Get the wiring required to tow a trailer behind your car - when your car is not being flat towed - by installing this specially designed harness. Just plug this wiring harness into the connection point on your TrailerMate custom tail light wiring kit, and turn your towed car into a tow car. Note: Your TrailerMate custom tail light wiring harness for towed vehicles must have a built-in connection point at the rear of your vehicle for this harness to be properly plugged in.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. The tail light converter that is built into this harness combines the brake and turn signal functions of your car so that they run on one wire. As a result, your trailer's tail lights will activate properly.

Today on our 2007 Saturn Vue, we'll be installing the trailer-made custom taillight four-pole flat trailer connector, part number TM85340. This will plug in directly to the trailer-made custom four-pole wiring kit for towed vehicles. To connect our new four-pole, we'll simply remove the plug cover and plug directly into the tow port. Then, we'll need to mount the converter box. To do this, we'll take a self-tapping screw and run it directly into the overlap of the body sheet metal. Next, we'll take the white wire, which is a ground wire for our converter box and has a pre-attached ring terminal.
Run it over to the vehicle frame with a self-tapping screw and ground it directly to the frame. Next, I'll take a couple of black zip ties and secure my wiring. Now, we'll take the four-pole connector and route over the hitch. Keep in mind when routing any of your wires to stay away from excessive heat, such as exhaust, or moving components such as steering and suspension. We'll go ahead and route the four-pole wire between the bumper inaudible 00:01:08 brackets.
We're going to go through three brackets and then back to the center of the hitch. Now, we can install the plug cover and attach it to the hitch. Now, to clean up my install look, we'll use one more black zip tie to secure the wiring and then we'll clip off the excess from our zip ties. That'll complete the install of the trailer-made custom trailing four-pole wiring kit, part number TM85340 on our 2007 Saturn Vue.
