The open design of Stage 2 systems allows more air into the engine compartment, thereby boosting horsepower and torque. An increase in airflow also leads to a deep, throaty sound. Stainless steel installation hardware is included. This value pack includes a Pro Dry S air filter, a pre-filter and a restoration kit to help clean and re-oil air filter.
A. Made from 16-gauge, powder coated steel, the heat shield is durable and easy to install. Its single-piece construction eliminates the need for cutting or drilling; it simply replaces the entire stock airbox.
B. The three-angle adapter ring, located on the inside of the heat shield, bridges the connection between the air filter and the intake tube. Its conical shape helps to increase airflow velocity before air enters the intake tube.
C. The heat-insulating, molded plastic intake tube replaces the stock intake tube by screwing into the back of the heat shield, and its improved design decreases back pressure. All aFe intake tubes have raised stops that help to form strong connections and prevent slippage.
D. This intake system contains an aFe Pro Guard 7 oil-based air filter for ultimate engine protection. Designed for heavy-duty diesel and off-road Dodge Ram Pickups, it performs well in all driving conditions, but it particularly excels in extremely dusty environments. Composed of 100-percent polyurethane on all sides, the filter withstands high engine temperatures. Five layers of progressively finer, medical-grade cotton gauze and two layers of non-woven synthetic polyester fabric with random porosity block 99.7 percent of dirt and grime from clogging your engine. These materials combine with a specially formulated oil coating to yield a high-performance airflow and extended services intervals. All aFe air filters are washable and reusable; cleaning and re-oiling are recommended once every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.
Each aFe product undergoes extensive dyno and bench testing to measure airflow and maximize gains, which are represented in performance charts that highlight the airflow benefits of aFe models over stock models. As demonstrated by this performance chart, this aFe air intake offers gains of up to 21 horsepower (red lines) and 53 foot-pounds of torque (blue lines) compared with the stock model.
