The protector screening is well made. the instructions were not very clear nor were the supporting pictures but the schematic view made it fairly easy to assemble and install with some figuring out. after finishing the install I saw that with the current height setting of the support arms, my RV ladder would rub the left support arm and therefore quickly wear out the fabric, so I took it apart and dropped it down to the bottom holes and its better now. its a shame there is not an easier way to remove it from the RV than to remove the entire roadmaster hitch from the RV. that is a downside and I may well modify it for that. All in all, this will prevent much of the rock damage in the future and will hopefully prevent me from acquiring so much road tar from pothole repairs. I recommend it and will update this review after I actually use it on the tow car in a few weeks.. 179861

This product is easy to install as long as you follow the enclosed instructions. I have not used the Tow Defender today. However, I have friends that have used it with great results. Typically, on a class A motorhome you have mud guards that should protect your tow vehicle but they actually create a bigger problem. I purchased this Tow Defender to compliment the Roadmaster Shield which I currently own. The problem with the shield is that rocks bounce off the shield and hit the rear of the motorhome. The Tow Defender Screen will stop this. 172125

Quality construction, clear instructions, well packed for shipping and my husband had no trouble with the installation. . . With my help, of course! Can't wait to try the shield in the near future. We have a Hallmark camper that we tow the Jeep behind. Will send photo when everything is hooked up. Congratulations on a quality product. 72920

  • Available Options for Rock Guards to Protect Towed Vehicle
  • There are other options for protecting your towed vehicle other than the Roadmaster Guardian you mentioned. The Roadmaster Tow Defender, part # RM-4700 stretches between the RV and the towed vehicle, deflecting rocks downward before they can damage your vehicle. The Tow defender attaches to the tow bar and the quick disconnects on the vehicle base plates. Roadmaster also offers the Roadwing Removable Mud Flaps, part # RM-44000. The Roadwing is available in various widths, see the...

  • Everything Needed to Allow Flat Towing of My 2000 Chevy Tracker 4 door Behind Motorhome
  • You are headed in the right direction. The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 1012-1, will fit your 2000 Chevrolet Tracker, as long as you do not have the factory brush guard option on your vehicle. The RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, item # RM-020 will work nicely with the 2000 Tracker that should weigh in at less than 4,000 lbs. To connect the Tracker tow bar to the XL base plate kit and be able to remove the base plate draw bars you will also need the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect...

  • Comparing the Roadmaster Tow Defender and Blue Ox Kargard II Vehicle Protectors
  • On both the Tow Defender, # RM-4700, and the Kargard II, # BX88255, when parked and you need to drive the vehicle you simply detach the item from the base plates on the front of the towed vehicle and roll up the screen. It then secures to the end mounted on the motor home. Both of these items mount around the tow bar or ball mount on the motor home. Removal is quick and easy as you can see in the instructions I have linked for the Kargard. Since you have Blue Ox components you will...

  • List of Parts Needed to Flat Tow A 2010 Honda CR-V with a RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar
  • Along with the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar, item # RM-020, you will need a set of base plates for the 2010 Honda CR-V. The correct base plate kit for your vehicle is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 1559-1. This kit will not work on vehicles with a brushguard installed on the front. You will also need a set of Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnects, item # RM-201. These will allow you to disconnect the tow bar, cross bar from the vehicle brackets so the brackets can easily be removed. Next,...

  • Will Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-070 Work with Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar and Tow Defender
  • The Roadmaster High-Low Adapter, part # RM-070, is designed for use with a tow bar only. It will work with the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar, part # RM-522, you have referenced. This adapter is meant to be used when towing a rolling load on four wheels so it will not encounter any tongue weight or downward force of over 100 lbs. The tongue weight you will have on the adapter when towing a vehicle with the four wheels down will mainly be the weight of the stinger that is inserted...

  • Is the Tow Defender Protective Screening # 4750 Compatible with MX Roadmaster Base Plates
  • The Tow Defender Protections Screen part # RM-4750 would work for you as long as you have a Roadmaster tow bar that installs and folds up on the RV. The TrailerMate Tail Light Wiring Harness part # 781124 is not only the cat's meow, some would argue it is also the cat's pajamas. I attached an install video that shows this product being installed on a very similar 2012 Jeep Wrangler as yours. You are definitely on the right track.

  • Can a Roadmaster Hitch Extender be Used with a Tow Defender to Flat Tow a Honda Pilot
  • As long as the combined weight of the Tow Defender # RM-4700 and the tongue weight applied to the hitch from the tow bar when the vehicle is coupled is less than 100 pounds, then yes, you can use the extender # RM-071-75 with the Tow Defender. The Tow Defender weighs about 20 pounds. This means that the vertical weight applied from the vehicle at the point where the tow bar connects to the extender cannot be more than 80 pounds. I recommend an extender that is rated higher such as...

  • Windshield Protection Recommendations For Flat Towing
  • The purpose of the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard, # RM-4000, is to not only protect the finish and front fascia of your vehicle from rocks and other road debris, but also to keep rocks and gravel from ricocheting off of the vehicle and hitting the windshield or motorhome. To protect the windshield from rocks and debris that may make its way over the Guardian, I recommend checking out the Roadmaster Tow Defender, # RM-4700. The Tow Defender stretches from the receiver to the tow vehicle...

  • What Towbar and Baseplate Kit are Needed for Towing the 2011 Chevy Equinox

The RoadMaster Sterling All Terrain Tow Bar with 6-Wire Electric Cord - 6,000 lbs, item # RM-576 that you selected would be an excellent choice for towing your vehicle if your motorhome has a 2 inch hitch mounted at the rear. • Will a Tow Defender Protective Screen Work with Roadmaster MX Style Base Plates
  • I am not sure where the MX base plates are excluded from the Tow Defender products. The MX base plates are only compatible with certain tow bars (Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon and Falcon 2) but the Tow Defender products will work despite the base plates being used. But Roadmaster indicates that Tow Defender # RM-4700 fits all Roadmaster tow bars with Quick-Disconnect systems but will not fit MX base plates. • Compatability of RoadMaster Tow Defender Screen part RM-4700 and Blackhawk2 Towbar
  • Yes, the RoadMaster Tow Defender Screen, part # RM-4700, will fit the Blackhawk 2 Towbar. They are both RoadMaster products, and RoadMaster designed the screen to be a universal item so it can fit any of their towbars and towbars from other manufacturers.

  • Can a Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Be Used with a Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar
  • To go from a Roadmaster Sterling Tow bar part # RM-576 to a Blue Ox base plate kit all you would need is the correct adapter. For that you would need the # RM-031. Now to use the two accessories you referenced the Tow Defender part # RM-4700 and # RM-4000 you would have to use a Roadmaster base plate kit instead of the Blue Ox. For your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee you would want the part # 521440-1B. Check out the FAQ article I attached to the right on flat towing for more info.

  • Can the Roadmaster Tow Defender be Used While Flat Towing a 2014 Ford F-150
  • As long as the Roadmaster base plate kit you end up going with is an XL and not MX style of base plate the Tow Defender part # RM-4700 that you referenced would work well for you. If you have an EcoBoost 2014 Ford F-150 you would want the base plate kit # 4431-1, if you don't have an EcoBoost you would want the part # 495-1A. Both of these base plate kits and your Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 would work well with the # RM-4700.
