1995 GMC Questions and Answers

  • Installing Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller on 1995 GMC Van
  • A good starting point for your brake controller installation is to review the two attached FAQ articles concerning brake controllers and their wiring and installation. These will provide the information you need to determine parts required and how to install them. For newer vehicles we can often supply a manufacturer-specific wiring harness to connect your brake controller to your vehicle brake control port, but we do not have a custom wiring harness specified for your 1995 GMC van. • 5th Wheel Rail Bracket Recommendations for a 1995 GMC K2500
  • Yes, the Reese Universal Mounting Brackets # RP58314 that you referenced will work on your 1995 GMC K2500. These are just the brackets, if you need the installation hardware plus the rails you would want part # RP30035. If you need just the brackets and hardware minus the rails you would want part # RP30439.

  • No Signal when the Brakes are Applied After Brake Controller Installation on a 1995 GMC Pickup
  • It sounds to me as if you do not have the red brake switch wire or the black power wire from the Agility brake controller, # HM47295, connected to the correct circuit. Use a circuit tester, like part # 3808, to test the black wire first. You should have 12 volt power at all times going into the brake controller. If not you will need to find a constant 12 volt power source. We recommend using 10 gauge wire, # 10-2-1, and a 30 amp circuit breaker, # PK54530, inline on the power wire and attachi

  • Recommendation For Towing Mirrors on a 1995 GMC 2500 HD Towing a 28 Foot Airstream Trailer
  • I have a few choices in towing mirrors for your 1995 GMC 2500 HD towing a 28 foot Airstream trailer. The CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors, part # 10201, and part # 10202, would be a good choice. These mirrors will slide over your existing mirrors and install without any tools. They are fully adjustable and do not obstruct your existing mirrors. The CIPA Deluxe Door Mount Mirror, part # 11650, that you have referenced is also a good choice. It is a universal mount mirror and can mount on either t

  • Wiring Harnesses Needed to Install a Brake Controller on a 1995 GMC C3500
  • Chances are the 1995 GMC C3500 did not come with a factory tow package, so you will have to hardwire the vehicle if you want to use any brake controller. It is not as difficult as it sounds. You will need a few things first. You will need the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. I have included a couple of videos showing this kit being installed. You will also need the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118315, if you do not already have a 4-flat connector. I have included

  • Does CURT Double Lock, Gooseneck Hitch Utilize Existing Holes in the Frame of a 1995 GMC K1500
  • The CURT Double Lock, Flip and Store Gooseneck Hitch, # C600-631, will fit your 1995 GMC K1500. You are correct. It uses factory holes in the frame so that you do not have to drill your truck frame. Obviously you will still need to cut a hole in the bed for the ball to stick through. You can use an offset ball, like part # C602, to pick up some clearance. It has a 4 inch offset.

  • Maximum Tongue Weight for 87516 for 1995 GMC Safari
  • The Hidden Hitch part # 87516, has a maximum weight carrying towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and maximum tongue weight of 500 pounds. If you utilize a weight distribution system, the maximums are increased to 7,500 pounds total weight and 750 pounds tongue weight. Keep in mind, you can only safely tow as much as the lowest rated component of the system can handle.

  • Using a Continuous Ground Circuit to Correct Insufficient Ground Circuit on Pop-Up Camper
  • It sounds as if there is still an insufficient ground connection. I would recommend using a different grounding point on the trailer, and instead of using the trailer body or frame itself as the ground, wire up a continuous ground circuit by running a wire from that grounding point to each lamp on the trailer, creating a foolproof ground circuit.
