowing hard with strong gusts. Drove about ten miles on the highway at 75 to 80 mph into strong cross winds and some areas with road construction in progress. It really works. Completely improved the drive. I still feel the wind bursts, but no longer have to fight for control. Highly recommend. Word of caution: the instructions provided by Roadmaster are inaccurate for my Ford E350 Class B+ RV. I will try to attach pictures. 233672

A very solid and well-built product. Installed without difficulty on my 1997 HR Endeavor but could use better pictures in the installation manual. You will need a 1 1/8" combination wrench, a 1 1/8" socket, and a torque wrench. To achieve a parallel position, the driver end of the shock should be installed below the bracket and the passenger end of the shock should be installed above the clamp/bracket. The enclosed pictures indicate a parallel install with adequate clearance to all components. 108738

Thanks for the fast shipment of this order -- This stablizer was installed on a 07, Monaco Camelot, with a Dana Axle, & air bags -- Your web site states that the RBK6 will not fit a Dana axle -- I called Roadmaster, & they said it will fit, & it does --The The steering stablizer install was not a tough job at all -- The only problem was loosening the nuts that hold the axle, & the bolts not being long enough to add the bracket -- I do have air tools, & I heated the nuts with a plumbers tourch -- It took longer to free the the nuts, that it took to do the rest of the install -- On the test drive, no adjustment was needed -- Very pleased from order to install -- William Willard 50094

Review from a similar Roadmaster Reflex in Anti-Sway Bars

This was put on a 2011 32' Class C Motor Home with a Ford E450 Chassis. With the stock factory stabilizer, the vehicle was just white knuckle drivable while towing a 4000 SUV, especially when passing a truck or in the cross winds of the mountains. I had an older Blue OX stabilizer on a 1999 E450 26' Class C and it worked well. Since they now only make the $900 TrueCenter (which I wasn't spending), I tried this. It worked fairly well and installation was easy. I was a bit concerned how close the bracket comes to the connectors on the steering linkage, but it seemed to work. I also didn't like the that instructions showed generic pictures for placement so I am not sure if it is optimally seated considering that the unit can be adjusted greatly in many directions. Still, the unit work well and held up to most of the cross winds going from MI to NM. The quality is good and it is USA made. But I do believe the could lower the price much more, especially on the brackets which are 1/3 the price are just 2 L plates, 4 bolts and 2 Ubolts. But after searching, this is the fault of RoadMaster, not etrailer.com. etrailer was the only one to offer a package on both the unit and the brackets and the best price. The delivery was also very fast. 22437

Review from a similar Roadmaster Reflex in Anti-Sway Bars

Ordering was a breeze due to the product and job knowledge and skills of Jena. The Product was shipped as scheduled and arrived undamaged and on time. I had to recruit a couple of young men to assist in the installation and after a brief walkthrough of the provided installation materials, the installation was accomplished in less than an hour. The test drive after installation was a thrill. This product performed well above my expectations, what a remarkable improvement in driving ease and comfort. While my motorhome is well maintained and serviced it is a 2000 model and the steering is a little loose. Before the install, driving at highway speeds was a constant challenge, both hands on the wheel to prevent unintentional wandering left and right. After the install, the motorhome tracked well and lane maintenance was easier and less tiring. I must give this product a near excellent rating and must also give a nod to etrailer.com for their expertise and customer service. 230101

Hey George, After speaking with your sales team I was kinda concerned this item was going to be backordered but was surprised with your prompt processing. I muscled this beefy steering stabilizer on in a little over an hour without any special tools (other than a cheater bar). I'm still waiting to road test it but don't anticipate any problems. Thanks! 295418

The install was pretty easy. Your instruction sheet needs to be updated as paragraphs 4 and 6 were not accurate. I suspect the bracket design changed since the instructions were written. The only issue I had was the tie rod was almost directly over the front nut of the shock mount bracket. I was able to remove the nut with a short socket and extension. But, when I reinstalled the bracket, washer and nut, I could not get the socket off. I had to leave the washer off and then I was able to remove the socket. I really like the way the RSS improved the steering feel. The wheel feels "tighter" now and I don't get the twitching and jerking I got before when hitting potholes or seams in the roadway. It also reduces the amount of input you have to use on the steering wheel when driving in strong crosswinds or passing semis. Even though my coach is brand new, this was an excellent addition. I would recommend this product to anyone. 62395

Received the steering stabilizer just as promised. Had read all the reviews and instructions I could find and was a little concerned about some of the difficulties with fit and installation on some models. Rounded up every metric and sae tool I had and went under the motorhome to see if I was putting on the product or sending it back. After getting my bearings looking at everything upside down I found it incredibly easy to install. Only needed two long shank sockets and two open end wrenches. Brackets and stabilizer fit perfectly. Brackets and stabilizer are all very heavy duty and of high quality construction. Only additional item I purchased was a floor creeper just to be comfortable. Very pleased with installation and driving the motorhome was a substantial improvement. Steers like my buick and all the reviews were correct regarding driving motorhome with one hand. Just a great easy improvement. 140757

Review from a similar Roadmaster Reflex in Anti-Sway Bars

Our Winny Brave experienced violent front end oscillation at three different times; after driving over diagonal rail road tracks on two occasions and once again after a pot hole. I had the front end aligned (it needed it) and the shop recommended the steering damper to remedy the oscillation problem. I drove the unit thirty six miles without the addition of the damper and handling was improved, but it still drifted and changed directions with road surface changes. I have and put another thirty six miles on the unit since the damper addition and I can feel the change. The steering feels rock steady with no side to side drift or direction change, even over some of our local rough roads. We are planning a trip that will take us back over the diagonal RR tracks and I can't wait to see if the violent oscillation is gone for good. Initial indications are that the problem is cured. 296901

I installed this on a 2013 Chevy Express 3500 class "C" motorhome chassis on a 2014 THOR motorhome. I did this on my driveway without lifting the motorhome. The fit was tight for ME, but I could reach everything to install the stabilizer. The install took about one hour. I test drove the motorhome and the set-up was fine.I drove the motorhome the next day over 450 miles, WHAT A DIFFERANCE! Follow the instructions and its an easy install. The only helpfull hint thats not in the instructions is that you can use a 1/4" open end wrench to hold the end of the strut piston to keep it from spinning when you tighten up the mounting nut. The piston end is flattened for this purpose. This with a set of bilistien shocks takes all the sway out of the unit. The crosswinds and semi trucks don't effect it like when it was factory set-up ! I recommend this stabilizer! 151281

I am very happy with the steering stabilizer I purchased from etrailer. I installed it myself and it went on easy with all of the parts necessary for the installation included. I would recommend etrailer and their services to anyone. By the way I called the manufacturer and they quoted me a price that was significantly higher than etrailer, consequently I bought it from etrailer and am glad I did. Not only did I save money, but I saved the price of having it installed by following their directions and doing it myself. I initially talked to Marcia and she took the time to help me understand my needs and find the right product for my needs and was a real hoot on the phone. She was professional and made me want to deal with her for future purchases. I am absolutely happy with all aspects of my purchase from etrailer. Thankis, MIke 142108

Review from a similar Roadmaster Reflex in Anti-Sway Bars

After installing the steering stabilizer I believe it provides better control for my motorhome, so I would recommend it. However, I take exception to the 1 hour installation time. My son and I did the install in his driveway with the front of the motorhome raised slightly so we did not have the advantage of a lift. Disassembly of the OEM stabilizer from the motorhome was a breeze. However, Roadmaster provided the wrong nuts which go on the studs at each end of their stabilizer. The stabilizer stud threads are fine and the nuts provided were course. Therefore, a work stoppage until I could go to Lowes and get fine thread nuts with locking nylon. At any rate, I had a good time with my son doing the project together, and when I test drove the motorhome, I was pleased with the results. 122084

Etrailer did Excellent job, the ordering process was very efficient. The process time was fast. They shipped my order early; and I got the product in 4 days, not hassle. They kept me well informed form beginning to end and I will order form them again, when I have the need. This may be heavy duty front and rear sway bars. As for the stabilizer arm, I have yet to do a road trip with it installed. I got it to try and limit wind slip on the highway, in by Winnebago Aspect, on a Ford E450 frame. I do know it was the more cost effective solution as the next best option, a fully intergraded, hydraulic, computer control, steering stabilizer, which costs well over $1,000 and requires specialized installation. 50842

I have installed the RoadMaster steering stabilizer and anti-sway bars on my 2016 Winnebago Vista with a Ford F-53 chassis. I knew going in that these products would improve the ride and handling, but I did not realize they would change a stressful drive into a relaxing trip. I am a 73 year old do it yourselfer, and I was able to install the steering stabilizer and front sway bar in my driveway. The rear stabilizer was a little out of my scope. While these products did reduce the trucks pushing us around and made it much easier to hold the road, however, 20 mph winds are still blowing the big box around. I think these should be on all F-53"s or at least offered as an option by the dealer. 271385

Great quality Roadmaster steering stabilizer for my Freightliner chassis motorhome at good price. Installed quite easily. The mounting brackets instructions for installation were confusing it said install plate on top of tie rod but the drawing on the instructions showed it on the bottom of the tie rod. And there was a photo of it on the top. 48822

I installed this on my 31ft class c motorhome on a 2010 Ford e450 chassis. It was easy to install and I am very pleased with the results. It really tightens the steering up and the wheel does a great job at returning to center after a turn. On my vehicle I had to be extra careful it was not rubbing on the lower radiator hose and I had a helper turn the wheel lock to lock just to double check the clearances. I also installed new sway bars on the front and rear and my 7 ton Rv now handles as well as a suv. The communication from etrailer was excellent, I highly recommend the product and the company. 112519

I have a E450 super duty class C. Unit does make a difference at speed, 50MPH+. It took about an hour to install and although the instruction said to reuse the existing U bolts the kit came with new U bolts and the tech guy at Roadmaster was somewhat surprised when he reviewed the instructions. You do have to be careful to make sure of the position on the drag link so that the spring assemble does not rub on the lower radiator hose when the steering is turned to the left. 206598

I installed this kit, along with front and rear sway bar upgrades, on my Ford F53. This kit was a very simple install, and took less than an hour with some simple tools. My only gripe is the same as I had for the other two kits, and that is the lack of specific torque specs in the Roadmaster instructions. This kit contained the best guidance, and since it didn't reused any existing Ford F53 fasteners, it was most straightforward in terms of torque specs. 224320

I have only driven my Winnie 5 miles since installing the Steering Stabilizer. Fortunately there was a very strong xwind (about 20 mph). I did not realize how strong the xwind was until I saw a large flag standing/snapping straight out, perpendicular to the Winnie. Very-very happy to NOT be fighting the wind. Was unsure of which bracket since thee was a choice of 2. Michael researched and steered me to the correct one. The unit was ordered and received quicker than I had expected. I did take RV to alignment shop and they installed it for me in less than 30 minutes. The steering stabilizer should be standard equipment, not an accessory. Product is robust, mounting brackets are substantial. Installation can be a challenge - removing suspension u-bolt nuts can tax even a powerful impact gun, even after soaking with WD40. After that the unit installs easily. After a couple test drives I can definitely attest to the improvement in steering stability, much less tendency to track ruts in the roadway. Worth the investment. 148593

Based on recommendations, purchased product. I'm tired of fighting the steering in wind and large trucks. Will be tested next week. Customer service with Etrailer is exceptional, everyone was very helpful. Denitra, Ann and couple others names I do not remember. Quick delivery 4 days almost across country. Would I order from E-Trailer again? Absolutely..... 185120

This is our 4th kit installed on customer vehicles - all GMC/Chevy 3500 - customers were all getting an uncontrollable, violent & dangerous shake - this is taking care of it!! Why they do not come out of factory with one installed is strange!! Bracket kit is an easy install - no drilling/new holes! Very happy with the product & free shipping was great too!! 157800

I had a reflex stabilizer on a type A motor home that I traded for this one. Was very satisfied, it did away with the wind sway and the draft of passing trucks, I would recommend it to all with this problem. I have installed it on current Cross Country but have not driven it yet, have no doubt it will also do the same for it. 106198

Very good product! Well worth the price as it made driving our new 2014 itasca sunstar a lot better .than it was without the stablizer. Now the trucks passing us are not blowing us of the road! 137859

Did you install it yourself? And I would imagine that it would also fit the 2014 Itasca Suncrusier as well am I correct?

I have checked with my contacts at Roadmaster and this Steering Stabilizer is confirmed as a fit if your Itasca is on a Ford F-53 V10 Chassis.

Stabilizer installed while having front end alined by tech. $125. Have driven only 50 freeway miles. Seems to help, but will need further eval. U- bolts slipped on test drive and were re-tightened by shop. Hope u-bolt slipping doesn't become problem. Maybe muffler type u-bolt with teeth would work better. 292820

Fantastic stabilizer! Installation was easy with a near perfect fit. After installing on my 2006 Chevy Express 3500 cutaway box van it completely eliminated the brake shimmy (which seemingly most all Chevy vans suffer from, especially under heavy load braking). Highly recommend this product! 247015

etrailer had the part I needed and it was extremely fast on shipping to the RV park we were staying at. Living full time in a RV makes it hard to have parts shipped to you. Ordering was a breeze and CS agent very helpful. Thanks again and I'm sure my white knuckle drives will be better! 310909

Called several RV centers and no one wanted to install the steering stabilizer, so I installed it myself, took about 2 hours to install and properly adjust it for no pulling, made the difference between day and night. No more white knuckle driving, worth every cent sent on it. 204176

The stabilizer shock installed on my front end worked great on a 6 week trip across the US. It greatly reduced sway on my motorhome from passing trucks, side winds, and wind gusts. I wish I had purchased and installed this 5 years ago! SImple to install and it REALLY works! 301383

Fairly easy install and initial use seems positive. Instructions says to keep U bolts and you don't with the kit, no big deal. Instructions says to rotate drag counterclockwise before tightening the U bolts, from what perspective, maybe should say to back or front of vehicle 290286

Received word from Tech that this stabilizer should fit my 2014 E450 V10 Class C Thor Chateau. Received it withing 5 days (paid extra) and it has been installed. I will test drive tomorrow afternoon (5/23/14.) Praying that it will tighten up some very scarey loose steering. 131830
