Attachment Bracket for 6 and 7 Way Vehicle End Trailer Connectors
The hose clamp is used to secure this long bracket to the trailer hitch. The bracket then provides a sturdy place to attach the connector specific mounting bracket (Piece 2 of 2). This long bracket works great on 6 and 7 pole trailer connectors that need more space to mount.
Note: Use this piece with any of the following mounting brackets to make a no-drill mount for your trailer connector:

Today on our 2003 Cadillac Escalade, well be installing the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 7 and 4 Pole, part number HM40975. This will be in conjunction with the Draw-Tite No Drill Mounting Bracket, part number 18136. First lets go ahead and identify the manufactures wiring that well be using. As you can see, its bundled up here behind the bumper against the frame. Well go ahead and untie it and run it down to the hitch. Now for this application we want the wire to go over the hitch, so Im going to go ahead and loosen up the hitch enough to get the wire connector over the top of the hitch and between the bumper.
After weve re-secured the hitch to manufacturers specifications, we can go ahead and install the universal mounting bracket using the cable clamp provided. Now with that in place were ready to go ahead and install the bracket and connector. Well be installing the bracket using the self-tapping screws provided with our install kit. Now with the bracket mounted, well feed the wiring harness through the bracket and connect it into the back of the 7 and 4 pole connector. Now with the connection made well pull on it just to make sure that we have it locked into position and then well lock the connector into the bracket.
With that our install is complete. There you have it for the install of the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 7 and 4 Pole, part number HM40975 in conjunction with the Draw-Tite No Drill Mounting Bracket, part number 18136 on our 2003 Cadillac Escalade. .

This is a very sturdy, thick plate. While it is listed as "for 6 & 7 pin" connectors only (and it's smaller sister item is for 4 & 5 pin connectors), please look at your setup first. The reason this is for the 6/7 pin setups is because of the distance the connector sticks out the back. This is a much longer plate for that very reason, but.... here's the kicker. On my 2010 Expedition EL, I have to mount this on the bottom of the hitch square tube, NOT over the top. Thus, my connnector hang 100% under the hitch tubing. Given the distance that this thing sticks out, I could have gotten the shorter plate for a more recessed look on my vehicle. Also, my hitch tubing sits completely behind the bumper plastic, so I need to cut about a 1" high by 3" wide notch in the bumper plastic. None of these are negatives to this item, but the description says I HAD to use this for my 7pin, when I truly did not have to. Not etrailer's fault, just my observation. SUPER FAST SHIPPING made this easier to swallow too!69620

This bracket is the answer to mounting trailer wiring to my Hidden Hitch. However, the 'quick-adjust' worm-drive hose clamp that comes with it does not hold well, and so I substituted 2 regular stainless steel hose clamps side by side. That holds the bracket very securely.67000

I was concerned this bracket might be flimsy but that is not the case. I'm not sure I need it for my installation as my Draw Tite# 75586 hitch appears to have the mounting holes for the bracket already to accept the ETBC7 kit, however, the bracket would extend and lift the ETBC7 7-pin connector for easier access and added protection respectively. In any case, for the price I feel it is cheap insurance in case I do need it. 53539

the plate is fine but the strap to hold the plate on would not get tight. screw it until it was close then it would pop and be loose again. piece of garbage!!! had to go buy a new better one!!!21240

Like dealing with merchants in the good old days! I first ordered an LED trailer plug converter from Etrailer over a year ago. Worked perfect until I broke it by driving away from the trailer without unplugging it. Bought three more. Etrailer kept me updated on the progress of the order, etc. Followed up with emails letting me know that the were backordered but would arrive soon. Discard the clamp The plate is great for mounting the plug connector. Open the package and toss the clamp. Buy a smaller clamp that actually can be tighten and loosen with ease. The one with the package is an engineering night mare. 1868
