1997 Dodge Questions and Answers

  • Is the Cipa Extendable Replacement Manual Towing Mirror Electronic or Manual
  • The CIPA Extendable Replacement Mirror that you mentioned part # CM-83000 is a manual functioning mirror. I have confirmed with CIPA and since this model is a manual mirror you would have to stick you hand out the window and adjust the mirror. Even if your truck is currently set up with an analog knob that controls that mirror there are no cables provided to connect with the analog controlling knob. If your truck has electronic mirrors and you would like to keep that function I would reco

  • How Adjustable From Front to Back are the TracRac G2 Ladder Racks
  • You can slide the rack sections basically as far forward or far back as you need so you could have the rear section to be around 5 feet back if needed. Check out the pic I attached that shows just how far forward you can go with the rear section. I also attached a review video of a similar TracRac G2 Ladder Rack for you to check out.

  • All Lights on Truck and Trailer Blink After Installing New Trailer Lights on 1988 Scamp Trailer
  • On the Transit LED Stop/Side Marker/Tail Light, # STL90RB, only the outer ring of LEDs and the center circle illuminate with the tail light function. The middle ring is a reflector, not a light (see photo). When the stop or turn signal is activated, only the outer ring should illuminate with a higher intensity, not the center circle, I made a short video for you showing how this light should function. Based on your description, it sounds like your trailer has a 3-wire setup rather than the m

  • Replacement Tires and Wheels for a Utility Trailer with P185/70R14 Tires and 5 on 4-1/2 Wheels
  • I would recommend replacing the tires along with the wheels on your utility trailer. The tires that you currently have on your trailer are passenger car tires which can be identified by the P at the beginning of the tire size and it is not a common trailer tire size. Trailer tires will have an ST, or special trailer, designation on the tire size. Trailer tires are constructed with a stronger sidewall and can handle higher air pressures which are needed when carrying a load on a trailer.

  • Measurements and Operation of the Mounting Brackets For Boss Fishing Light Combo, # FL-225B
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Black/White Boss Fishing Light Combo, # FL-225B, and measured the hole diameter on the square mount. The hole is 7/8 inches in diameter. The brackets slide on and are held in place with a clip. The bulbs are not replaceable.

  • 5th Airborne Air Ride Pin Box # 5AB-S0719-600 to Replace Existing Fabex 663 Pin Box
  • To replace your existing Fabex 663 pin box, the 5th Airborne Air Ride Pin Box you mentioned, # 5AB-S0719-600 would be the correct replacement. The 5th Airborne # 5AB-E1621-16K is a replacement for the Lippert 1621, and would not bolt up correctly to your fifth wheel turret. Keep in mind that having an air ride pin box and air bags on the truck can work against each other. In order to achieve the best ride quality, you might find that you need to reduce the pressure in the truck air bags wh

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Platform Style Bike Rack for a 2007 Dodge Dakota and For Use Behind a Trailer
  • You will not have a problem mounting and using the Yakima HoldUp, # Y02433, on your Dakota, but you cannot use it on the back of a trailer. The problem is that only certain bike racks are rated for use behind a trailer, see link. The HoldUp is not rated for the extra bouncing and movement that naturally occurs at the back of a trailer. What I recommend for a platform rack is the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670. This would be an excellent choice because it can be used behind the trailer and behind the

  • Replacement Air Ride Pin Box for a Sprinter 5th Wheel Trailer and Suspension for 1997 Dodge Ram
  • If you want the best ride for your truck and trailer, go with an Ultra-Fab Tr-Glide pin box. We have 2 different models. First, # UF35-946229, fits Lippert 1621 pin boxes. And the other, # UF35-946228, fits Lippert 1716 pin boxes. Any of the replacement pin boxes are specific to the pin box manufacturer and model number currently on the trailer. The Tri-Glide replacement pin boxes have an air bag inside that cushions the load and absorbs road shock including chucking. The added advantage of t

  • How Many Step Pads are on the Pilot Automotive Tube Steps for a 1997 Dodge Ram Extended Cab
  • On the Pilot nerf bars, # NB-202B, the driver side bar has 2 step pads and the passenger side has just 1 step pad. If the driver side has a half door for greater access to the back of the cab, that is why there are 2 pads on the driver side. I have included a link to all of the step bars we carry for a 1997 Dodge Ram.

  • Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500
  • There are different wiring situations depending on how your 1997 Dodge Ram is equipped. If it came with a factory installed 7-Way wiring harness, you will just need wiring harness # 3020-P. One end plugs into the back of the brake controller, the other end plugs into a harness on the truck. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. If your truck came with a factory 4-Way, you will need the same harn

  • Can a Gooseneck Horse Trailer Be Raised to Avoid Making Contact with 1997 Dodge Ram 2500
  • I have a couple of possible solutions for you. First, though, you should check to make sure all of the suspension components are in good working order and replace any damaged or worn parts. If the axle on the trailer is a 3 inch round axle and the spring seats are currently mounted to the bottom of the axle, using the Dexter Over-Under conversion kit, # K71-385-00, that you have referenced will provide a few more inches of height. But this will also change the center of gravity of the traile

  • Both Turn Signals Blink On Trailer When Brake and Signals are Applied at the Same Time
  • The first thing I would check is the trailer side and vehicle side connectors for any dirt or corrosion and clean it out. That could cause a short circuit situation. I would then move on to checking the grounds on the trailer. The main ground should be connected to a bare metal surface on the trailer frame. Most trailer tail lights ground through the mounting studs unless there is an obvious ground wire. In either case, you will want to make sure the grounds are attached to clean, corrosion f

  • Testing Blue Wire on Agility Trailer Brake Controller Shows Low Voltage When Brakes Applied
  • When you step on the brakes the controller will send the preset amount of power along the blue wire. You can adjust how much power is sent back using the up and down arrows on the left side on top of the brake controller. This is a proportional controller so if you are not moving, it does not need to send power back. Using the manual override lever will send full power along the blue wire to the level you have it set at. The red light you see next to the numbers is indicating that a trailer i

  • Does the Battery Charger in My Truck Camper Shut Down When Fully Charged and What to Do if Not
  • I will be glad to try to help. I am guessing here, but I believe what you are saying is that your truck camper has a battery charger that functions when you are connected to shore, household, power. If this is the case, you should contact the camper manufacturer to find out if the charger has a system for checking the battery charge level and shutting down when the battery is fully charged. I imagine the charger in the trailer is set up this way. If the manufacturer cannot provide this informati

  • The Brophy Camper Hold Downs, part HSSF, will fit your 1997 Dodge Ram 1500, as long as it does not have a stepside bed. They are a universal fit item and will fit most full size pick up beds as long as they are not stepside or Dually models.

  • Are Any Parts Other than a Controller and Harness Need for Installation on a 1997 Dodge Ram Tow Pack
  • All you should need is the brake controller and the harness, part # 90195-3020P. I have added links the instructions for both the controller and the harness below as well as a video of the same parts being installed on a 1999 Dodge Ram. I would double check to be sure that brake controller port is there, especially if it is a used truck. We have run across some customers who purchased used trucks and for whatever reason the previous owner cut off the port.

  • Will the Same Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Fit a 1997 Dodge Caravan and a 2005 Pontiac Montana
  • The Hidden Hitch Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 87717, was designed specifically to fit the 1997 Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, Grand Voyager, and Chrysler Town and Country. It will not fit the 2005 Pontiac Montana. The Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch that fits the Montana is # 87410. The recommended ball mount is # 2753. I have included two video installations of this hitch on similar vehicles as well as a link to the installation details below. You might also be interest

  • How is the Blue Wire From In Cabin Brake Controllers Used when Installing a Tekonsha Prodigy RF
  • With the 7-Way installed on your 1997 Dodge Ram 1500, all you will need is the power wire (that is run in the 7-Way connector at the rear of the vehicle). When installed correctly, the 7-Way is connected to the tow vehicles battery which supplies the power needed by the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Brake Controller, # 90250. You do not have to do anything with the blue wire on the vehicle, but the trailer brake power wires will need to be ran to the trailer brake connection inside the trailer end connect

  • Rear of Tow Vehicle Still Sags Once Weight Distribution is Used
  • I would recommend you change the height of the head assembly. Try moving the head up one set of holes on the weight distribution shank, and then re adjust the tilt of the head as necessary. Once correctly set up, your spring bars should be using no less than 5 links, and the spring bars should be either parallel to the trailer frame, or pointing rearward at an angle. This should correct the sag you are experiencing.
