Many tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower your tow bar so that it sits level. To determine if your setup needs an adapter, hook the tow bar up to your RV and towed car and measure to see how close to level it is. The "safe zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3 inches above level to 3 inches below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Ask the Experts about this Blue Ox Accessories and Parts

  • Can a Roadmaster High-Low Adapter be Used with a Blue Ox Tow Bar to Flat Tow a Honda CR-V
  • You can use a Roadmaster high-low adapter with your Blue Ox flat towing set up without worry about warranty issues. I believe the Roadmaster adapter is # RM-048-10. It is rated for 10,000 pounds. If you wanted to play it safe and stick with Blue Ox then use # BX88132. It is rated at 5,000 pounds which should still be more than enough for a Honda CR-V.

  • Hitch Adapter Recommendation For Flat Towing
  • We do carry adapter bars for the very reason you are experiencing. Many tow systems require an adapter to make the tow bar more level. Normally the safe zone for towing a vehicle is either 3 inches above or 3 inches below. You want to make sure your towed vehicle is absolutely level for safe towing. I recommend the Blue Ox High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars, part # BX88131. It has a weight capacity of 5000 lbs, fits 2 inch by 2 inch receivers, and has a rise/drop of 8 inches. It measures...

  • Compatibility of Blue Ox Kar Gard II w/ Aventa Tow Bar on 2010 Jeep Wrangler with 5 Inch Lift
  • The Blue Ox KarGard II should work fine for your application because it mounts to the towbar itself, not to the vehicle. The towbar needs to install so it's within 3 inches plus or minus of level. Blue Ox offers many different high/low adapters that can be used to level the towbar. Measure the height difference between the receiver on the motorhome and the towbar mounting tabs on the vehicle bumper. Since the mounts on the Jeep are likely taller than the receiver on the motorhome, the...

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier For Front Hitch On 2012 Chevrolet Suburban 1500
  • The first thing you will want to do is check with your owners manual or with your dealership to see what the tongue weight capacity if for the hitch on the front of your 2012 Suburban. If you choose an adapter in your hitch you need to note that using an adapter will reduce the hitch carrying capacity by 50 percent. Part # BX88241, part # BX88131, part # RM-048-8, and part # RM-048-10 are all designed to be used for flat-towing only and are not designed to be installed in a front hitch...
