Pro Series Accessories and Parts - RP30092

Features:

  • Provides the clearance required for your short-bed pickup truck to safely complete slow-speed turns
    • Increases space between the cab and the trailer, allowing for greater turning clearance
      • Moves hitch and trailer king pin 10" closer to the tailgate of your truck
    • Locks in place between the truck cab and the rear axle for highway towing
  • Works with Pro Series 15,000-lb, 16,000-lb and 20,000-lb 5th-wheel trailer hitches
  • Slides smoothly with 4-roller design
  • Can be fully adjusted with trailer attached
  • Includes rubber grip handle that can be mounted on either side of slider
  • Designed for use on trucks with beds shorter than 8'
  • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails

Specs:

  • Application: Pro Series 15,000-lb, 16,000-lb and 20,000-lb 5th-wheel trailer hitches
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • 10-Year limited warranty

Note: A minimum 13" extender trailer pin box is recommended. If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be positioned on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, a slider may be used to move the fifth-wheel hitch and the trailer closer to your truck's tailgate and create enough space between your truck cab and the corner of your trailer to safely execute a slow-speed turn.

When you are making a 45-degree turn in a truck with a bed shorter than 8' and no slider, the corner of your fifth-wheel trailer may strike the back of your truck's cab.

By installing a slider with 10" of travel, you can eliminate the interference between trailer and truck cab in turns up to 80 degrees.

Pro Series Fifth Wheel Hitch Review

Video Transcript for Pro Series Fifth Wheel Hitch Review

Today we are going to show you the Pro Series line of fifth wheel hitches. The Pro Series family of fifth wheels is a great way for people new to the fifth wheeling hobby to get into it without investing a whole lot of money. They are also a nice fit for a budget conscious fifth wheel tower. The Pro Series fifth wheel hitches are available in 15000 15K, 16000 16K, and 20000 20K pound capacities. All of these hitches include the basic functions and features needed to properly tow a fifth wheel trailer. 00:26

First up is the Pro Series 15K pound head. This head features a four-way pivot both front to back and the top plate goes side to side. The side to side pivot allows a full five degrees for easy hook up even on uneven ground. The 15K Pro Series also uses a less expensive slide bar stop to lock the king pin into the head. Next we have the Pro Series 16K head. This head is a fully floating head that provides plenty of movement side to side and front to back. This will help the fifth wheel track easier when traveling and it also makes hook up very easy. It features the same slide bar latching mechanism as the 15K but it features a fully floating head. The fully floating head will allow the fifth wheel to track a little bit easier, make hooking and unhooking the trailer easy. 01:16

Finally we have the Pro Series 20K pound head. Again the head is fully floating but this time with the increased capacity we also use double locking jaws. The double locking jaws provide more contact around the king pin and will help reduce noise. It also features a lockable latch. The latch allows you to secure and lock the jaws to prevent them from coming open when traveling. The Pro Series family of fifth wheel hitches uses traditional above bed fifth wheel rails to attach to the truck. The height of the head is adjustable from 13 to 17 inches. This includes a three year warranty. There is also a Pro Series slider kit available part number RP30092. The Pro Series family of hitches includes a 15K pound hitch part number PS30093, a 16K pound hitch part number PS30089, as well as a 20K pound hitch part number PS30119.

I just received the product and will install it this weekend. I'm sure the product itself will be just fine and the delivery was great. The one item which I found frustrating was the fact that I emailed a question and received no response even after I followed up about one week after my initial request. I finally ordered this produce even though I wasn't sure it was the right fit for my situation. I find that very disconserting especially after having such good service in the past.21126

  • Which Slider Will Work for a 15K Fifth Wheel on a Ford F-250 Short Bed
  • If it is a Pro Series 15K hitch, you should be able to un-bolt the head from the fixed legs and then bolt it to this slider, part # RP30092. You would lose the lowest hitch head setting when switching from fixed legs to a slider. If it is not a Pro Series model, you can probably use part # RP30048. It is built for standard Reese heads 15-18K, model numbers: 30049, 30046, 30051, 30047 and 30081. If you write back with the make and model number of your hitch, I can help you determine what so

  • Will A Reese 15K Fifth Wheel Head Fit The Reese Pro Series Fifth Wheel Slider # RP30092
  • I spoke with my contact at Reese and he said that the Reese 15K head # 30032 will fit into the Pro Series Fifth Wheel Slider, part # RP30092. He said as long as it is a Reese product the mounting dimensions will be the same on the Reese slider unit as it is on a Reese fixed leg hitch. Please note, if you are switching from fixed legs, you will lose the lowest head height position. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Pro Series slider # RP30092.

  • I spoke with my contact at Reese and he stated that the Reese Trail Boss 15K 5th wheel trailer hitch head will fit on the Pro Series Slider, # RP30092. So both parts are compatible with each other. I have included a link to the installation details for the slider for reference.

  • Availability of Slider for Draw-Tite 16K Hitch to Change Fixed Hitch to Slider Hitch
  • Your Draw-Tite 16K fifth wheel hitch head will attach to the Reese Square Tube Slider, part # RP30048, and get an extra 10 inches of front to back travel. Keep in mind, due to the locking mechanism of the slider units, you will lose the lowest hitch head height setting.

  • Position of the Rear Rail for a 5th Wheel Installation Kit on a 1999 Ford F-250 Long Bed
  • If you are using a universal installation kit, # RP30035, and your 1999 Ford F-250 is a light duty (under 8,500 pounds GCVW) then from the rear edge of the truck bed to the back of the rear rail is 29-1/4 inches. If you have a Super Duty F-250, it is 32-1/4 inches. I have included a link to the instructions for you. I have also included a link to a video showing an installation on a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty using installation kit # RP50082 that might help you.

  • Best Option for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2010 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 ft Bed
  • The best option for towing a fifth wheel trailer with your 2010 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 ft bed is using a sidewinder pin box and a fixed fifth wheel hitch. This is the only option that will allow you to safely execute a 90 degree turn. Sidewinder pin boxes are designed to fit specific OEM pin boxes, so if you can tell me the manufacturer and model number of your pin box (Lippert 1621, Fabex PB-600, Leland 7921, etc.), then I can recommend a specific sidewinder that will work for you. • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit for a 2012 Ford F-150 Crew Cab w/5-1/2 Foot Bed
  • If the rear gross axle weight rating is 3,850 pounds, you need to stay below that. Allowing a little cushion room would be ideal. If it were me I would look at no more than 3,500 pounds. You actually cannot use a sliding 5th wheel hitch. On a 5-1/2 foot bed you HAVE to use a stationary hitch and a Sidewinder to get the extra clearance needed to make tight turns. First you will need an installation kit. You can use # RP30080. I have linked the instructions and a video showing a typical in

  • Will the Reese Pro Series Fifth Wheel Slider w/ Rollers for 15K and 16K Head Work with a 14K Head
  • As long as the 14K head you are referring to is a Reese 14K head then, yes, the mounting dimensions are the same and the 14K head will attach to the Pro Series Fifth Wheel Slider w/ Rollers for 15K and 16K Head, item # RP30092. Please note, if you are switching from fixed legs, you will lose the lowest head height position.

  • Need for Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch with Short Bed Truck
  • The hitch and trailer manufacturers recommend the use of a fifth wheel hitch with slider on trucks with beds between 6 and 8 feet long. The fact that your camper has an extended pin box will provide you with some more clearance, and improve the chances that your will be able to negotiate 90 degree turns without having the trailer loft strike the rear of your truck cab, but using a slider is still strongly recommended. You can use a Kwik Slide Fifth Wheel Slider for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitc
