1992 Chevrolet Questions and Answers

  • Special Drill Bit for Drilling Into the Bumper of a 1992 Chevy C/K Series Truck
  • For hard to drill metal surfaces I recommend a rotabroach bit. We have several of these, see link, but they will probably be too large for for a 7-way mounting bracket. You can also try to use self-tapping screws like # 1172904 instead of drilling. For adding new wiring and brakes, I have included a link to a video that should help. For a 1992 Chevy C/K series truck, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use.

  • Adding a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector to a 1992 Chevrolet C/K Series Cab and Chassis
  • A 9-pole to 4-Way flat adapter is not available since it is a combination that is quite rare. You would either have to make one or install a separate 4-Way. The easiest solution would be to install the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118315. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. The 4-Way plugs in line with the tail light wiring on your 1992 Cab and Chassis model Chevy C/K.

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 1992 Chevy C/K Series 1500 Pickup Truck
  • It sounds like you have wiring that is connected to a third brake light like on a camper shell. What you will need to add a 4-Way flat trailer wiring connector to your 1992 Chevy C/K 1500 is the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118315. This harness just plugs in line with the tail light wiring on the truck, on the driver side rear frame rail near the bumper. I have included a link to the installation details for you. The wiring for a third brake light uses a dedicated brake light circui

  • Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer Recommendation for a 1992 P30/32 Motorhome
  • For your 1992 P30/32 Chassis Motorhome without an OEM stabilizer damper you would want a Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets, part # RM-RBK3-RSSP30. The # RM-RBK4-RSSA that you referenced would not be the correct parts for your motorhome as it is not designed to work on your vehicle.

  • Steering Stabilizer for a 1992 Chevy/GMC P30/P32 Series Motor Home
  • I spoke with my contact at Roadmaster and the correct stabilizer for your 1992 P30/P32 series motor home with OEM damper is the Roadmaster Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets, # RM-RBK3-RSDP30. This kit includes the stabilizer itself and the chassis specific brackets for installation.

  • What Do I Need to Install a Brake Controller on my 1992 Chevy Silverado
  • The 1992 Chevy C/K Series 1500 did not come with a port for a brake controller. Instead, you will need to hard wire the brake controller by first installing a 4-Way, # 118315, and then installing a 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. If the Truck already has a 4-Way, then you will not need the 118315. I have included a link to the installation details and a video below showing installation of an ETBC7 kit. If your truck already has a functioning 7-Way, you can use a length of wire # 10-1-1

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller to a 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer
  • Since you already have a 4-Way trailer wiring harness on your 1992 Chevy S-10 Blazer, you will just need to add a 4 and 7 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7, that you have referenced. This kit includes everything you will need to add a 7-Way and has the wiring to install a brake controller. I have included links to an FAQ article and video that show how to install an ETBC7. For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our best selling brake controllers because it is e

  • Brake Controller for a 1992 Chevy 3500HD Pulling a 14,000 GVWR Trailer
  • You will definitely want to go with a proportional controller. A proportional controller will apply the trailer brake with the same intensity as the vehicle brakes, allowing the vehicle and the trailer to stop at the same rate. If you will be towing several different trailers, I would consider one of the models that has multiple boost settings which allow the ability to apply more initial trailer braking power when towing heavier trailers. Either the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885 or the
