Its inverted design showcases deeper pleats that increase the surface area, yielding a higher dust-holding capacity. The large opening in the flat panel at the top increases airflow; because this filter does not contain a narrow flange that connects directly to the intake tube, air flows more freely through the system. Designed for heavy-duty diesel and off-road GMC Sierras, it performs well in all driving conditions, but the filter particularly excels in extremely dusty environments. The filter is encased in expandable metal and epoxy-coated aluminum wire mesh, and it provides the flexibility necessary for diesel applications. The high strength-to-weight ratio accommodates maximum loads and helps to protect diesel engines. Composed of 100-percent polyurethane on all sides, the filter withstands high engine temperatures.
Five layers of progressively finer, medical-grade cotton gauze and two layers of non-woven polyester fabric with random porosity block 99.7 percent of dirt and grime from clogging your engine. These materials combine with the specially formulated oil coating to provide high-performance airflow and extended service intervals. This aFe air filter is washable and reusable; cleaning and re-oiling are recommended once every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.
