2011 Subaru Questions and Answers

  • Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2011 Subaru Legacy with the SportRack Roof Rack # SR1010
  • We have many kayak carriers that are compatible with the SportRack Roof Rack, # SR1010. My favorite kayak carriers are the J-style kayak carriers due to their unique design. There are many different kayak carriers to choose from. SportRack offers the J-Style Kayak Carrier, # SR5511. A few other carriers that I would recommend are the Thule Hull-A-Port Pro # TH835PRO and the Yakima HullRaiser # Y04039. You will be able to fit two J-style kayak carriers on the SportRack roof rack on your 2011

  • Using Curt # D210 Multipurpose Ball Mount With a 2 Inch Rise Ball on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • To answer your question correctly, I pulled the Curt part # D210 as well as Curt part # C40034 which is a 2 inch hitch ball with a 2 inch rise. I put them together and measured the distance between the top of the ball and the bottom of the inside of the receiver. The distance is 1-3/4 inches. I have attached a picture that has your results noted. I do have a few possible solution for you, however, I have two issues that keep returning with the Curt Dual Purpose Ball Mount: first, the Curt # D

  • Can a Trailer Connector be Routed Under a 2011 Subaru Tribeca
  • The wiring harnesses like # C55370 for the 2011 Subaru Tribeca are meant to be stored in the vehicle cargo area and then pulled out the back with the rear hatch closed on it (the weatherstripping on the vehicle will protect it) when you need it. In order to route it down under the vehicle you will need to find a grommet or some exit point at the lowest point in the cargo area. If there is no grommet or you find one that is not large enough you will have to drill through the bottom of the veh

  • Can the Self-Locking, Aluminum Ball Mount # DTLBM8600 be Used in the Rise Position
  • Yes, you can use aluminum ball mount # DTLBM8600 in the rise or drop position. When used in the rise position it will provide 5 inches of rise. In the drop position it offers 6 inches of drop. Since trailer hitch # 87568 is a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver, you can use any ball mount that is a fit and provides the correct rise or drop to tow your trailer level. In order to determine the correct rise or drop you will need I have included a link to our FAQ article on ball mounts. I hav

  • Curt Hitch Recommendation for 2011 Subaru Forester Towing a Motorcycle Trailer
  • The only way to know that for sure would be to load the motorcycle into the trailer and check the setups tongue weight. I attached an FAQ article on determining tongue weight for you to check out. Typically, tongue weight is 10-15% of the total weight of trailer. So if your whole setup is 2,100 then most likely your tongue weight would be between 210 lbs and 315 lbs, which would be adequate for a hitch with a 350 lb tongue weight capacity like the Draw-Tite Hitch # 36521. However, I still wou

  • Trailer Hitch Compatibility with a 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport
  • The reason class II trailer hitches are not recommended for your 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport is because your vehicle has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. I confirmed these capacities with my local Subaru dealer. This information can also be found in your owners manual under the towing section. Trailer hitch manufacturers design trailer hitches for vehicles based on the specs provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Since the maximum towi

  • Fit and Rear Hatch Clearance of Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 on 2011 Subaru Outback Sport
  • According to my Yakima Representative, the RocketBox Pro 14 # Y07192 is indeed a fit for the factory crossbars on your Outback Sport. Yakima To determine if you will have hatch clearance, you will need to take a quick measurement. If your front crossbar is adjustable, adjust it so that it is moved forward as far as it will go. Measure the distance from the center of the crossbar rearward to the seam where the hatch meets the roof. If this distance is 45 inches or greater, the RocketBox Pro 1

  • The Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, part # THSTL2, you have referenced, is the complete bolt and lock that works on both 1-1/4 inch and 2-inch Thule hitch mounted racks. The product page for this part will list the many Thule hitch bike racks that it will fit. We also sell the the Thule Replacement Threaded Pin, part # 853-5917, which is just the threaded bolt portion of the lock. The bolt uses a 12mm thread which is unique to Thule and it has an overall length of 4-3/4 inc

  • Ground Clearance on the Thule T2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • Because of the way the Thule T2, # TH916XTR, is designed, there is actually a rise of 4-3/4 inches from the top of the receiver opening on the trailer hitch to the bottom of the nearest platform. The rack angles up even more towards the back and the bottom of the furthest end from the receiver is 3/4 inches higher. Based on this rise you will not have to worry too much about ground clearance unless you are on steep grades or go over severe bumps or dips. I have included a link to the inst

  • What is the Weight Capacity of the Yakima KingJoe Pro 3 Trunk Mount Bike Rack
  • On the Yakima KingJoe Pro 3, # Y02625, the weight capacity for 3 bikes is 90 pounds and for 2 bikes it is 60 pounds. If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the Tube Top adapter bar, # Y02531, for greater ground clearance and to carry the bikes more level. I have included a link to a video that shows how the adapter works.

  • Will the Swagman XTC-2 Bike Rack Fit a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon and Carry Recumbent Bikes
  • The Swagmant XTC-2, # S64670, does indeed fit a Class I trailer hitch like the one on your 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon. You will need to determine the wheel base of the recumbent bikes you have to see if this rack can hold them. The XTC-2 can carry a bike with a wheel base up to 66 inches long, measured center to center between the wheels. I have included a picture showing a recumbent bike on this rack for you. I have included links to the instructions and a video review for you to view.

  • Can the Rage Trailer Hitch Mount Motorcycle Carrier be Used on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • If the opening on the receiver is 2 inches, not the overall width on the outside, then you will have Hidden Hitch trailer hitch # 87568. This is a Class III trailer hitch with 600 pounds tongue weight capacity. Most likely, the capacity of the hitch is higher than the vehicle. Consult the vehicle owners manual to determine the capacity of the vehicle and go by the lower rating. With the Class III, 2 inch hitch installed, provided the scooter does not weight over 300 pounds WITH a rear mounted

  • Will the Yakima Little Joe 3 Bike Rack Fit a 2011 Subaru Forester
  • We do have bike rack options for your 2011 Subaru Forester, but according to Yakima, the Little Joe 3 bike rack will not fit your vehicle because your vehicle is unable to support the weight at the point where the bike rack must be placed. Instead, you could look at the KingJoe Pro 2 Bike Rack, # Y02624, or the QuickBack 2 Bike Rack, # Y02621. Yakima states that both of these trunk mounted bike racks will fit your vehicle. To minimize the potential for paint damage, make sure you do not exce

  • Will the Thule Hullavator kayak Carrier Fit a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon with Fold Away Crossbars
  • Based on what I could find, the Thule Hullavator, # TH897XT, will not fit the factory crossbars on the 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon. From what i have found you can remove the crossbars when they are in the side to side position. Then, you can install Yakima LandingPad 12, # Y00236, Control Towers, # Y00214, and crossbars, # Y00408. The LandingPads fit in the holes left by the factory crossbars. The Control towers mount in these LandingPads and hold the crossbars. This will give you a crossba

  • Can a US 4-Way be Converter to a European 7-Way on a 2011 Subaru Forester
  • A European 7-Way trailer connector has the same functions that a US 4-Way has. We do not have an adapter or a harness made with a European 7-Way. If your 2011 Subaru Forester was made for the North American market then you can use the Curt harness, # C56040. However, to get it to work with a European 7-Way, you would need to cut off the 4-Way end and then use another converter, # 118158. You would attach the the white, green, and yellow wires on the input side with the matching colors on the

  • Can the Thule Apex Swinging Bike Rack be Used with a Hitch Extender for a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • I recommend switching from the Apex to the Vertex, # TH9031. The biggest reason is that by using any type of extender or adapter you will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent and that could create too much stress on the hitch and can damage it and the vehicle. The similarities between the two racks also means that you are not losing too many features and you still get a rack that is going to fit the vehicle and work well for you. You can always add a Snug Tite lock, #

  • CIPA Universal Door Mount Towing Mirror # 11650 for 2011 Subaru Impreza
  • Since the CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Universal Towing Mirror attaches to the bottom of the door and between the window and the car door as shown in the video I linked you to, it should fit your Impreza with no problem. The door mount is definitely the way to go for stable mirrors with minimal vibration. The mirrors are sold individually, so if you wanted one mirror for each side of the vehicle, you would order two of them.

  • Highland Sportwing Bike Rack for 2011 Subaru Outback
  • The Highland SportWing bike rack can be used on your Subaru Outback, and is compatible with Class I, II or III receivers. When used with a Class I or II 1-1/4 inch receiver, the included standard hitch pin is used. An anti-rattle wedge like part # 93347 or # F-315 is available, but there is no locking anti-rattle provision available for a 1-1/4 inch receiver. You can have a lock, like # 40106 or anti-rattle, but not both. When used with the 2 inch adapter included with the rack, an anti-ratt

  • Will Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR Clear Rear Bumper When Installed on 2011 Subaru Outback
  • When installed on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon, the Hidden Hitch Class III receiver part # 87568 measures approximately 7 inches from the hitch pin hole to the furthest rearward point of the rear vehicle bumper (see photo). This would mean that any bike rack you choose will need to have a shank measurement longer than that. Since the Hitching Post Pro you referenced offers a shank that measures about 10 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest portion of the rack, it would be a great fit.

  • Can the Rear Hatch be Opened With SportRack Aero XL Installed on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • The SportRack Aero XL, # A90275, should fit the factory crossbars on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon. The great thing about this box is that it is only 63 inches long. This means you should be able to open the rear hatch most of the way if not all of the way. You can also adjust the mounting hardware in the box to move the box forward giving you even more clearance. I have included a link to a review video for you.

  • Why is a Connection to Vehicle Battery Required for Trailer Wiring on a 2011 Subaru Impreza
  • The 12 volt power wire on the Curt Custom Fit Trailer Wiring Harness, # C56111, is designed to provide power for the trailer stop, turn and taillights. This type of wiring harness is designed for vehicles that have sensitive circuitry and thinner wires that cannot handle the additional amperage draw that would be placed on them if trailer wiring was added. The converter box will use the vehicles circuitry to sense when the vehicle brakes, turn signals or taillights are activated and the amper
